And we promise not to laugh at your tractor sound track, your clouds of black smoke, or your probably messy eating habits (how do you spill so much diesel when filling up?) :D

I wasn't gonna get bitchy, but as I don't fill up very often I'm not used to using the pump!!

Seriously though on one run down the M5 did get 40mpg out of the Octy - was only doing 60ish though.

I'm surprised none of us deisel brigade have taken the mickey out of your 'impressive' fuel consumption figures.

I will resist the temptation for as long as I can.

Fire away, but be prepared for the backlash...

Alternatively, we could just pass you at say... 150 mph ? :D

Well he's "SuperChipped" so you probably have the same power

Well' date=' i'm betting you were wafting along nicely until i passed you...hahaha

No wonder she wasnt too chuffed ;)[/quote']

I've just found this post you cheeky bugger! Why I oughtta.... But I won't because you're considerably larger than me.

And I believe the light flashing was when I spotted the McDs.

And then we could pass you at the next service station while you're filling up :p

Ohhh i think we'd be far enough ahead to make that unlikely ;)

Anyway. You'd be too busy Swissol-ing yours :p

On a private road of course!

 Yeah, right.

Ahh, but that's the thing. With Swissol you don't have to wax all that often. Try it - you know you want to!! :D :D

You should wax more often Howard, particularly your legs and the palms of your hands ;)

And i aint paying

I'm confused where this

Or the double road tax you'd have to pay here.

Or the larger stack of bank notes you'd have to hand in to actually buy one.

Which means - if you're a company-car driver - more to add to your income before tax every year. So if the boss is paying the petrol bills, why even consider driving a diesel?

Back on topic (or, at least, slightly closer), this was my 103 mile return trip from Duxford.

How many more posts do I need before I can change the text under my username? If Kentish is "Too sensible", I'll be "FAR Too sensible" :)

500 is indeed the "magic" number :)

dont want to sound stupid but is your mpg badly affected when your climate control is switched on (aircon pump running) and also does it affect your power output much with the extra strain of running the pump ?

Mine is almost always set to auto, and it certainly was going both to & from Duxford. Computer still showed 35+ mpg

i dont really understand the climate control settings, but thats probably because im too lazy to read the manual but do you find it works best on auto ? and is the air con pump running when it says econ on the display ? sorry for been a pain but i can never understand the manuals, theres just too many functions,i prefered the old basic style with hot/cold and fast/slow settings

Auto is fine. Press it, set the temp to eg 22 and forget about it. The only thing that ever worries me is that the fan is always working and that I once had one burn out in a Citroen. But then again it was a Citroen.

Also, if you start reading all the manual has to say about the climate control etc you start to lose the will to live half way through.

I leave mine set to 20 on auto.

With the econ setting the aircon compressor is not running.

When the temp drops below 5c then the aircon compressor does not run, even if you have the system set to auto.

Aircon in winter might sound odd, but on damp days like we are having now it removes all the moisture from the air and because of that you dont get steamed up windows.

rich i couldnt agree with you more about the owners manual,i tried reading it but it didnt really make any sense to me so i just mess about with it until it feels right,i just wasnt sure about the air con pump,i just didnt want to have it running constantly in case it damaged it,cant see the pump been cheap

For me, Mattijs it was simple maths. I pay for my own fuel, but I get a car allowance. I got nearly

Just driven the Octy vrs to work today to compare the consumption with the Furby vrs over the same drive.

Journey is just under 20 miles and consists of country A roads, Liverpool city centre and a quick blast down the motorway. Drove as I normally do with carefull consideration for the speeds limits (honest).

Octy vrs 24.7 mpg

Furby vrs 48.2 mpg

That's the main reason why I didn't get an Octy too, (apart from the matching his and hers cars tag), the drive to work everyday would have too much of an impact on the wallet.
