Long Term Fuel - Infotainment

Anyone know if the Long Term fuel economy screen under the 'CAR' tab automatically resets itself?

Never reset the Long Term screen but noticed this morning that the system reset itself a few days ago. 'Since Last Refuel' data unaffected. It's around 1 year since the car was registered so system may have been last initialised during PDI ? Perhaps long-term resets itself every 12mths?

Pretty sure it resets after 9999.9 miles.

I second that

I believe it also resets after 100 hours of driving. Whichever figure is reached first between that and the mileage.

Can't put my hands on the pic I took of the system a week b4 it reset itself. Mileage only just over 4000 so 9999.9 defo wasn't the cause, but that 100hr of driving idea? Something tells me it was quite near that so this may well have been the cause.

Anyway I've lost my 51.9mpg average fuel consumption over the long-term (it'll have increased slightly in the weeks that followed). When you consider that was over 6mths, 3000 miles and driving thru a right mix of weather, road and loading conditions - great summer, the Beast from the East, winter, thru high winds, driving rain, no rain, smooth motorway, potholed B-roads and the car carrying various loads, 51.9mpg is way beyond my expectations for a 1.4 (150).  Absolutely delighted with it and glad I didn't go for diesel power this time around. With increased fuel costs and a hefty premium to buy diesel power in the first place, God knows how many miles I'd have had to do each year to break even. (a rough estimate, near on 75k a year  :o )

It will always be the 100 hours that causes the reset if you work out the maths, especially if you are set to use miles.

A long term average of 60 mph is near impossible and yet 9999 miles at 60 mph average would take 9999 minutes or about 166 hours. Even in kilometres it is quite a challenge.

I seem to remember a post  (may not have been an Octavia) where a submitter claimed their brand new car's display reset at 10,000 and 1000 hours.

If confirmed that would make the long term display more usefuel than it currently is.

I like you have gone for petrol this time round instead of diesel it will be my first petrol since 2003 as I worked out I would have to do 60,000 miles to even break even if I were to buy a diesel, so now waiting 23 weeks for my 1.5 tsi DSG SEL esate to be delivered. :)

Mine keeps on resetting a lot lower than 10k. Must do it on 100hrs which for me is around once a month.

Similar experience, long term average must have reset after around 100hrs driving, anyways, delighted with the car, gives 37mpg, or more,  in city use and the best I have had on a run has been 56.5 on the maxidot.  Have run diesels since 1999 but decided to go for a petrol this time round and the car purchase was a bit of a no brainer, a used 13 plate 1.4tsi 140bhpElegance spec in race blue from main dealer and genuine 12500 miles with service history and warranty.

resets after 100 hours of driving

My Octy long term fuel has reset itself 3 times in 10,650 miles. Each time after reaching 100 hours driving time with the average speed between 34-38 mph. This happened over 326 days so roughly every 109 days in my case.

Definitely resets at 100 hours. It's a shame it can't be a rolling figure of the last 100 hours driving as this would be far more useful

Pretty good thanks, After 3,250 miles SpritMonitor has the long term figure at 43.3mpg, but that does include the first fill-up after delivery where we only got 300 miles out of the tank - I guess the dealership either didn't brim the tank or had the engine running without moving for some reason (I seem to recall the long-term figure on collection was around 15mpg!). If you take that out of the mix we're averaging 45mpg, with a best of 53.9mpg following a long run up to and around Norfolk
