Furby Vrs 06 Problems

Featured Replies

HI GUYS AND GIRLS

I`ve two problems with my vrs furby any help would be appreciated.

1)when changing gear from 2nd to 4th on a few times there seems to be a jerking motion as you begin to accelerate then it smooths out this has also happened when havung to back off when getting close to the car in front the n re accelerating this has happened to me and the wife. :thumbdwn:

2) the engine note seems to change every so often, sometimes there is a noise that sounds like the tappets need adjusting when accelerating but the next day it will be quite well normal diesel engine noise.:thumbdwn:

These problems are abit concerning as we have had the car since the 1st of march I understand the engine may still be loosening up but we have only done 200 miles and driventhe car to what the handbook and the head mechanic said.

I am mechanically minded if car was petrol i would say either fuel supply or injector fault and the noise would be tappets need adjusting but with a diesel i don`t really know any help would be greatfull.

The car is due to go to the dealership to try to find out what is wrong i will post a new thread to explain all and to rate the dealer as i`m a customer now and not a sale.:(

cheers

thanks stu its weird has the wife`s been in the car today and not a single problem i can`t blame bad diesel as we got the fuel from a shell garage this is driving me nuts.

Possibly(?) the TC kicking in well accelerating, it can be jerky if your not expecting it.

If in any doubt let skoda have a look

I know what you mean about slowing down because you are a little close and then accelerating again. It's like a little delay in power and then suddenly everything kicks in. I thought I was just being paranoid where it was new but I will wait to see what your dealer says.

The only other problem I have had so far is the rear window heater switch is sticky when the weather is cold  I've just booked it in for the dealer to have a look at that on monday

Good luck :)

mines like that. My fab vrs is a nov 2005 got it from new. The noise sounds like the same as my TDI and ive been told it will settle down over time. And ive also have jerking in traffic gargage found no problems but its doesnt do it all the time so iam not worryed about it. And the rear heater switch is a 'common problem' even though i waited 2weeks for a so called common part to be fixed. All fine now though

had that problem myself

I don't want to hijack the thread but what was the problem with the switch and what had to be done to rectify it?

Thanks :)

I've no idea to be honest pixi, I just left to to that very nice chap at pillings to sort it out ;)

But it wont take long it's an easy fix

this may seem a bit bizzare I don`t want ot sound dumb I understand how traction control works but is the engine that torqued up that it causes tc to come in even on dry road acceleraring from 30 to 40 briskly i checked the oil before car went for window tint its ok so noise can`t be low oil if you know what i mean and cheers for the window switch prob i`ll keep an eye out for it.

Is this a secret fix that needs to be PM'd?

I honestly think these things will rectify themselves as the engine runs in.... give it a few thousand miles....

Try changing from 2nd to 3rd then to 4th, is the differance in revs from 2nd to 4th causing your jerkiness ie. dropping out of power band?

I've looked a little closer at the switch today. The switch for the drivers heated seat is on the right of the rear heater switch, it looks like the seat switch is slightly out of alignment so maybe this could be causing the rear heater one to stick. But what I don't understand is why it only happens sometimes, generally at night or early morning

Is the noise on acceleration a sort of tappet russle? If so, is it more prominent when the air is very cold? My car does this and I think I have traced it to induction noise. 19,000 miles down the road it still sound the same and nothing has stopped working.

HI Chris

The noise you discribed is spot on when accelerating and you got me thinking when it happened it was a cold day up north around rotherham about 1degree

but today being about 5 degree and no noise noticed.

The heated rear window switch gets caught on the surrounding bit of trim. Usually along the bottom edge of the switch. Easiest way to sort it is pop the switch out and trim a tiny slither off the back edge at the bottom. Works fine after that.

Have you just switched from petrol? Diesel & petrol are two different driving styles and switching from one to the other takes a while to get used to. I'd say at200 miles you could still be settling in. :) Took me a while to adjust and I moved from an old tech PSA Turbo diesel which at least had a similar narrow power band, if nowhere near as much torque.

I drive hire cars fairly regularly and switching back to driving petrol powered cars you really notice the loss of torque. Doing it the other way has same effect in reverse which can result in the drive not "flowing". I'd say give it more time, less RPM and get lots of practice in, the vRS likes to be driven and when you get familiar it flows:thumbup:

My 05 sometimes has a high frequency top end noise a bit like tappets, usually when the engine isn't fully warmed up. I'd say its nothing to worry about, but if concerned that's what you've paid all that dealer mark up dosh for so get your moneys worth!!:)

Hello and welcome...

First off, if the car doesn't like it, don't loop change from 2nd - 4th.

Secondly, mine sounds louder sometimes. I have found it is to do with the gear lever. Sometimes it rests in a "loud" spot, though this is when the car is at rest.

Fingers crossed that there's nothing too much amiss with it...

J.

That is odd. My 55 plate Vrs is exactly the same. I took mine to the Leicester dealership and was told there's nothing wrong with it. I've noticed it does it more when feathering the accelerator, it's as tho it can't make up it's mind whether to put fuel in or not. Generally jerking all the time but when the technician drove it, it didn't do it. Typical.

The technician did comment how it wasn't possible to left foot brake in a fabia vrs due to the brake switch also acting in conjunction with the ecu to slow the engine under braking. Funny tho how i can sit at the lights with my left foot on the brake and still rev the nuts off the car!

Also the rear heated demister button sticking, that however was greased up and it's been spot on since!

Just tried a plug in tuning module from a mate with the exact same car and was well impressed. Feels like a different car with regards to power, unfortunately the jerking fault wasn't cured.

Feeling the need for new wheels soon, has anyone had problems when verging away from the standard ET 37 offset when opting for a larger size rim??? On previous cars, steering has been affected.

My 06 car has jerked twice in traffic which is something the 05 model never did, It feels like the tick over is too slow which is bared out by the lower engine note, if this was a petrol car I would blame the idle speed adjuster which can cause the engine speed to drop too much when you are in traffic causing the transmission shunt, but I am not sure if the diesel uses one, does anybody know if the tick over can be speeded up with the Pdi engine? Apart from this the car is spot on with a lovely gear change, the only change I can see between 05 and 06 is a different idiot light for the traction control.
