It seems to be the engine management software associated with the 1.5TSi engine so I would think that the fix applies to you dependent upon manufacturing date, If you ring Skoda UK support they should be able to advise you.

I've done the exact same.

2.0tdi brilliant and all has ended well.

Happy chap now.

Until you come to part ex. it?

Out of interest why have you decided that a diesel is now suitable for your needs when you bought a petrol before?

Test drove it first and found it suited the car better.

It's a great drive and suits me.

Yes, the 2.0 diesels are great, had them in a number of cars including my current Yeti and would suit the Karoq a treat.

What I was getting at though is your annual mileage and type of journeys. As you probably know modern diesels don't like short journeys which is why now that I've retired my next car will be petrol and why I'm so frustrated with the issues around the 1.5.

Would like another diesel but my future usage would kill it and I'm a little concerned about it's future value.

My thoughts entirely. Last car 2 lire diesel Octavia dsg. Lovely car but 3000 a year now so oil burner not an option. I’m also a bit concerned about future retained value of diesels hence my choice of 1.5 petrol. Manual sadly. Wife refuses to drive dsg. My  car yes but there are times when I do like her to drive although her Citigo drives far smoother than my Karoq. Cracking little motor!

What problem does turning off the 'front assist' solve? Have I missed something?

Really? Has anyone else found this? How does it affect the pulling away? I notice the kangerooing is less with the air-con switched off but I know why that is. I'll give it a try though. 1st service tomorrow but it doesn't look like a fix is available for my karoq as its before the dpf filter was installed.

Give it a try. It is completely different drive for me. Throttle response is also very different. I mean much different. I hope they will find some update for this. For me it is drive without this jerking system untill they fix it.

I don't have front assist so this is not a problem in my case, but thanks for the idea

Front assist is standard on all Karoqs in the EU.

A host of assists for your safety

A whole host of assistance systems previously the domain of higher vehicle classes is available for your enhanced safety. The ŠKODA KAROQ can be fitted with Blind Spot Detect, Rear Traffic Alert or Front Assist with Predictive Pedestrian Protection.

In EU countries, the following safety features are fitted as standard: Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, electronic Tyre Pressure Monitoring, seven airbags, ESC, Multi-Collision Brake and XDS+, an advanced electronic differential lock function.

I have an Octavia, sorry for confusion

Front Assist is so annoying on the Karoq. Glad it's not on my Octavia.

Yes, but have your journeys/mileage changed or were they borderline  so that it didn't matter whether you went for diesel or petrol and having originally gone for petrol you are now fine with a diesel?

I was borderline with the Yeti but next time it's got to be a petrol.

My wife didn't like driving my Passat DSG but when she drives the Yeti she is often in the wrong gear (her Cooper S with 175 bhp is very tolerant of this) and so when the Yeti is changed we're definitely going down the auto/DSG route!

I went petrol due to the car been cheaper on pcp.

I was offered a diesal replacement for the faulty 1.5 with no cost to me.

My dealer was great and we got a cheaper deal on a diesal with better spec.

8000 miles ish a yr my driving is a bit of everything so hoping the dpf won't be a problem .

I have Octavia so not sure how your Karoq will react. All I can say is my Octavia drives like my previous 184bhp diesel now.

«Front assist” shutting down does not change anything on my Octavia (factory date 24.07.2018).

From personal experience on 95 petrol kangaroo are much less than 98.

Front assist being turned off makes NO difference to my Karoq built July 18. Neither did three tanks of 98 octane. I’ve tried every recommendation on this forum all with no benefit. Just hope the fix (if it ever arrives) does work.
