Vrs front tyres what mileage are you getting before changing

Featured Replies

As above?

Not much, I'm at 5-1/2k miles & I've got 4mm left !!!

About 25k. Though my journeys are predominantly Motorway or A Road.

16k from the S001a's it came with. Now on Avon ZV7's - much better.

Gaz

Jackso, what tyres did your 245 vRS come fitted with,

and what had they set the pressures at at the PDI?

9k and worn perfectly evenly. Still legal but wanted rid of the Pirelli's...

Never got more than 12k from my Mk2, don't expect better from this one although it might do better being 4x4.

My 245 came with Pirelli p zero with about 36psi all round. I run with 39 all round. In my opinion and I'm no boy racer the p zero are poor in low temperatures and when wet. (So not so good in britain)

Agree with this.  Had the F1 AS3 which were brilliant in all conditions on my last VRS 220 (zeros' lasted 9k) and now back on the P Zero's (VRS 245).  Hate them in this weather.

Will be changing them at 5k.

Front Pirellis lasted 14k before requiring a swap (was on 4mm on 1st December, so early Xmas presents were Goodyear F1 AS3's  at 235/35 R19 over 225 " (much better!). Will likely get considerably less mileage from the GYs though, now it's ~300 BHP.

+1 to @stepdavi, the Pirellis are not fun in cold / wet conditions (95% of the time in the UK...).

Nokian Weatherproof's 225x40x18 so far done around 13k & still got 5mm left with tyres actually wearing very even & I've rotated the back to fronts etc.

I'm at 4.0mm on the fronts after 8100 miles. Original potenza's. Soon to be gone for Sava intesa UHP 2.

Had my two fronts replaced after 27k, they were the original P-Zero's, car is a VRS diesel.

I got around 25-30k from the set of Falcons that were on the front originally, but that was 90% motorway mileage. And very straight motorway at that.

Thanks for all the info the vrs245 is on lease arrives Thursday .

Thinking I might take the service plan with Tyre replacement option only £18 pm extra so might be worth it if they only last 5-12 k depending how I drive it.

Cheers

How long does your lease last and how many miles do you plan to cover? £18 a month doesn't seem that cheap unless you plan on getting through lots of tyres.

£216 for  a year tyre replacement plan.

Got to love those Sales People,. GAP, Life Shine, sell you their Granny.

Not quite what he said though? Or did I misread that, i.e. is it £18 extra just for the tyre option?

£18 p.m. for servicing and tyres isn't too bad...

Sorry missed that, my bad.

So Service Plan with Tyre replacement for £18 extra on the renting of the car.

Is that on Variable Servicing, ?

so £432 to have the Major Service carried out @ 2 years / 18,500-20,000 miles.

18pm for service and tyres I do about 12k a year mostly A roads and lease is 2 years but don't want a big bill for tyres just before I hand it back

Are they fixed servicing at 372 days / 9,400 miles?

One Service @ 18,500 miles and a Pair of Tyres if needed, price that compared to 23 x £18.

If the Tyres are covered for Accidental Damage then good.

Not covered for accidental damage just normal wear and tare. If I can get away with just one service then yes it is a bit dear.

Bring back 13 inch wheels like my mk1 escort back in the day £5 a corner.

Good idea.

How much were you on an hour back then when you paid £5 a tyre.

I got about 20k out of the Bridgestones that came with the car.

Swapped back to front at the first service. Got a irreparable nail hole at about 22k so replaced the back line with GY F1 AS3s followed by the fronts around 2k later.

I really like them. Although, I'll probably get cross climates for my next set.

That seems a great price for service and tyres. I paid more than that for the same on my VRS when I bought it 8yrs ago and I still more than broke even. I had the car on fixed servicing so an annual service and at least 1 pair of tyres a year with 4 tyres every other year so was definitely a cheap option.

I’ve paid £250 for a Tyre and Alloy package with BSM. I’ll check the details when I get back home. Was reduced from £450 I think.
