Something like that ;)

But be careful, the cabin filter is in the wrong direction in this video. The arrow shall point from top to bottom. ;)

That's great Bap, thank you!  Not sure if the procedure is the same for RHD cars, but will have a look today.

Would you mind posting the procedure for this? I've never been able to find instructions online. Thanks!

Beaten to it! But as you can see, it’s pretty straightforward. I can’t remember which way up my filter was, but it was the original and I was careful to put the new one back in the same orientation. I’m pretty sure Bap is correct and the chap in the video had his upside down.

It is. Well, the glove box is on the other side, obviously! But the filter is still behind the glove box.

Yup, had a look yesterday and there it it, looks very straightforward, great design! Thanks again folks.

For the 4th time, since getting the car brand new 3.5 yrs ago, I've had to put on the spare tyre!!!

Yup, I got screwed....again!!!

4 times on the same car :o!?! Wow!

Aren't you a kind of 'black cat'

;)

I've had two already.. only done 6k miles.

The first time was a complete flat, and as I have an iV.. no spare.

Had to wait 4 hours to be "recovered".. Whilst waiting, purchased a spacesaver.

Are you sure you haven't got magnets in those wheels / tyres:D.

Think I've had 1 slow puncture in 10 years - mainly motorway miles.

My current car ailment is curbed alloys. 2 now in less than 6 months:doh: Diamond cut refurbishment is around £80 / wheel & I have another two on the car that need doing. I put this down to all the local driving during lockdowns & unfamiliar parking spots. Well that's my story & I'm sticking to it:angel:

The current cold spell did for my battery yesterday. After 10 days sitting on the drive the car started OK & I drove to the vets with wife & two cats on board (lights on, 2 x windscreen heaters on, heated seat on (wife) & mirror heaters on). After vet visit the car would not start. I have jump leads on board but no other cars around to jump from. Called insurance recovery who were with me in 30mins.They jumped the car which started 1st time & I drove home. I've now invested in a NOCO jump start kit to carry in the car. Currently I'm conditioning the battery to see if I can postpone the inevitable battery replacement which has been playing up for a while now.

Talking punctures I'm currently on my 7th Superb since 2005 and never had a puncture (probably shouldn't have typed that). However statistically you should get a puncture once every 93,000 miles. My last one was on my 2010 Fabia estate and the can of foam was useless.

You have just jinxed yourself right there.

I would always want a proper spare wheel/tyre or a space saver as a minimum.

I've had 3 punctures in the last 18 months, about 20,000 miles.

Guess I keep the average down for most people.

Living on or near a building site probably wouldn't help as trades persons have a habit of leaving nails and screws all over the pavement and road.

I drive past a commercial building site on my way to work everyday - so I'm pretty sure where I'm getting my share of screws!!!

You need a pole about a metre in front of your bumper with strong magnets fixed to it. This could be an idea for your next mod.

Did you notice it yourself, or did your new direct TPMS tell you?

No way I would've known.

The TPMS alerted me, saying the pressure on the right rear was down to 23 psi.

An indirect TPMS would've alerted me too, but just won't tell me how bad.

looks tidy that mate.  Ahhh, i miss oz :-(  Especially this time of the year when all the friends I made over there are posting pictures of nice blue skies etc.

Started it.

I'm sure the Sportline hasn't been fired up in at least a month. It's a 66-reg with the original battery and sits outside on the street.

So, I grabbed the door handle and... nothing.

I figured the battery had finally died, especially in the last few days of freezing cold. I proceeded to dig the key out of the fob. As I stood there trying to remember how to access the key hole, I looked at the fob and thought, well, just press the open button. It unlocked. Got in, pressed the starter button and it fired right up.

So, I revved the motor until the water temp read normal, drove it back and forward a couple inches, shut off all the infotainment and heater stuff, then killed the engine. As I left the car, I put my thumb on the door handle and it locked.

Heck, I might get another year out of that battery....

Maybe, maybe not. My 2016 L&K battery let me down earlier this week when it was colder. It had stareted at home but failed to restart after a short trip across town & I  needed a jump from a recovery van to get it going again. I've had it on a re-conditioning charge since then for nearly 2 days & bought myself a jump start kit to carry in the car in case it happens again. I will need to use the car tomorrow so fingers crossed it behaves itself. I think that at 4 years old the OEM battery is on it's last legs. Funny that this seems to happen just outside the 3 year warranty:wondering:. I also read somewhere that a new battery requires a re-code which means a trip to a dealer or specialist & is therefore not not a DIY fix. Is this true?

Packed mine off to Skoda - not a pretty sight :crying:

Front nearside coil spring sheared.....hopefully be reunited in a few days. Stay safe. Screenshot_20210129_105307.jpg.236e0ef7f57020f74c4f885e5b233e29.jpg

How on earth does a spring snap like that on a 2yr old car... Are the roads near you that bad? No other damage to the suspension or chassis hopefully?

Makes me feel a bit better for all the trouble installing Eibachs even though preventing this was not my main drive...

This is a very common occurrence on the entire VAG range of vehicles. We regularly replace broken springs on Seat Leon’s and golfs etc for their first MOT.

Haven't heard of any mk7 Golf R/GTI, Leon Cupra to suffer from this tbh so it surprised me to see it on a 280 isn't it? We know the 280 runs on softer springs but this is unacceptable imo.

No idea about the regular Golfs and Leons though that you mention.

Hopefully Skoda will suck up the cost and replace both front springs (to be on the safe side) under warranty because that could have caused a very nasty accident.

Enthusiastic approach to speed bumps?

A neighbour of mine's wife & 2 x daughters each broke front springs on three separate cars over a period of 18 months (all different make / models of car). After the 3rd one broke he started asking questions. Seems they were hitting the local speed bumps (4 in our road) at excessive speed! Probably 35mph. So much so that on two cars the front bumper valance was also scuffed as the front end bottomed out on the road.

Coincidently for the first time in a while I was driven by my wife in her car the other week & guess what, yep, she did the same thing. I actually hit my head on the roof of her car. A heated "domestic" then ensued as I tried to explain that hitting speed bumps at 35mph+ was not what they are in the road for:swear:
