ANY HAPPY BOYS (OR GIRLS) AROUND?

Recommended Posts

I ordered a 1.5 manual SE drive Octavia, in the 1st week of September.

It was build week 42, it arrived in the UK (don't know where) on the 14th of Nov, I picked it up nr Glasgow on Wednesday (28th).

Dunno if the above will help anyone but it gives me a chance to post this (again)...

Well. another week and last conversation with dealership is still at port of entry. (Grimsby).

See how long it takes to get across the Irish Sea to Northern Ireland? A return trip of less than 24 hours.

I read somewhere the other day that Skoda imported less than 1500 units (All models?) into the UK in November.  So that is not even a full boat load! 😠

Why oh why does it take so long?  (I know, I'm not the only customer but customer orders should take priority over stock vehicles!)

Chances of a pre-Christmas delivery are looking slim.

Dependant on election result, picking up a VRs Challenge hatch in white with sunroof and virtual cockpit on Saturday. Got a great deal after service to my VRs diesel 4 x 4 estate dumped all its oil 30 miles after service. “Faulty” oil filter gasket blamed.

Wellllll. It is hoped that it being making an appearance this week.  Hassled Skoda UK a bit.

En route to dealers this last week. So let's see if it is in my mitts by Christmas. 🎅

Had mine 2 weeks now, very happy with it. So much so, ive ordered a Scala for the wife which will be here early/mid Jan (a stock car that was already on the boat)

My only niggle is that i cant figure out how to make it stay in sport mode rather than defaulting back to normal every time you start it. The 18reg golf courtesy car the wife currently has (crashed her Fiat 500 last week, a month before it goes back, doh!) stays in sport mode.

As i said before, your car is about 4 weeks behind mine, so my guess is you'll get it in a couple more weeks, they might be able to rush it out before crimbo.

IIRC 2019 models default back to normal as a result of firmware changes to improve the WLTP economy/emission results.

18 plate means registered between March and August 2018, so if it is a 2019 model year it will be an early one.

There have been several threads on here from 2019 model owners saying that theirs doesn't stay in Sport mode, the key difference seems to be firmware versions were changed during the 2019 model year and that's when this problem started so early 2019 model year cars won't have this issue.

But if I leave it in eco mode the gearbox reverts back to normal. I have to put it into eco mode again for the gearbox to go back to eco aswel. Very strange. Good job I never use eco

Arrived this Wednesday 18th! Too late to do anything  about picking it up as it has to go to a Mobility Aids specialist for a wheelchair hoist to be fitted and they closed midday Friday until 2nd Jan!

Even the wife aint happy now!

This is the same for my 67 reg Octavia 2.0tdi sel DSG estate, quite frustrating at first as I always left my previous 1.6 DSG Octavia estate in eco. Now I just can't be fussed with it, less fun to drive means less smiles 🙄😆

First proper run out in the octy today, after 3 weeks of just commuting.

260 mile jaunt North to South with wife, 2 kids, dog in cage in boot, rest of boot fully loaded with clothes and Xmas pressies.

Totally effortless, car even though fully loaded pulled like a train and boot swallowed everything. Even played with the digital radio gadget, Xmas songs to keep the family happy, as apparently Slayer on my sd card wasn't very festive.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well guys & girls. Finally took delivery on Friday 10th January!

Looks good but..........

2 things missing on what is supposed to be SE L spec.  Front Assist & Cornering lights!  I can switch the Front assist on and off via controls but no sensors on front bumper!

Will be contacting the dealers on Monday to see what's up. Grrrrrrr!

I have front assist and front parking sensors on my se tech. I have bumper sensors. Wife's scala has front assist but no front parking sensors, no bumper sensors. Front assist is a radar that should be behind your grill, there'll be nothing on the bumper. Don't think the sel gets front parking sensors, so you won't see anything on the bumper

As above, there are no visible sensors for front assist, it’s a radar behind the grill. Cornering lights and cornering fog lights are now different with LED headlights. Cornering lights means extra LED’s come on in the inner 2 sections of the lights when cornering.

OK Brighty75 & SashaGrace (My late mother was a Grace & one of my great nieces is one too. 😁)

Thanks for this info. Not overly clear on the handbook on anything! 😀

Will persevere and see what the dealers have to say tomorrow.

well. I'm trying to replace one 1.0 TSI with another... it can't have been that bad if I'm looking for a second one. Happily it's already at the dealer so I can pick up a week on Friday :)
