Hello guys,

I own a 2014 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI MT version in India. I'm not satisfied with the headlights, it's a halogen unit.

If I'm not wrong it's H7 for low beam and H15 for highbeam as per Powerbulbs website. 

I wanted to know what are the upgrades possible? And which bulbs are the best incase anyone on this forum has upgraded.

Hi R, I've just upgrade mine, fogs done last night. 

I used Mtec bulbs, I've used them before.

I have used Osram Nightbreakers in the past, they are really brighter but their lifetime is much sorter (30-50%).

Previously I’ve used Nightbreakers & never had an issue with longevity. Generally have lasted at least 2 years and 30k miles which I’m happy with. 
This time for a change I’ve gone for Philips Racing Vision H7 bulbs. Only changed the low beam so far.

I've ordered Philips H7 Xtreme Vision Plus only for low beam, will try it out and give the feedback.

I have just upgraded my standard oem halogens on my transit connect to Phillips Xtreme vision Racing H7 lamps and can say they are a massive improvement.

Around £21 a pair from ECP.

Can only assume similar results on any other vehicle running standard H7 lamps 👍

I changed mine the day I got mine so I can't compare as I didn't drive at night with the stock bulbs. However they are much whiter, so #i am more than happy.

My Mk3 and my current car has HID's but our Mk2 has 4 Nightbreakers fitted, They have been in 3 years and still going strong.

I had the GE 150% brighter from halfords in my old Oct 3 scout - they were good

I put Phillips X-tremeVision (130% brighter) in my sons and daughters car, miles better than stock but also have decent life in them.  Beware of the Racing version (150% brighter) as they have a really short life before they die!! It's a balance between life and brightness but the Phillips are very good.

Does it do well with halogen setup reflectors? 

I used them in a Saab with reflectors and they were good, they give a whiter and longer range, I have just bought some for my wife's Fiesta with reflectors and will fit them when they arrive.

I finally got Philips Xtreme vision plus for low beam, and it is better than stock ones. The beam is a bit wider and the throw is more. Although it's not like a big difference incase if any of you are looking for some. It's a good upgrade and would definitely recommend you. 

I'm planning to change the fog lamps from halogen to LED.

I agree that the +30% bulbs are good.. but the +50% have a noticeably shorter life.

 

osram silver star were good and lasted a very long time even when most of my mileage was night driving.

I'm on the same boat and after some market research I'm seriously considering Philips WhileVision H7.

 

What puts me off is I can't find the equivalent H15 version to pair with

I used LEDPerform to get a matching set (H7, H8 & H15's) of MTEC bulbs, so they were all the same colour 

 

I think as most have found, you don't get a great distance improvement but, the sharper colour does help a lot

As in my previous post, i used Mtec bulbs all round. 

Got them from all different places trying to get all the same K rating. Two were 4350k, which were the main ones. The H15 , are 5500k as could not get 4350k, because, as i was informed, they dont make them anymore. 

Just go on your usual search engine, and put it in there. Some come from China, no probs. 👍

IIRC you need to alter the brightness level of the dlrs otherwise, they come out a bit yellow

I put to my reflectors headlights h7 osram nightbraker to the low beam & in high beam the philips racing vision h7 and the results is very good. double light in the road.
