Yes, it put my back up right away so I referred to here which was also dismissed.  Sounds at least like Rainford Skoda are at least taking the matter seriously from the post above, hopefully by the time mine finally gets looked at there will be a known fix.

Just got off the phone to Lookers Skoda Stockport, they have said I'm the only person to report an issue which doesn't fill me with hope.  I mentioned lots of other people having the issue on the forum and they annoyingly dismissed it as non official

Still it's booked in anyway for the earliest date with a Courtesy Car which is the 19th  I'm too far out for getting a bus/train back easily and they want £12 for a collect service!

Rainworrh dismissed me initiially. It was all my fault apparently but now they accept they’ve had several identical complaints from 1.5tsimanual owners.

Keep complaining. I got exactly the same rubbish initially. Not until my fourth trip back did they admit “yes we know there’s a problem”

We can’t ALL be wrong!!!!

How did it look to you, while the guy drove it?

He pulled off incredibly slowly so it didn’t do it!

To add something to the discussion, yesterday i test drove a T-ROC 1.5 TSI and i can say the start was very smooth. No Kangaroo issues what so ever. So it could be a skoda fine-tuning issue!?

On another forum T-Roc owners have been discussing the same 1st gear problem: https://www.trocforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=266

Spot on, I'll keep at them until they do something constructive at least. You would have thought that they would have gone through a programme of rigorous testing before public release? perhaps there is a 'faulty' batch? hence maybe not all are affected.

I took delivery of a 1.5 TSI SE Tech a few weeks back as a company car choice and also have the exact same issue, glad I checked on here and that it's not just me!

I have tried all kinds of ways to get it to drive off smoothly and as with others high revs seems to help but it's spoiling what is a good car, once you get moving it's great..... the other thing I found to my horror was no CD player :o I'd assumed it would be in the glovebox like in my previous car the Octavia Estate, this old luddite may have to finally move with the times and get some music downloaded on to my phone!

I have done 1200 miles now so It can't be a bedding in type thing, I'm going to see what my local dealership have to say. I will try the ECO mode and see how I go, I have tried changing to comfort so far without any luck.

Have you tried SPORT doesn't seem to hurt economy as I always manage mid fifties in the wife's Karoq but Kangarooing seems to better now not in ECO anymore.

Not yet, going to give that a try when I pick the youngest up later!

Maybe you didn't notice the service team that helped him test your car

The interior on that SEAT is so awful they decided to push it so they didn't have to look at the cheap dash!:D

Bang on!!

Skoda Ireland have said they know there is a problem but they don't have a solution and they don't know when they'll have a solution. Apparently Skoda Europe know about the issue too. So it's a matter of time before they come out with a solution. It could be a week or 6 months, who knows!

My wife has lost confidence in her car and the Skoda brand and doesn't hold much hope that they'll fix it in the next week. We're being offered a courtesy car (karoq 1.6 TDI) so in order to take her car off the road as my wife almost had a big accident with our kids in the car when the car stalled when she pulled out at busy junction and was almost T boned

She was lucky not to have been hit and I'm relieved no-one was hurt. She is right in refusing to drive it.

I have seen incidents like this in the past (different car manufacturers involved) where the outcome was more tragic.

If I were you I would write to Skoda Ireland with details of the incident and demand the top man gets involved.

Exactly the safety issue I raised when I first posted on this site. I 100% agree this is potentially a safety issue. Keep complaining!!!!

I support 100%!!!!

Vag certainly know how to FIX engines so presumably will find a way to FIX clutch /gearbox issues, how many cars have they produced in the last 30 yrs?

I tried sport which was a little better, eco seems to reduce it the most although I'm so used to it im compensating without thinking! If the revs are not circa 1800 -2000 It still dips or pulling away ever so slowly works as well. I switched off manoeuvre breaking and all electronic type driving interference just it case it was somehow connected....still doing it so not that.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a manual 1.5 Tsi Edition and having read posts on the forums regarding the issue I had the heads up incase mine was affected. It is, and  I emailed my dealer a day after collecting and he requested I take it into them for the technicians to try and replicate. I am now just waiting for a time convenient for myself and I will update on the outcome.

What works best for me in the interim, or until a fix is found during normal driving is:

In normal mode, let the clutch out slowly with no gas. After initially being very reluctant to just let the clutch out slowly with no gas in fear of stalling, I now do this all the time and it hasn't stalled or laboured once. This does achieve a smooth pull away from standing almost as if it was a diesel.

It appears there is some kind of anti-stall software, as when the clutch reaches the biting point the revs automatically increase with no application of the accelerator. Please bear in mind I only do this when on a flat surface or decline, but I do give it gas on an incline.

Please becareful if trying this out yourself as this maybe just be a characteristic of mine, and try it where it safe to do so.

And like what everyone else with the issue does when needing to pull off quickly is to use the acclerator and give it some gas.

I know this isn't or at least hope it isn't the remedy, but it does allow us to drive around without bunny hopping or kangerooing like a bunch of complete novices of clutch control, plus your passengers should appreciate it too.

Just becareful when trying this, and hopefully it works as a temporary fix for you too. Its a leap of faith so just be brave and stay safe!

I use the 2 above methods, cold engine let the clutch out and pop it into 2nd no gas. Once warm at the lights give at least 2,000revs like you stole it.:D

Me too.

I’m still waiting for the call to say the “fix” is available. At least my dealership have admitted there IS a fault and a fix IS being developed. Hope they sort of before I get rid in July 2020!!

Might  be another Karoq but definitely not a manual 1.5tsi

Wife will have to put up with it until January 2022 then it's decision time.

I've been using the same method but the drive mode is in sport. Seems to work even on an incline.

Has anyone tried super unleaded to see if it makes a difference? I can't as work only allow us to purchase regular.
