Hi Sigo.

Sounds like you did well with yours. Avoided a poor service in the process from the guy at Lookers as well too, nicely done!

I’m new to this forum and am astounded by the variance in order dates, build weeks, transportation through Germany to a UK port (even those seem to vary), delivery to dealer and eventually collection by customer.
Please call me naive if my expectation was for more consistency for everyone.
Doesn’t someone in Skoda UK HQ access these forums (or is that fora?!!) to get a sense of the frustration?

This is my first Skoda experience (after Mercedes, Toyota and Audi..I’ve forgotten the Lancia bit) and the dealer in Epsom, Surrey could not have been more helpful, in fact my 1.5 TSI EDITION arrived for collection approx 3 weeks earlier than predicted by the really professional sales person.
The vehicle was ordered in wk 7, built wk 12, registered in UK wk 15, collected from dealer wk 17.
10 weeks, not bad it seems. Nuff said, happy bunny!

But I do feel for many who seem to have been right royalty mucked about (that’s the polite version) by some dealers and in a number of cases by Skoda UK. Quite appalling in my view.

Re phone charger, dealer deactivated it, will send news when next steps clearer. Doesn’t really affect me, iPhone 6 doesn’t have wireless charging and I’m not updating just for that feature!

PS Re good/bad dealers, I’m still awaiting a phone call from the salesman at Lookers in Brentford who promised in early December, having taken my contact details, to phone me as soon as they had delivery of a Karoq for a test drive. I went in again in early January, he repeated his commitment. Nada.
To be avoided.

Hey Sigo

Ours was ordered 22//01, and handed to us 30/03, so little over 9 weeks, and way before the date we were given when we ordered it.

But 1.0 SE with only a few extras - about as basic a model as you can get.

I think Skoda underestimated demand, were forced to push the low hanging fruit through the line, ballsed up supplies (aka seatgate), were seemingly unaware of UK signal boosting regs, failed to respond to customers' enquiries, and failed to have a proper tracking app like the other brands in VAG.

But all that said - it's our third new Skoda, and this one is best of 3. We're delighted with it

@Michael G seems like we both did well to avoid the whole "seatgate" affair, perhaps having an SE or SE Tech spec with the 60/40 split seats wasn't so bad afterall

Hi Michael G, I think we were very fortunate, eh?

When I collected the car, I asked the dealer why the disparity in delivery times, he said it's honestly the luck of the drawer depending on the number of those with more or less the same spec allocated to the assembly line at any one time.

He added the demand has been unprecedented, delivery time currently now up to 5 months, urgggh.

24 hours in and 130 miles later very very happy with vehicle, acceleration and smoothness of ride a pleasant surprise.

A friend asked me what it's like...I answered "a computer with an engine, 4 wheels , a gearbox and some suspension".

I'm not a technophobe, but mastering the Columbus system is going to take a while!

Indeed. When we were camping, the removable seats in our Yetis were a real boon, but we've retired to concrete tents these days so "mere" folders in "mere" cloth do us fine :D

We have taken delivery of a Skoda, just not our Karoq!  Dealer has given us a little Citigo to run around in as the Yaris had bills coming in. Next Saturday still sounds like our handover day.

Quite like the little Citigo, it’s very sweet!

Bank holiday weekend formthe Karoq, few days to become aquainted

We have a VW Up which is pretty much the same car as the citigo, great little town cars.

Got a call from my Skoda "Case Manager" yesterday, who my details had been passed onto when I had asked how much delay the phone box issue is going to cause me.

He confirmed that the signal booster does not meet UK regs & must be "inactive". They still have no timescale on this, so I'm assuming they're redesigning the part or something, as opposed to the fix that they've been applying to cars already delivered?

He was also apparently unable to tell me where my car was up to in its build. He said I will be informed when all is sorted, saying this may be through my dealer, by letter or a call from Skoda themselves - he didn't really know.

I asked if that feature is being pulled all together, ie. No longer having the wireless charging feature - again, he didn't know.

So the phonecall left me no better off really & I'm wondering if my expected May delivery will in fact be a June or even July delivery...

There is no fix, the booster is just being disconnected before delivery.

A modified version is coming which we’ll have to go back to get fitted.

I assume any cars being made for the UK market now will have the booster removed.

So my car must be being held back, awaiting the modified version.  The Case Manager said it could be a few weeks or possibly more, he had absolutely no idea.

Just hope my car doesn't end up slightly forgotten about, like all those cars waiting for rear seats!

Skoda - "Simply Didn't Know"

Picked mine up this morning, fitted dashcam and been out in a few times. Loving it so far.

My dealer has just been in contact to confirm build week 16.  So maybe the end of May or the beginning of June for delivery.

We ordered on the 18th March.

Update on my order.

Word from the dealer on Saturday;

The production of the new car is finished, everything goes as planned! At the moment, it’s in transit from factory , soon it will cross water from Germany to UK.

So hopefully not long now.  What's generally the wait between factory to delivery?

Sb-random.   You’ve been very lucky so far.  I ordered on 19th January. Compared to your March date.  But had to wait till build week 16 so you have already caught up over 2 months!!!! Mine is now at emden  been there for 2 weeks waiting for a ship to Grimsby. Whole process is very haphazard.  Mind you if you look at photos of emden port and the number of v w group cars parked there,it’s a wonder they ever get shipped. Just having to be patient to receive a car that I no longer have any excitement about.

From mine leaving Germany to picking it up was only a week.

If you get lucky with the transporter its quite quick.

I suppose it depends on filling up a transporter to go to one area.

I'm new to this forum and to Skoda.  Since ordering my 1.5 SE-L on 30 March I then found this forum and was astounded by all the delays and the various excuses being rolled out by the different dealers.  My dealer in Glasgow advised me that my car was assigned a build week of 22 but after seeing this forum I contacted Skoda UK directly to find out what delays were expected as the dealer advised that new orders shouldn't be impacted by previous delays.  Skoda have since come back to me stating that my car doesn't actually have a build date as yet although the dealer is maintaining that it is definitely week 22 so someone is clearly not being totally honest.

What I do find particularly poor is that the dealers don't seem to be advising of the existing delays when taking the orders which could make people think twice.  Having driven the car I was really looking forward to picking it up as it really is a lovely car to drive but the experience so far has ruined it all and reading about the experience of you guys on here makes it even worse.

Hey Roster. It's not all been bad news. Start to finish, order to handover, ours was 9 weeks.

It's in the nature of things that those of us pi55ed off will put up more vocal posts expressing that.

That said, some have fared worse than us, no doubt about it.

I'd keep on to the dealer and SUK, weekly at least.

Good luck

Hi Rooster, whilst there's no hiding from the incredible variances in delivery times, using all the evidence provided in this forum I'd hang on in there and pressurise your dealer to obtain clearer information. When I collected mine last Wednesday my dealer confirmed they'd had unprecedented demand to the extent Škoda had opened up a second assembly line.

I suggest hang on in there, as I don't think you'll be disappointed. I couldn't be more happy with mine (so far) even though I've already scuffed a wheel against a high curb...durrr!.

Reading all the other posts, it certainly makes me feel a bit awkward.  So far everything has been smooth sailing.

I'm sure once that phone call comes through with the message that you can pick up your car, your excitement will pick up again.:)

Finally picked mine up last night. So ordered on 9th January, took delivery 16 weeks later. 3 of those weeks was transit from the factory. The car is 5 weeks later than originally told by dealer, pushing me into the higher first year VED that put £17pcm onto my lease. The experience with Skoda has been unforgettable for all the wrong reasons.

Any idea how long now? Sorry its dragging on.

I am sure any disappointment over waiting far longer than expected will quickly disappear when you start driving it - its a cracker! I am enjoying driving it so much, I sometimes go out for a little "fun drive" in the evenings!! Not done that for years.

Are you enjoying the car now you have it?

Ask me again in a week.

Hi all, hew to the Karoq forum but have had a Yet for about 4 years and now waiting for my new Karoq.

Seems I have been luck as well on the order front. I ordered mid March, had notification of the car having been built and in transit about 3 weeks ago, and yesterday my dealer told me he was expecting the delivery any day this week. Maybe its because its a diesel and in less demand that the very popular 1.5 petrol?

My spec is SE L 2.0L DSG 4x4,  petrol blue with heated windscreen

Was originally told not to expect it until June!!

Having enjoyed reading all the chat in this forum, feel I already know my new car inside out!!
