Time for an update on fuel consumption so NOAIM please look away now!The last 13 tanks at stage 1 used 528.94 litres of 99 octane Shell V-Power (116.35 gallons) to cover 4,770 miles at an average of 40.99MPG. Since 23/10/2018 it has used another 13 tanks totalling 542.38 litres (119.31 gallons) covering 4,702 miles at an average of 39.41MPG (in winter at stage 2 tuned). Since new it has covered 18,891 miles using 2,103.49 litres (462.71 gallons) for an overall average of 40.83MPG. Took a brave pill on the last tank and despite range showing 5 miles left could only squeeze in 48.16 litres giving an actual figure of 16 miles left in the tank so the 417 miles covered were achieved at an actual average of 39.37MPG.

So that suggests 295-300bhp with a stage 1 remap for GPF fitted cars. Never mind at least you are doing your bit for the enviroment and reducing global warming.:tongueout:

Yeah when I drive dual carriageways I can manage 37mpg for a whole tank but, its the most Fn boring driving I've ever done.

I'd far rather run in the low 20's for mpg, get only 8-9k miles from tyres & 17-20k miles from pads & discs, as a REAL DRIVER this makes your blood pump together with being what these cars were designed & built for.

I feel complete & utter pity for both you & your car for having to endure such a boring style of driving but, hey you knock yourself out, you obviously feel proud of your so-called accomplishment.

I told you not to read it because like smoking it may seriously harm your health. Best to ignore something that winds you up and chill. 84 Green Leafs (and not a single:thumbup: Nissan EV in sight).

Hi folks, I've had a reminder from my supplying dealer that my 245 DSG hatch is due for its first service soon, and to contact them to arrange it. Not gonna do that as they're 200 miles away, but anyway I checked in the car and it says oil service due in 8,100 miles or 89 days. This would be the car's first service as it arrived with me from new in the middle of last February.

Is there a consensus of:

a) when the first service should happen - is it within a certain time period after 12 months? If I wait another 89 days that'd be 14 months after it arrived!

b) what sort of cost the first service should cost. My local Citygate garage had a £179 price online.

Cheers!

What's your current mileage because you should be on factory Long Life oil and mine was serviced recently at 18,500 miles and 16 months as per the onboard computer. As to price can't help as I paid the local dealer for 2 services and first M.O.T.

Current mileage is only 3,000! I've done much less than originally planned as I changed jobs and can walk to my office!

I'd go with the info from your car.

This is 'cos the car knows how many miles covered, how many engine starts / stops, oil & water temperatures & how it's been driven.

The factory filled long-life oil needs to be changed at a variable time &/or distance based on all the above info, as per the display in your car.

As for the cost of a 1st service, basically just an oil & filter change, my local VW dealer has quoted me £90, inc. VAT, if I supply my own oil,

which I will because they only stock the 5/30 long-life & I prefer to use 5/40.

It's probably better given my low annual mileage & driving style.

Hi guys and girls,

Monday will see me take delivery of a quartz grey 245 manual petrol. Coming from a 105bhp Ford focus, I'm very excited to finally have a decent car with some grunt when needed. Waited ages to get this so you may get excited trailer shots when it arrives!

Welcome and congrats on joining the 245 manual club. As you know this is an exclusive elite band of drivers who have the aptitude to be able to use 3 pedals rather than one at a time (a DSG 245 owner will be along shortly to contradict me).:inlove:

Kayaks have been used for hundreds of years and are propelled by using a paddle just like your Skoda. 49% manual 245, 51% DSG so rarer and more exclusive with better resale long term is the manual.:inlove:

If I lived in a large city or had to use the M25 every day (known as the car park up here in the Midlands) Itotally understand that half of Vrs245 owners choose the auto, but for driving pleasure it is hard to beat any manual gearbox (unless it's a Vauxhall or French). Check out on You Tube between manual and 7 speed DCT BMW M2 Competition back to back to see the difference. A kid with long legs can drive the auto, whereas a certain level is required to drive a manual, this why most Americans and really old folks prefer auto's.:D

Picked up my new beasty this afternoon... Compared to my 220 this thing is like the flight deck of the starship Enterprise! :nerd:

You'll have to bring it along to a meet

I must admit it goes a bit... It's feels much more potent than the 220.

Oi you!

We are both OAP's, total combined mileage app. 1million, total driving years 104, so we now enjoy driving with the right foot.

The left foot is still used for walking, but mostly foot-tapping when driving..........

Obviously we learnt to drive 3-pedal cars & managed to live with them for many, many years but i with dotage approaching we decided to try living with a DSG equipped car about 6 years ago.

We still have the old girl (my Superb) & have purchased 4 other DSG cars since.  For us oldies, there's enough involvement  to keep the boredom away if we ever feel the need for speed.....,

but we still enjoy the relaxed driving & lower workload when using our overcrowded road network.

Oii Down south the traffic levels are so sh*te autos make sense. We already agreed manual gives a way better driving experience. My octavia is a brisk family barge. My Porsche is still waiting to be bought with its manual lol I have to wait little until my boy is older first though now! Lol my current realistic dream car 911 gt3 touring which has a 6 speed manual.

I'm very jealous, my order is in but I don't have a build date yet so a while to wait.  Good for you though I really hope you enjoy it.  It's going to be a long weekend!

They seem to be doing RS' quite quickly, mine was built immediately after the festive period (1st week of Jan) and I have it now!

That's what I call quick.

Thanks, I'm a leaser so haven't waited probably anywhere near as long as you. Got kids parties and the like to get through so yes, it's going to be a long weekend indeed!

After a MKII and a MKIII diesel VRS I am returning to the petrol VRS fold.  Placed an order for a VRS estate 245 manual meteor grey with red seams this morning at local dealer.

Happy to share details of my deal which I think is fair.

List price (including paint and spare wheel) £29,280.

Negotiated invoice price £26,740 - 9.5% discount - happy with.

Financed through PCP so a further £2,500 off via Skoda and £500 test drive allowance.  Got a fair tradein allowance.

Probably paid about £500 more than CarFile but saves travelling etc.  Delivery 2/3 weeks and pics to follow.

Excited to see what the colour is like in real life!!!!  This swung it for me colour wise

Imagine having 120bhp more than a 220 then it's gets a bit scary. 0-100mph in 11.5 seconds. My 1994 BMW 325i Coupe took 12 seconds to get from 60-100mph for comparison but that only had 199bhp (modified of course).
