Ideally standard...

I'll give mine anyway: 30 mpg (chipped 4x4).

Niki,

30 - 32 Urban

36 - 38 (sometimes even 40+) on a Motorway run.

No massive changes when chipped.

Thanks guys- just had a call from a v worried man saying he gets 26-29 but his doesn't seem massively out of line from what you say.

Cheers xxx

Standard [until Tue 18th Nov] 2002 Octavia vRS (36K miles).

30 MPG's overall (last 3000 Miles)

38-40mpg@80mph[75mph GPS].

Can get 45-55 in the 60mph-70mph. Using cruise control (courtesy of Big K :D).

Getting around 300 to 320 miles on a full tank (down to wire, extra 30 miles driving after beep).

Averaged 35mpg from Leeds last Saturday (97 miles), best overall MPG yet!!!

Rich

P.S. Could probably get closer to 32-33mpg overall, but sometimes you just have to SMOKE a fool or 2 (must get extra 50 Jabba ponies just incase I meet that bl*sted MR2 faux-boxster-type again on the M1 south of Northampton :nono:)

36 - 38 (sometimes even 40+) on a Motorway run.

How did you do that? 300 miles on cruise control at 55 mph? On a moderate day? With precisely the right tyre pressure? ( & )

I'm sure you weren't particularly exploiting the RS's strengths on those runs... :D

I get 34 mpg at most between two fill-ups.

In a 2002 standard vRS, around town 30-33mph

on a motorway sticking to 80ish 35mph, driving on a motorway doing 65-70 (very difficult to do) up to 40mph

Hope this helps

remapped 4x4....

attachment.php?s=&postid=214588

i'm getting 40-42mpg at 70.

35mpg at 80-85.

up to 27-28 urban.

currently on 31mpg overall average.

very happy :)

Well, I am actually worried about the petrol usage. Even when I have long trips with lots of motorways I can barely get it to 30mpg...

30mpg around town.

35 on an average run

40ish on a good motorway run at a bout 75mph.

45 once when I was really carefull (no fun though ;) )

that was more like the consumption of my last RS, although it was slightly better.

these things can be variable i guess. my 330d had horrendous economy as did others although some were pleased with them. 22 in town  34 on the motorway. i'm getting better with the RS. :D

Standard RS, 19,000 miles on clock, I get 36 mpg.

Guess it depends on the individual car and the driving style. I do have my moments but usually drive pretty sensibly !

Not that I can relate to Q's problem - I can get, say, 35 mpg on a motorway trip, with some fun added in between - but how do some of the others manage anything close of even above 40 mpg?

What average are we talking here? Single-trip average, single-tank average, average over a couple of months?

Ian: 42 mpg average (that is the average window you are showing?) - what did you do? That must have been the epitomy of self-control! Which can't be said of some of your other activities... :D;)

Ian: 42 mpg average (that is[/i'] the average window you are showing?) - what did you do?

IIRC, that was the result of a Birmingham->Manchester trot up the M6, which at times due to the volume (and idiocy) of traffic naturally limits itself to economical speeds. In a humble 1.6 I manage to get just over 45mpg on such a journey.

Managed to get about 24mpg on a little jaunt round the M60 night before last though... ;)

Rob.

Its got a 5 speed box Q :D

My "massively over modified beyond tolerances" ( ;) ) RS gets:

Motorway cruise indicated 80 (74 true) is 36

Motorway cruise 3000rpm is 38

A road cruise 35

A road, rather briskly 32

Town, 28

UK track 11

Ring 6

Overall average so far is 32.5

Its got a 5 speed box Q

It does?

Ian, try revving you car over 2.5k

Jon - those figures are pretty good - I can't get anywhere near that (admittedly I dont very often try).

Motorways: 33

All other roads: less!

I've often wandered if there is something wrong with my Skod - like Q - the consumption is not great. My last full tank of BP Super for example did me for 220 miles! Not particularly great! A tank ususally lasts me 240-260 miles - I have ONCE managed to get over 300 (310 to be precise) and my GOD was that boring - all the way down the M4 at 60mph!

During the first 8,000 miles(prior to Jabba) 29.8mpg(taken from on board computer memory) 3,200 miles post Jabba 30.1mpg!! - also from computer

Fairly good mix of urban/dual carriageway driven quite hard 40+ miles a day.

Am I happy?? -- Oh YES.

Dave W - I agree economy is definately better post Jabba!
