Honda introduce Spec 4 engine for Albon and Kvyat with grid penalties.

Spec 4? Why does F1 even have cost cutting measures if Honda (& Renault) just drive a coach and horses through the rule-book?

Good news for Hamilton guarantees him at least 8 victories in 2020 season.

Lol.

Against Max/Honda and hopefully Charles/Ferrari, I think next year could be really competitive. Anyone who wins 8 from 22 will be doing brilliantly.

I think Mercedes have dumped Ocon because of the risk - his previous form for crashing into team mates. Maybe that will make him unwelcome at Haas too.

He'll have to be very fast to keep up with Riccardo at Renault, let alone crash into him.

Well he is French and makes sense for Renault and their publicity machine (or Buemi?).

I know but he been very successful in the world milk float championship driving a Renault and Alain Prost probably likes him. Also been doing ok driving Hybrid Sportscars at Le Man.;)

Yeah, with 2 top works drives in his pocket he's not gonna come back to F1 and waste his career in the midfield is he. He already turned down a return to a race seat at STR.

Autosport.com quoting Gasly publicly bitching about his demotion and offering excuses why his RBR chance went sour.

Doesn't he realise it's time to just shut up and drive - or his F1 career will be finished before Xmas.

He had the same opportunity as Vettel and Max when they stepped up from the junior RBR team yet failed to make an impact so your probably right and the exit door from FI is waiting to slam behind him after the end of November.

Does that make a difference? They're not racing cuckoo clocks or chocolate bars! ;)

Might even attract sponsors from well known watch makers?

Shy245 inferred Renault wanted a Frog in their works team. Buemi isn't one. :)

Nearly all the teams have a "Watch Partner" anyway. DIdn't RBR upgrade from CASIO to Heuer quite recently.

ROLEX as a major F1 sponsor probably has a contract limiting the visibility of rival brands in F1 too.

Gasly has always been rather gobby...when RedBull sent him to Japan Super Formula instead of STR in 2017, he publicly whined on and on about it not being fair and how he "deserved" the F1 seat

I think he wildly over-estimates his own talent and worth to the RedBull organisation.

Ocon was not suggested by me but on a lighter note when the President leaves office due to being not as popular as he thought he was (Gasly syndrome) perhaps he could ask Renault for a seat fitting if only Monsieur Macron's head was too big to go inside an F1 helmet.:bandit:

I don't know where I stand on Macron, but in his defence if that fat sexist Brazilian oaf President Bolsonaro had a public go at my missus then I'd batter him.

As for Renault, it must be time for their 5 yearly "pull out of F1 and sell the team" antics soon?

I think returning in 2016 was a halo project favoured by their very crooked CEO Mr Ghosn wasn't it, and Renault Nissan and Mitsubishi have all fired him now.

They should have stopped as an engine supplier only then bask in the glory if one of it's customer teams had some success. But public engine failures doesn't help them sell more cars on a Monday like Ford used to claim. Agree about the moron allowing destruction of the Amazon Rain Forest for personal gain no doubt. Perhaps the FIA should drop the Sao Paulo round to punish him.

The FIA have nothing to do with it.

Liberty are the latest venture capitalists in charge of the schedule and I think a brand new track in Rio is on the cards for 2021.

This will finally stop F1 going to the increasingly rundown and dangerous Interlagos. To be honest the current track is a pale imitation of the 1940 to 1980 original, and the annual armed robbery of team personnel will surely turn fatal one day.

FP1 just finished which won't tell us much with Ferrari 1st and 2nd on softs, RBR 3rd and 4th on softs and the two Mercs 5th and 6th on mediums.

  • Author

FP2 and the low downforce Ferrari just miles ahead on single lap pace. 0.85 seconds to be exact.

However, long race pace runs on softs had Ferrari a second slower per lap than Mercedes & RedBull.

Confusing.

New 3 year contract for Perez till 2022. He's quick, experienced, why not?

Horner says RB are willing to look outside their driver pool for 2020. That might delay Hulk from signing anything elsewhere?

Or Haas, but if there's really a chance of a Red Bull seat who else is available for 2020 that Horner would sign?

Vettel?  Horner knows Seb is contracted to Ferrari next year but hey contracts are for breaking in F1

I think Vettel or Hulk are the only 2 that Red Bull would likely take.

If Vettel were to move, would Ferrari go for Riccardo? His Renault contract is believed to have a release clause if Ferrari or Mercedes offer a seat.
