Reset the GOM, drive down a long hill, then check it again lol

My commute involves 18 miles downhill on the M1, 14 roundabouts and then 18 miles uphill on the M1 and the same 14 roundabouts. So to recap 52 miles per day, 36 miles on the M1, 28 roundabouts yet my car has averaged 41mpg since new over 17,000 miles and has provided me with huge amounts of fun so far along the way.

At least the 245 is much more practical than the Golf or the Leaf.:D

Depends entirely what you are after though, so that point is a bit blinkered.

My commute is not all downhill but cruising on a motorway clearly suits the Octavia, unlike a Nissan Leaf which travel very slowly trying to get from A to B.

Perhaps you should try a SEAT Leon ST or Golf R Estate next time if the Vrs is too boring.:sleepy:

Have awoken a troll here or something?

Do you generally just follow people round and make up what they have said?

I have no idea why people make such a deal out of the MPG in this thread tbh?

Because it's a pleasant surprise that a 245bhp petrol car can easily achieve 40mpg and so is perfectly usable as a 20,000 mile per year car and means you can avoid having to drive a diseasel just because you actually use the car more than 5 minutes a day.

Also blame the Government for making buying a diesel less cost effective with same road tax for both fuels and diesel currently about 10 pence per litre more than petrol so 41mpg in a petrol car is the same as 45mpg in a diesel when cost per mile is calculated. Wife's Karoq has averaged 46mpg (1.5Tsi) so would need to average 51mpg in a diesel just to match it per mile. We used to run a 63 plate 2.0Tdi Octavia and 14 plate 2.0Tdi Superb which were £20 and £30 road tax respectively.

Yep they're Skoda hatches and estates at the end of the day so efficiency is absolutely relevant!

When my 245 was standard I drove it for 200 hours at an average speed of 37mph (7,400 miles) and averaged 37mpg.

Then drove it (stage 1 remap) for another 200 hours at an average speed of 37mph (again 7,400 miles) and averaged over 40mpg.

Over the last 70 hours (stage 2 mods) at an average speed of 41mph (covering 2,870 miles) and averaged over 41mpg.

So in conclusion my journeys are being completed quicker than before but using less fuel which doesn't make sense until you realise I simply get upto speed much quicker than when it was standard.:tongueout:

Is that the 200th or 300th time you've posted that information?

Seriously though, my old 5cyl Focus ST could only manage 36mpg max and that took many painful hours at 60mph driving to Dover. The 245 will do that at 80+mph. It's a great car, just needs 18" wheels and soft tyres...

Some posts have been removed due to needless comments.

Hopefully people will stay on topic from now on please.

a small mod :D

I had to do a double take as I only saw the mod on the wall rather than the vRS first :)

However what have you got on the wall? I need this on the side of my house where we park mine to prevent my wife modifying the door paintwork.

I was drawn to the black rubber wall stuff first also before spotting the Vrs puddle lighting. Wife also likes shaving weight off both our cars by using the wall in our drive.:D

Perverts the lotta you, more interested in rubber than car mods, what is wrong with you?

£2 fix - buy 1x pipe insulation and 1x super glue - split insulation in two, apply glue and attach to wall - et voila - nice, cushioned bumper protection between brickwork and door - lasts forever.

Thanks. Off to B&Q on the weekend accordingly then :)

Old hosepipe works, screwed to the wall for the Bumper. I’ve got some JCB Excavator Soundproofing stuck onto my wall for the doors on OHs Mini.

Wife borrowed the beast yesterday and when I did jump in the car today saw she must have warmed up the rubber nicely (P Zero your favourite tyre) on the drive home as she averaged 27mpg. Went home tonight along the A5 for a change and despite seeing off a BMW 4 Series (upto a very naughty 131mph) I still averaged 36.9mpg. Range on this tank down to only 430 miles due to SWMBO enjoying herself with my rubber.:inlove:

I saw these on Superskoda, im actually keen on the white LED ones to provide some puddle lighting getting in and out in dirty carparks at work. I take it the current fittings just gently lever out with a trim removal tool? Any tips? I have my current 220 outside while I wait for my 245 to come so Im trying out little thimgs like this on the practice car before my new one arrives!

I installed too, but for now, only have the logo lit. Will need to vagcom to enable the warning lights. Brightness is not bad considering this was taken during daylight.20181129_135706.thumb.jpg.f71fa59026350a448e3383dd845d5655.jpg
