Yeah best time now 1:28:33. F1 announce use of sustainable fuels by 2026. Is this electricity or hydrogen fuel cell technology perhaps?

One story I read said it would be synthetic fuels made by extracting atmospheric carbon - so it would be carbon negative.

Pirelli weren't told the Istanbul Park track was being resurfaced.

They've made and brought the wrong tyres as a result.

No wonder the teams are struggling to switch on this choice of compounds.

Oh dear fresh tarmac, rain and powerful rear wheel drive F1 cars doesn't make for a very quick lap time oh and the wrong Pirelli tyres thrown into the mix. Max 30 seconds a lap slower than yesterday on a dry track in Q1.

Both McLaren's and both Ferrari's out in Q2. LeClerc surprised that he was 6 seconds slower than Max. Back to the drawing board for 2021 then.

Lance Stroll on Pole for the Turkish GP as Racing Point and RBR dominate the first 2 rows.

First GP this season without a Mercedes on pole. Verstappen must be favourite for the win tomorrow.

Reminder Turkish GP starts earlier than usual at 10:10 GMT to see if Hamilton can match Schuey's 7th World Title.

16 degree track temperature with cars crashing on the way to the grid. Could be more spins than rock around the clock today.

I think today will be a case of, 'To finish first, first you have to finish'.

Hamilton might be happy to collect 8 points for 6th place. Seb holding everyone up and helping his team mate for next season perhaps in the process.

This must be Bottas worst performance driving for Mercedes already 88 seconds behind the leader after 24 laps and from 17th place unlikely to score a single point.

Well wasn't expecting the Ferraris to be in front of Verstappen. Hamilton master class? only one pit stop.

Simply incredible from Lewis from 6th to his 94th F1 win and 7th World Title. Who will predict his desire to make 2021 number 8. Just like Senna and Schumacher the rain meister shines again.:bandit:

Racing Point drivers.

Scores since Monza.

Perez 66 points,     Vettel 17 points,     Stroll 2 points.

Perez sponsors also bring in something like $15 million? $20 million?

but the points he is scoring on track are going to win more than that in prize money too.

You'd have to be mad to let him go....

Meanwhile at the front, if Red Bull want to be taken seriously as contenders by anyone (but particularly the Verstappen's)

shouldn't they win easily when Merc qualify 6 / 9?

Hence my earlier prediction that one Mr Horner will replace Albon with Perez who will at least bring many points to RBR and perhaps even keep Max honest.

Just noticed Sergio has racked up 100 points this year despite missing 2 races.

That's quite amazing for anyone outside the top 3 teams.

Last year Carlos was best of the rest with 96.

And Albon has 70 points this season from 14 starts. And brings very little sponsorship money.

14 starts in a potentially race-winning car...

So how did the other contenders for "best driver in F1" do this week?

Max spinning to 6th place?

Charles giving up 2nd ( and 3rd ) with 2 corners to go?

Daniel nowhere?

Bottas way out past nowhere.

So Hamilton can qualify a Mercedes that just didn't work 5.5 seconds off pole and 2 rows behind Max and still win by half a minute.

What a psychological blow for all the others.

Except Perez.
