I've seen a couple of comments on the web that the varioflex seats reduce the rear legroom (I have a memory of seeing 10cm mentioned).

 

Can anyone confirm or deny this?  My dealer only has a non varioflex version so I can't compare myself.  I had no particular inclination towards the varioflex  but in order to get leather in Ireland you have to order varioflex as it comes are part the same option pack, so I'm stuck with it.  

 

I'd be really disappointed if this was the case and it certainly wasn't mentioned by the dealer at order time (I don't believe its mentioned in the product guides either).  I'm hoping its just fake news!!

I can't say for sure there is less but I had heard the same.  However I sat in the back on the Varioflex in the middle with my two full size kids seats either side whilst the wife drove and it felt comfortable.  I'm 6ft tall and it seemed fine to me.  Nice thing is the middle seat is wider than the standard rear seat option and they recline. 

10cm seems a lot?

Anyway, I'm a tad over 6ft and fit in fine.

I tried one today but the dealer only had Varioflex and the legroom was less than I thought it was going to be (after all the glowing reviews). I suppose I'm used to a Superb.They didn't have non- Varioflex though to compare. However the Varioflex seats in the rear were very comfy especially when reclined!

why would they have less space? surely the fixing points for all models same, they doe reduce legroom when you slide them forward 

Varioflex in the Yeti and plenty of space. Karoq is supposed to have even more rear leg room.

 

I'm 6'1" and so will be checking out the rear legroom for passengers for when I'm driving.

Thats what I would expect, hence my comment that I hoped it wasn't factual.

Good point. Possibly could be that you sit lower with the fixed seat (no frame or any adjustment gubbins below the seat) which presents your knees lower on the front seats (which are slightly reclined) possibly giving you more knee room - just and idea. Need to compare and contrast.

 

The model I've eyed up is the SE Technology. Quite a bit of extra kit over the SE (adaptive cruise, front/rear parking, Amundsen sat nav) but a similarish list price. However no finance available. Also with SE(not technology) you can get deposit contribution.

2019-wise, the panoramic roof is incompatible with the varioflex seats. 

Can someone with the standard rear seating inform us about legroom?

varioflex= variable boot space 479-1810 liters 

fixed seating= fixed boot space 521 liters

This would imply fixed seating is not same as varioflex pushed all the way backwards.

Hence less legroom.

I have read in a review that the standard seating is a bit softer than varioflex and more comfy.

Is this confirmed? I would expect both seating to be comfortable.

There would be some small consolation in having to drop the varioflex option.

Hmm, I sat in the back of a Karoq in my dealers and thought it had less legroom than my Yeti. Could be a game changer for me as I like to have room for four adults. Would like a plug-in hybrid as I've got solar panels for free leccy, maybe a Toyota RAV4? Opinions please?

Can someone with Varioflex seats do a little exercise for me please?

Can you move the driver seat at the most back position possible and then measure the space between the front and back seats?

I'm a big guy and to be able to fit, i need the driver seat pushed back as much as possible.

Also, for comparison purposes, somebody else can do the same measurement with normal back seats. This will show if there is a difference and how much.

For the Varioflex I would suggest putting them in their most back position also for the measurement.

I make it 5 inches, (13cm) in my SE L with alacantara seats, but im sure that makes little difference!

Yeah, just checked to measurement on mine, and with the drivers seat fully back, and the seat behind fully back, there's about 20cm between the front of the rear seat cushion and the hard part of the drivers seat (the drivers seat back pocket is padded out a bit with my hi-viz jacket).

Sorry, yes varioflex seats in mine also.

The drivers seat will go a very long way back.

Im 5foot 10, and with my driving position there is 20cm width for my rear passengers legs.

We bought the Karoq, edition so varioflex seats which have been out quite a few times for trips to garden centres and the dump, because our 16 year old son is over 6 ft tall with long legs and there are quite a few SUVs with limited head height in the back.  We had 2 adults in the car the other day one being 6ft 4inches and he offered to sit in the back on the way to our destination, he was also very willing to sit there on our way back too, and even fell asleep, plus text my husband the next day to ask about which version of the car we had as he was so impressed he is thinking of buying one.

 

Have to say we love the panoramic roof and I'm sad to hear that it would be incompatible with the vario seats.

Probably due to the combined weight and new emissions regulations rather than an incompatibility issue? After all the Edition has both.

 

From a selfish point of view it would suit me if the they dropped the pano roof from the top spec for 2019 as I would go for that rather than speccing up an SE L.

 

As regards space I found it to be about the same in the rear, with the drivers seat set for me at 6' 1", but as mentioned before found the folding tables in the rear of the Karoq a nuisance as they touched my knees if I moved forward a bit. rear seats in the Yeti and Karoq were Varioflex. Would be happy if they dropped the tables as well.

I felt that the tables in the yeti reduced the legroom flexibility by a couple of inches and if I could have removed them without leaving any sign I would have done.

I just received my style edition with glass sunroof and regular seats (varioflex not an option). So far I don't regret the varioflex which are overrated in my view. There is definitely more legroom with the regular seats. I remember having a hard time sitting on varioflex behind driver seat pushed all the way back (I am obese). The sales person moved the varioflex seat all the way back and unreclined it but it was still cramped. I have no problem sitting in the back behind my seat with the regular seats. I think they're also a tad lower so more headroom too. I have had removeable seats in my previous Renault Scenic and I removed them less than 5 five times in 17 years of having them. I'll report what rear passengers think of them after long distance travels. They feel comfortable. Time will tell.
