God that was dull. The top 7 all on the same tyre strategy, no overtaking.

I thought I might drop off. SIngapore GP used to be exciting but it's shown up today as a poor track where follow the leader is all you get.

Don't think the second place is too pleased at being undercut by his own team for the win!

And the safety car made it even worse.

Channel4 F1 pundit Billy Monger wins Pau Grand Prix!   Amazing.     What a great kid he is. What a comeback he's making.

The Safety Car was Mercedes only chance but it arrived too late for them. It did repeatedly liven up the rear of the field though.

The Greek or Russian channels I was viewing at least spared me from 2 hours of Crofty and Brundle trying to make such a dull event sound remotely interesting...:sleepy:

Six races left with some reasonable circuits. Hamilton could probably finish 3rd in all six and win the title.

Hamilton has one hand on the title and knows you don't win a championship by taking too many chances like trying a late lunge on Max for an extra 3 points.:D

Leclerc and Verstappen both on 200 points 96 behind Hamilton. Can't see Bottas getting ahead of him.

I considered the rest of the season earlier. The highest total any non Merc driver can get is 356 with 6 wins and fastest laps. Hamilton has 296 now so needs 60 points or 6 X 5th place to at least go to countback for second places since he and Max/Charles would have 8 wins. Ferrari and RBR definitely have motive to have car #2 crash Hamilton at a few of the remaining races.

Well, you clearly saw a different race to me.

Bit of a selective quote that... Ken

There was no over taking in the top 7 at all during the whole 2 hours (which is what I wrote yesterday).

Even when the leader was lapping 13.3 seconds slower than the pole time every lap between laps 3 and 14 no-one could pass at all.

Ludicrous and not entertaining in the slightest.

Once the tyre strategies played out at the back there was some passing, but frankly Force India passing the likes of Haas for umpteenth place has no real meaning at all does it?

A stupid circuit - Ferrari drove so slowly they very nearly exceeded the 2 hour time limit during a dry race!

Indeed a Williams got shoved into the wall because it could keep up with a Haas says it all really.

@camelspyyder @shyVRS245 - So I'm more interested in racing than in leading or in winning. I think that says more about cultural differences than about motorsport.

The only reason there is any overtaking in F1 these days is the artificially enhanced performance differences between the cars.

DRS and/or the compulsory use of less than optimum tyres.

Its all phoney just to break up the 2 weekly procession.

@KenONeill If you like the show more than the result though, maybe NASCAR would be more your thing ;)

Honda looking ahead to their home race next month have decided new engines are required in Sochi for Red Bull and Torro Rosso. Max, Albon and Gasly have 5 grid place penalties and Kvyat will start from the back of the grid due to 5 of the 6 components have changed and only the battery is not new (at his home race in Russia).

Taking the p1S5 Honda!

Engine #5 for VES #6 for KVY and #7 for GAS.

Works Merc and Ferrari drivers have had 3 engines each.

Can Japanese teams not count to 3. Or conform to the spirit of the rules?

Autosport have the gall to write "Honda reliability has been good" in the paragraph before reporting that Max, Dan and Pierre have used 18 engines between they 3 this year.

Mercedes off the pace again today. Max has a grid penalty. Get the bets on Charles again before the bookies notice.

Ferrari 1 2 in FP3. Second half of the season getting more predictable than the first half?

7 years of pain because Ron wanted a works engine deal...

Good result for Lewis splitting the Ferrari's on his medium tyres against their less durable softs. Looks like Merc's going long before first pit stop. LeClerc 9th out qualifying of Seb and first Ferrari driver with 4 consecutive Poles since Schuey in 2001. This boy has a bundle of talent and Lewis must be concerned about next season.

He should be concerned about the fastest driver out there with Honda's seemingly limitless engine budget too. If Max ever gets a car anything like as quick as the top 2 teams, they'll never see which way he went!

The race to the first corner will be mad tomorrow. Vettel and Bottas should get a mega tow.

Best Max can do will probably be 5th after starting 9th with his grid penalty. Perhaps greater punishment for new engines should be 10 grid penalty rather than the current 5 place.

He didn't.

In Q3 they all used softs.

 Podium for Max I reckon.

I think it is for engine 4, but not 5 6 7 etc
