hi is it every 5 years or 120000 which ever comes first

There have been a few discussions on this.

I don't know how the system works as mine is 6.5 yrs old with nearly 60k on the the clock & the belt has not been changed.

It's due a major service next month & when I asked what was needed, a few things were mentioned but not the belt.

It was only when I asked that I was told it was due + the water pump.

Likewise there was no mention of changing the oil in the DSG until I asked. That will also be done.

Why doesn't the system flag up these items ? Why does the customer have to ask?

I'm covered by Skoda's all component protection, so if the DSG failed because the oil hadn't been changed I would still expect to be covered as Skoda know when the oil should be changed. It's not my fault it hadn't been done which I now believe is every 40k.

It does. When the service advisor complies the checklist for the technician to tick off on the service, it gives you a table of additional items to add in. It lists when they are due at what mileage and age.

I hate to say it but I've always been under the impression that its the responsibility of the owner/holder to ensure everything is maintained on time.  I've certainly never trusted a dealer to tell me when it is due.  I visited a dealer around easter to have CP removed from a head unit and got a message the day that I was due a service.  It's not due until January and that is based on my own more regular annual regime rather than the long life that is usually suggested.

Your profile says you have a 1.6 TDI. The DSG is a 7 speed dry clutch and does not require any oil change. Only the 6 speed wet clutch used in 2.0 TDI require oil change at every 40k.

Might be time to ditch the dealer, they are obviously not helping you to look after your car.

But I also believe it is up to the owner to look after their car. First thing I did when I bought my car second hand was to go to Skoda website and start a web-chat. I asked apart from doing service when prompted by the car, what other maintenance need to be carried out. For my 2.0 TDI DSG, they said timing belt every 5 years 140k miles and DSG oil every 40k.

(120k vs 140k doesn't really matter IMO, you'll unlikely to hit that over 5 years)

Mmmm. Time to have a word with my "trusted" dealer to clarify.

Even less reason for the customer not to be told what's due.  After all they want to make as much money as possible out of you.

I'll be talking to the dealer before servicing as the gearbox may not need an oil change as I was told.
