Does anyone know the part number for the plug that goes on the pressure switch on a 2007 bkd engine? I can find the sensor number but not the 3 pin plug.

Do you mean 18 here?

Hi David,   I can set dizzys and carbs up by ear, they are easy as you like not like fuel injection, they are something else, luckily I was dragged up with fuel injection and can sort out mo

Hi David,   Good to see you got your car back so quickly, and my diagnosis was spot on.......again!! More likely to be the valve stuck somewhere along it's travel, there is no clutch in

Hi David,   I saw some mesh in B&Q, I think its aluminium and all I did was drill holes in the slats and cable tied it to them, top and bottom, had to leave a gap for the bonnet release,

Link doesnt work for me, but im guessing that 18 is the sensor as it was on all the drawings i loolked at. Its the plug that goes onto the sensor that i need.

You'll probably find that plug will go all the way to the hvac ecu.

So may have to replace the whole loom unless there's a way of soldering it.

But then you could just go to a scrapyard.

What's wrong with the plug?

You might be lucky and its like the compressor wiring, there is a joint near the nearside headlight, maybe there is one on the offside?? never looked myself, not had reason too, just the nearside one.

The clip is broken so the plug rattles loose. Got a zip tie on it at tge moment but i dont trust it.

There are places that sell the plugs on their own so no need to solder, just crimp on. I cant find the wiring diagram to get the part number on any of the online manuals so not sure which to buy.

Part number will probably be embossed into the existing connector.

if your still struggling, ill be taking mine off in a couple of days to replace the high pressure sensor, so I'll take a closer look.

Mind you, you could just buy the ones you think it is, there are't that many 3 in ones and return the wrong one. They are only about £5 each

@Aston_Bodger Do you reckon that the high pressure sensor failing in the high position would cause the fan to kick in on ignition?

@GizmoThor8303 I'm thinking it might be a fail safe thing, as when mine went, though it was a different situation, my fans did not work when the A/C was on as they are supposed to.

All I can suggest is change it and see what the pressure is then, mine is still working fine so far (reaches for a bit of wood to stroke)

Cheers Trev,

the part should be here soon, I'm rather exited to change it, although it seems a bit of a dog to get to, I've ordered some crows feet, but I can foresee some grazed knuckles

Cheers

You will be fine with the crow foot, its a 17mm, just remember the long extension and smallish ratchet, your not tightening the titanic propeller on!!!!!!.

The plug part number is 1J0 973 703 . I've got one coming tomorrow so can just pop the pins out and change the housing.

Hopefully get the re-gas done this week at Ats when they've had their machine mended. Groupon are doing a deal for a regas for £29 anytime up until the end of August.

You should be able to, the plugs come apart fairly easy, just remember to make a note of where the wires come from.

the money pit strikes again, just tried to take off the pressure sensor and this happened.

please someone tell me that I can replace the part where it has sheared off instead of the whole system?

nightmare!

but i think depending on where in the line it is, it should be repairable.

the only issue i could possibly see is if it is a line that goes into the cockpit then it becomes a very big job.

i am sure @Aston_Bodger would have a fair idea after his multi-climate conversion.

also, off topic mr bodger, got any details or photos of your mesh?

i got my new AC rad fitted but obviously want to make sure it doesnt happen again.

I believe its item 6 here image.thumb.png.6418f65dd08379b144ee56a05cd5b690.png

That's a bit of a bugger!!, to say the least, you are looking at a new pipe and they are not cheap, you might get one from a scrappy?, its not repairable, sorry, even a good ali welder would struggle with that TBH, give me a moment and will take a photo of my mesh, I got it from B+Q years ago, just drilled small holes in the slats for cable ties, and had to leave the slat open for the bonnet release handle to come though.

The pipe looks like it's from the condenser to the evaporator connection on the bulk head, have you got a vw parts place near you, can't think of the name now, they might be cheaper than a main stealer, unless you have a tame one that gives discount?

Back in 2015 a number of us followed the advice of a fellow Briskodian and fitted the mesh shown below, me included.

When I looked at the front of the condenser it was clear it had been hit by road debris many times. The shelf below formed by the bumper had small lumps of concrete on it!

Many of the people using this mesh were those who were protecting their new replacement condenser.

I used small black tie wraps 4 inch long. Do a search on here and you should find photos and "how I did it" tales.

The mesh is item 290840516115 on eBay.co.uk and is still available.

@Little_Grey

Here is my mesh

I would do the same, put a bit of silicone grease on it before you fit the pressure sensor.

That looks like the right one, bear in mind you have to remove all the part on the right hand side and the front end off to get the other pipe off and refit the new one.

£45.00 that's reasonable.

Tell me about it! From what I can see its the fuel filter, and coolant reservoir. Is the front end a pig of a job?

Dont believe the picture of the system. It says its for a bkd engine amongst others but it isnt. On the bkd the short pipe to the compressor is the one with the sensor.

Not really if your good with tools, just mark the positions of the crash panel and the headlight carriers so they go back with no problems, otherwise you will need to reset your headlights again, bumper is easy just plastic rivets and 2x hidden bolts under the 2 outer covers 1 is where the tow eye thread is, the other side is the same.

Any probs give me a shout,

I'm going off the part number listed under my engine code, hopefully thats right
