Lowering

Featured Replies

@JR RS Thank you for your advice :)

I note the Eibach's lower the front more than the rear, whereas the H&R's lower both by the same amount. Why would I want to lower the front more, when it's the rear of my car that sits naturally higher? Won't this just accentuate the difference?

Both sets are comparable price wise, what would you go for, especially as I'd like to limit the lowering to produce a 'tasteful' aesthetic?

Just for reference, I do not have DCC (I don't believe it was available on this engine/model) and it's just FWD (I believe there was a 4x4 1.4TSI variant).

The Superb's body by design is nose down, rear up, liftback & wagon.

Ur not exaggerating it with the Eibach springs....if any, it will b minimal.

Mine sits evenly (based on the wheel arches) front & rear on the Eibach Pro-kit springs.

@MartiniB Thank you for your reply. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box, so can you help clarify whether it actually helps with my desire to only lower my car by 20mm (max 25mm)? Lowering springs specifically for my vehicle all want to lower it by 30-35mm, which is too much. I was wondering whether I could employ shorter (?) springs designed for a different variant or even model (maybe one that sits lower out of the factory e.g. maybe a SportLine model?) so as to achieve my desired look.

Eibach Pro F11-79-008-01-HA will add 10-15mm lowering on FWD Superb

@MartiniB We're getting closer! 😄 So that code is for just one spring, would I need the same for the front and back? The kit that includes the part you have listed is E10-79-008-01-22, which also includes F11-85-012-03-VA. This kit claims to lower the compatible vehicle (Yeti) by 30-35mm, so how does it only lower my vehicle by 10-15mm? Please excuse my ignorance, I really don't know anything about the mechanics of these things, but I imagine I'll understand the concept once informed appropriately.

Yeti is on longer springs as standard.

@netman82

i can suggest rear springs due weight isn't so much different on the rear axle,

but front springs, which were confirmed on my 2.0, will be too hard and high on your 1.4 Superb

for front axle you have to play lottery by your self, as i did, looking in to table,

both red, will give less lowering on your 1.4 than on 2.0

image.png

image.png

Thank you @MartiniB The options in red appear to be shorter in length according to your table, so surely they will lower my car the most? Perhaps I have misunderstood what length means in this context.

@netman82

if 11-85-042-03-FA lowers 2.0 engine for 30 mm, then 1.4 will bee 10-15 mm higher

length is without load

@MartiniB

Ok, so with your spreadsheet in mind, 11-85-042-03-FA may lower my car by 15-20mm on the front end, and 11-85-041-01-VA may lower it further, perhaps 25-30mm?

You mentioned above that you can suggest rear springs, which would they be?

Given these springs aren't specifically for my vehicle, will they likely make the ride firmer, as presumably they are designed for heavier vehicles?

Sport mode is nice n firm.  Comfort mode is still comfortable 👍

Before - 690mm from fender to ground (front & rear)
After - 670mm from fender to ground (front & rear)
Should drop another 5mm or so in the next few weeks.

I'm very happy with it.

Not too much.

Not too little.

Top half of each pic is After.

Bottom half is Before.

Hi @JR RS

Im also looking for the right solution for my Superb and wondering which EIbach lowering kit you went for.

The E10‑85‑042‑02‑22 or 04-22

Check out his project thread here - he uses E10‑85‑042‑02‑22 according to that

Thanks.

By mistake, when ordering, I selected the 04-22 and im trying to figure out if it would still be suitable for the car. (1.4 IV with DCC)

Do you by any chance know if i can move forward without getting into trouble with the dcc

@rsna

my guess is made by looking to springs specs -

with E10-85-042-04-22 kit iV front will have ~ +5 mm and rear ~ +25 mm instead E10-85-042-02-22

in any case that will be lowering when compare to OE

E10-85-042-02-22 = F11-85-041-01-VA + F11-15-007-04-HA

E10-85-042-04-22 = F11-85-042-03-FA + F11-85-016-10-HA

you can start by install just rear, that is cheaper

Ur DCC will still b happy, however ideally u need to perform a DCC Recalibration procedure after installing the springs.

@MartiniB

You're probably right – the plate on the car shows the current specs:

Front 1130 kg

Rear 1200 kg

image.png

The ratings from E10-85-042-04-22 is 1200 kg front and 1250 kg rear, so it's a difference of 70 kg front and 50 kg rear.

I'm hoping it'll still settle okay. Maybe not the full 30–35 mm drop like the rates say, but that’s alright with me.

@JR RS

Thanks, I will have it done when everything is replaced.

Further information.

The Tüv states that the F11-85-042-03-FA + F11-85-016-10-HA are the only one compatible with the IV (PHEV)

Here in DK it can be an issue if you need to have the car through an MOT and the person is a jerk.

In this case all documentation needs to be in order.

Let see how everything turn out. Pictures will follow when installed, and thank both of you for your time.

Just to add my 10p worth.

I’ve ran both my previous diesel 4x4 (white one) and my current 272 (4x4) with koni special actives and h&r springs for many many miles and never had an issue.

The konis are a great shock and ride is way better then standard sportline spec.

Fully loaded still really good ride and my current set have done over 120k miles with no issues

Hey again,

Installed and rolling .... Overall a much better feel compared to stock. No more wobbling around like being on a ferry in rough seas. 😂

@MartiniB as you predicted, it's sitting a bit lower in the rear than the front.

The TÜV papers mention that the 11-85-016-10-HA should be installed with a thicker spring plate on top when used on a heavier car.

Anyone who installed this and noticed a slight raise in the rear?

Hmm, nevermind me asking for the thicker top plate. This is most likely already installed when it a IV 🫣

I hope u didn't put the E85 springs in ur wagon.

If u did, that would explain the lower rear end drop.

E85 is for the liftback/sedan (3V3), which has a much less heavier backend.

E79 is for the wagon (3V5). Hence if u put sedan springs at the rear, it will drop more.

@JR RS why isn't the 79 then stated in the tuv for the IV estate?

And yes they are mounted 🫣
