Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

Well after nearly 4 months of ownership, O finally found the source of one of the most annoying rattles. It sound a little plastic bag of nuts and bolts sliding along under the carpet behind the drivers seat. I have pulled bench seat, the bolster, the boot carpet ( estate ) rear driver footwell, lower trim the runs from the front to the back.

After all my efforts, it was a broken biro on the rear floor air vents ! Even after checking them with an endoscope, I still missed it.tje first time. After 2½ hours over the past 2 days , I eventually removed it. Using my endoscope with a hook, long clear tube connected to my vacuum cleaner!

What an ordeal.

Slowly slowly catchy monkey. Well done.

6 years on & I'm still trying to find out why my drivers seat still creaks & clicks. Been doing it since I got the car in 2018. Tried finding any loose nuts or screws to no avail. I fear that complete seat removal will be the only solution which is why I have not tackled it properly  yet.

Following onnfrom yesterdays mission...

I also had a stuck flap in the HVAC system, it would show a fault in VCDS and make an awful creaking sound when the car would start or when I adjustment the air flow.

I turned everything off and sprayed a generous about of SP90 silicone spray down every vent in the car, let it settle, then in turn activated each blower position.

I can no confirm, fault.has cleared and no more squeaky vents!

I also received my Start/Stop disable cable , fitted this. A bit fiddly to tuck the excess cable away, but done now. Works as expected!

New rear springs for my Superb !

The stock ones were broken at the base and the car was kind of lower at the back. Wayyy better now.

I think the springs were probably broken because of the winter salt attacking the base but not sure.

It cost me 400€ (250 for parts) to replace them, it would have been cheaper if I had done it by myself but I can't lift the rear of the car enough and would have probably struggled with stuck bolts and pulling the wheel arm...

Yep. I got an advisory on my springs when I had it serviced last year (61k miles). Corrosion around the base of the springs - a common fault apparently. It gets a service  next month so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it hasn't got any worse.

I have a - ahem - a slightly creaky flap, so I’ll give this a go, thank you.
I also decided to fit a Stop/Restart disable cable and I understand what you mean about the lack of space to get the central lump of the cable installed!

I have the same issue so I'm interested to see how you get on with it, I'm also wondering if there is going to be vapor/smell attached to this solution when the vents are blowing air out?

Can you tell me where this fits? Is it below the switch?

Mine only does fairly short journeys so isn't a major issue but......

Many thanks.

No, it's a fairly neutral smell. I did it with the windows open to stop the vapor lingering and sticking to unwanted surfaces.

It's installed under the switch, like an extra to the existing loom.

It's not very intuitive, you have to tuck it towards the back so the plug is already in position to receive the switch/socket. Otherwise it bunches up. Get the swit4as close as possible before plugging it in.

The start stop loom "intercepts" the factory wiring and the switch connector.

It sits under the gear lever, and as mentioned above, it needs to b tucked away in a tight space.

Also if u have LHD, u'll find it harder in terms of cable length due to the position of the start stop button.

Mine is RHD, so it was not difficult as the switch is on the opposite side.

The Superb is the only car I've driven recently where the Stop-Start doesn't annoy me, normally I  have automatically reached down and turn it off after starting

Can I ask which product you used?

The Action Can, SP 90. It's a very useful product, seals, bushing, windows etc

Same here, I find particularly useful the early re-start when the car ahead moves away, or you touch the wheel, and this means you are faster ready to move. However it is true I drive mostly long distances, and thus I manually disabled it as I do not like a turbocharged engine cutting off without a suitable cool-down cycle ... I am actually surprised with all the hi-tech wizardy, the nerds that set up most of the "smart systems" they have not inserted a logic to prevent auto-start and shut-off in such conditions ...

TV tuner now fully working :) Lots of coding options for rear displays - Wonder if I could mount some displays in the sportline headrests.... hmmm - just something ill consider in the future.

@ApertureS Was this TV tuner fitted but not working, or is something that you have sourced and added yourself? I'm asking because my old MK2 I ordered with that fitted, but my new to me MK3 does not have it, and it is something I'd like to add if not too expensive or difficult.

Added from nothing :) complete retrofit.

It can be added but is a fair amount of work. If you did wanna message me I can price it up for you.

@ApertureS Thanks, but it sounds like a lot of work for something that hardly likely to be used that much and will cost plenty.

I swapped the boot lights in my estate for led ones, only £4.50 from aliexpress, but wow such a big difference.

Have you tested the glovebox lights and interior lights since fitting them?

Generally people have a lot of issues with the dash showing boot lid open when any other interior or glovebox light is on.
