I have a 2013 petrol  Fabia tsi estate. I went on a run to Swindon last week to see my nephew  and overfilled deliberately as I usually do immediately before a longish run. I estimate this gives me an extra 7 litres approx. I encountered mixed driving conditions as you do and cruised at a good speed on the M5 while also encountering some reasonably  traffic congestion around Worcester on the way back. So pretty normal driving for the UK! I have done 400 miles and I would say I have used the 8 gallons I put in. The fuel gauge reads halfway between half full and the reserve segment. I am confident that I got 50mpg on the run which considering I did some shortish journeys from the hotel to my nephews I thought was pretty good. I honestly dont know though  how anyone can get the average petrol consumption claimed by Skoda; thats 54 mpg, I think you would have to be in 5th gear at speeds no more than 50mph for long periods to get that and that isnt realistic where I live and drive. What do other contributors think?

Don't forget tests by Skoda would be done in a controlled environment and wouldn't account for uphill, wind, sudden drop/incresse in speed etc...

Very controlled, as inside a temperature controlled building on a rolling road.  So not exactly as cars are driven going places.

No manufacturer published 'driving consuptions' until Peugeot did.

No claim from Skoda of an 'average fuel consumption made driving outside'.

Plenty get 54 MPG from a tank though, or 540 miles for 45 litres of petrol.

hetty1,

it would be a good idea to fill again to where it was and see how many litres you actually used.

See if it is 36.4 litres for 400 miles.

Best not vent the tank if you are going to park up though, that extra 7 litres up the pipe is venting if you are not just brimming it.
