Damn those EU regulations.....oh for a return to less restricted times.....and (on a personal note) that includes gas fires you could light with a match!

Fossil fuel internal combustion engines are dirty. Scientific research has shown how they contribute to environmental and air pollution, quite apart from the fact that they run using a finite resource.

The EU regulations aren't alone. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US CAA (Clean Air Act) are policies in place to reduce harmful emissions into the air. The environment isn't a thing that exists in a vacuum. Causing it less harm and polluting it less benefits everybody, including human beings - thousands of who die every year including in the UK with air pollution exacerbating a condition or present as a comorbidity / contributing factor.

No doubt your remark is one made as tongue-in-cheek, but whenever I see someone harking back to "less restricted times" I can't help but feel that there is a sense of whimsy there where none is due. In these less restricted times more people died at a younger age from a variety of things. H&S, which I think is fair to interlink with this topic, is a common target with people saying "it's gone mad". But if you look at the  daily death rates and serious injury occurrences in countries that don't have stringent H&S legislation, you can see far from having gone mad, the stuff actually works to protect the well being of people.

If other car manufacturers can R&D and manufacture engines that comply with regulations without being a jerky mess then why can't VW Group? Don't blame the regs, they're a good thing. Blame the people who are paid handsomely to design and engineer engines. Restrictions or otherwise.

I Hope you never visit rural China, India and Africa where literally everyday billions of fires are started to cook a meal because they have no access to electricity, or gas ovens. This contributes greatly to global warming but no-one ever talks about it because half the planet are so poor they have no option than to cook their food in this way. Completely off topic but having been to Africa 7 times I know what poor people have to do to survive.

Shy - I made mention of other countries where death rates are high because they don't have regulations. I didn't say lack of regs was the only reason. If anything what you are saying supports what I said, it does not detract from it.

I have no intention of visiting Africa thanks but it doesn't mean I'm blind to human suffering there or in other third world countries. That is out of context of my reply though, because the original comment about a time of fewer restrictions was withing the scope of the Western 1st world. Which coincidentally is where VW sells most of its cars I would have thought.

Meanwhile the Q2 fix was delayed further leaving some customers distressed......

Perhaps A case of #whataboutism

We have to start some where...

Back on topic...

If my car was affected by the Kangaroo issue I would be getting my money back. As noted you have 6 months where it is easier to do.

Not stressed just MORTIFIED. That looks a lot like the former head of VW Diesel R & D division. There is a big bullet hole in the back of his skull. Poor fella couldn't get a job because his former employer said he was the best engineer they ever sacked.:blush

Yes but it will probably arrive with a brand new engine that actually works.

Not a chance. It will no doubt be returned with updated software.

Quick update.

Took my car to my local Skoda dealer & they were excellent - great customer service :)

They advised me the VW 1.5 TSI throttle/kangaroo issue is expecting a Q2 fix.

They also adjusted my auto parking brake which was releasing too late making the biting point hard to judge/unpredictable.

This has made it easier to balance clutch and accelerator when the car is cold to avoid kangaroo hopping & easier to pull away quickly without it bogging down with too low revs.

Just need that fix in Q2.

Well, just read this topic, mentioned here many times ...

Last leaked Skoda internal Technical Product Information from Skoda has number 2050744/6, just ask your dealer, if any news visible at their ELSA PRO information system for this TPI, like TPI 2050744/7 or later, exists

VW has own TPI 2048749 too

https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/446820-15-sel-first-gear-issue/?do=findComment&comment=5193191

Well I emailed the dealer I purchased the Karoq from and asked, this was in the email reply:-

"TPI’s are for internal use only.  Even if this did exist dealers are not permitted to discuss outside the dealer network."

Quite right too.

Double edged sword when these things get out onto the internet. Yes some information can be useful but it can be incorrect, not relevant or out of date.

I think you can look up TPIs that pertain to your VIN on erWin, can't you?

Also if your microwave is likely to catch fire most responsible companies will issue a Technical Product Information bulletin to inform the public of the danger. VW Group do not fall into this honourable club it seems.
