another update - brand manager who i spoke to yesterday who said sorry and told me part would be here today. He called me, parts didn't arrive - apparently Skoda have changed parts provider and its caused disruption on 1st day......ill let you make of that what you will. Its now due tomorrow and if it is should be ready tomorrow afternoon. He was happy to discuss the list of compensation - he actually said well we don't have a bottomless pit but we will do what we can to ensure you leave happy, so i emailed him with my list.

Lets see what happens!

Oh, how cruel, now that is part of his holiday bonus flying out the window into your hands?

When I have an issue I ask it to be escalated and at the same time I tell the operator that if the supervisor cannot give satisfaction I will go to their boss and so on. Eventually I will be speaking to God and he will be mightily angry and smite the manager below him and that manager will smite even harder the person below him and so on until they reach you!

I seldom go one level beyond to achieve a satisfactory outcome!

Update - phone call from the dealer. Part has still not arrived!!! I think that's it now. I have had enough. Im 8 days into a finance agreement and no car. I'd like to think im a patient person but its now run out frankly.

Update dealer called this morning, part due today. I told him im no longer interested in car and want to come out of the sale. Cancel the finance and anything else i agreed too. Plus return the £250 deposit. Im done with it, naturally he tried to see if he could do anything to rescue it and i said no im done. So that is that really.

Well done Dazza, you made the right descision and I hope the dealer learned a lesson too.

Don't let it put you off though, the Fabia is a great car and after owning mine from new after two and a half years I'm thouroughly happy with it.

Faint hope that they have learned a lesson - seems they have a lying to customer culture. Only way that will change is a wholesale clearcut of staff from the top. Sad!

Someone may have to answer for it somewhere down the line.

Maybe an official complaint may make them sit up and take a little more notice in future.

I don't blame Dazza12345 for pulling out due to the delay, but the problem has been the dealer getting hold of the parts, which isn't necessarily the dealer's fault. The initial diagnosis was wrong and was communicated incorrectly to the customer but after that it was down to the delay in receiving parts, which, unless they had forgotten to order the parts, was not down to them.

@peter3197 yeah, I can understand parts being delayed - however the critical issue  was the quality of communication.

It’s difficult to have trust when communication was off-beam - especially when there was more wrong with the car than a blown bulb - as originally implied.

Yes, delayed parts and misdiagnoses are common and frequent  enough realities - however this dealer did seem to be less than up-front and clear .....  when he could have been.

When they’re BS-ing on one thing, what else will they BS about?

@Dazza12345 suspected something was “off”” and the dealer didn’t retrieve the situation in a way that settled Dazza’s suspicions.

That’s a Get-out-of-Dodge signal for me!

Especially when there’s plenty other non-faulty cars and even some dealers who are reasonably straight up.

/end rant !!!

I think i did the right thing tbh. Like yeah he said Skoda had changed parts delivery team or something hence the delay in that. So i get that is out of dealer control. However at that point it was further delays, lack of communication about what was actually going on. I had lost faith in them. I honesty wouldn't want to take my car too them for anything because of lack of confidence. Im still looking at Monte Carlo's though. Im confident i will be joining the Skoda family soon. Just not that car or that dealer.

Truth.

VW droppedtheir major  parts suppliers because they were actually peed off with VW taking the pith.

Back orders, parts not available because VW's are made with parts VW Group source as cheap as they get away with sourcing.

Just VW's usual carry on, why do Dealership staff never seem able to be aware.

No, That's Volkswagen Group for you!

As an owner of VW Group products, I just hope a lot of this is just posturing and that things are getting sorted out in the background/in private, otherwise this is another big hit for VW Group shareholders which will not be good for us in the end!
