I find that when cold you can let the clutch out without needing any revs and the car will accelerate enough to pop it into 2nd without kangaroo motions. Indeed it will accelerate on its own upto 15mph with touching the gas pedal. I have been driving for 35 years and this is the first car I have bought that can make me look like a LEARNER! My theory is that Skoda want all manual Karoq owners to trade their cars in for the more expensive DSG version so that they can increase their profits and keep VAG Head Office happy at the expense of loyal customers (SHOCK HORROR).

I’ll try it. Thanks. Reckon you’re bang on about the dsg. I would  have had one but my dear wife wouldn’t drive me back from the pub unless it was manual. Hence my choice of manual.

It will be one of these,  They all do that,  and others will say, Never heard of that before.

Best get them to take you seriously, they need to be communication with Skoda UK and Skoda CZ.  No doubt eventually there will be a TPI on it.

For now you tell Skoda UK CS that you are not satisfied with the Dealership employees actions so far.

That’s exactly where I’m at. I do understand that if “computer says no” there’s not a lot thw dealership can do but  they do know I won’t let this go and that I will be back.

Skoda should be doing more I believe. They’re quite welcome to have a go in mine. I’ll even provide the neck brace.

When I get the wife's remapped soon (my idea of a software update) you will need the neck brace for different reasons (hopefully about 180 reasons):o

It's not an issue on the 1.0L manual so that's that theory out the window ;)

Seems that it’s unique to the 1:5tsi manual. No adverse comments about any other model.

AMC150,  Contact the Dealer Principal and ask them to have the employee that told you that to put it in writing with their name and qualifications and sign it

and forward the copy of advice from the Skoda Technical department.

As it is tell Skoda UK Customer Services in writing what you were told and your experience so far. You can tell a Communications Manager when they get back to you.

Someone is taking the Michael.

Total rubbish on the 1.5TSI ECU adjusting to you after 1,000 miles.

We are not talking a DSG ECU here.   They either did a software update or no software update.

Took you advice and  followed the  link to “contact us”

I’ve  asked Skoda if

1. They are aware of and accept  there is an issue and

2. What they intend doing about it.

We shall see what happens.

Probably nothing.

Stull waiting for the call or email.

Earlier this year I contacted Skoda customer services to ask a seemingly easy question. How many Octavia VRS245 were registered in the UK on a 17 plate because I believe the number to be quite small (aware of only 2 on the Briskoda 245 owners forum). Their response was thanks for your enquiry but we have no idea how many VRS245 we sold in August 2017 even though they must organise the deliveries of all new Skoda's from the ports to the dealers. Very helpful NOT!

That was a lie you were told.

Or just a Communications manager that never knew how to check how many they registered, or just could not be bothered finding out & telling you.

How many they had sold to buyers other than themselves is rather different from how many they First Registered and where the Property of VW UK.

110 vRS 245 Manuals & 124 DSG first registered in 2017 in the UK.

& up to April 2018 there were 178 Manuals with 1 on a SORN, and 213 DSG with 2 on a SORN.

Thanks OFFSKI that is a partial anwser as it told me that 110 manual VRS245 registered in 2017, but the vast majority would have been on 67 plates after 1st September 2017. What myself and NOAIM would like to know is how many like our cars were registered before 31st August 2017 on a 17 plate, :o

49 manual & 52 DSG in Q3 2017.

Skoda UK Customer Services could easily have told you that if they gave a damn.

They always try to have 50 a quarter minimum First Registered,

they did it with the Audi A1 185 PS Twincharger and the Polo GTI Twinchargers 2010/11 - 2014 or so,

those were at the end of life and the whole production run with the Audi.

They dont want them looking like available in every colour and nobody wants them.  So they First Register them & sell them as used.

Just realised 3rd Quarter includes July, August and September.

Mine is a lot better when the engine is cold but that might because the revs are slightly higher but also when the weather is cooler, better yesterday than today for example.

Wish mine was . Same whatever the weather. I’ve emailed Skoda direct. I’ll see what happens. Such a shame. Lovely car otherwise,

Jumped in the wife's Karoq today cold engine and forgot how sensitive it is to throttle inputs and much kangarooing ensued. Very embarrassing!

I’ll look forward to hearing what skoda say, as you said the car is great bar this little niggle, I don’t seem to suffer as much as some though.

Whilst not too bad when I first had the car now done about 4,000 miles and really struggling to pull off smoothly.  Could be because I have been driving the MX5 a lot recently in the warm and sunny weather, MX5 has one of the best changing gearboxes.  Never had issues with the Octavia before the Karoq, definitely seems to be an engine management issue with the flat spot seeming to be worse.

You’re spoiled by that Vrs!’

I’ve always driven quickish cars all my life and I was torn between an Octavia VRs petrol and the Karoq. I’m 68 now so let my head rule my heart and chose the Karoq. Mmmmmm........

Maybe  next time. Don’t like the black roof lining or the tight seats, I’ve spread a bit in my older age.

Even manual Octavia owners with the 1.5Tsi engine are complaining about this CHARACTERISTIC as Skoda dealers will soon be describing it!

Totally agree. I think we should bombard Skoda to force them into doing something.

I’m keeping the revs above 2k now when moving off and slipping the clutch. It works well. Just hope the clutch lasts till I swap in two years.
