Lew's VRS tweaks (BOBA)

Featured Replies

Hello all

This is my first! ever car i have bought and i wanted it to be something interesting.

Firstly let me say that a lot of theese tweaks that i've done have either been inspired or suggested by some of the amazing people on here and by no means are many of the original but i think the combination of them and the fact its been done so recently is worth me posting it for other to read,

so my car is a mk2 fabia vrs with a CAVE engine (yes i know) there's a couple of engine codes but nothing has actually been affecting the car one some initial work was done on it since i bought it. also the car does not in 6 months appear to be drinking or burning oil touch wood, so im happy with it for not

its done 52,500 miles 2500 of them are from me, and its a 2012 model so is getting on slightly now.

I am by no means a mechanic or even a confident diy'er but i was and still am keen to learn. although that being said i've called it tweaks as i don't have the knowledge or time to spend several hundred pounds in one go on anything such as a air intake kit exhaust, big brake kit or remapping etc.

i've literally had to learn owning a car from scratch so even really basic stuff has been from the ground up and once again reading advice on here has helped me be confident enough to do the work.

6 months in i feel i've definitely left my mark on the car and although many bits aren't stock my overall aim is to have it sympathetic to a stock vrs with a few touches here and there. i'll update as i go along now but i have enough updates to make it worth starting this thread.

Also forgot to mention the project name or car name possibly is BOBA as i'm a star wars fan and the black and green colours of the car reminded me of boba fett a lot, which is a theme i've made a couple of hints to recently with these decals which i hope aren't too garish amongst a pretty stock looking car. This is the way!!

Some new bits came in the post today from superskoda. Managed to fit them with quite a bit of fiddling and some small tools without removing the wheels. Firstly I like the look. The black works and I think it's a. Ice subtle nod to Skoda's rally division. Also hopefully there'll be. Small practical effect of keeping the sides a bit cleaner for longer after I wash it. I know it won't make lots of different but maybe just a bit less muddy spray.

Also didn't realize how wide the rear ones are and noticable from the back which was a pleasant surprise.

Hope people like the addition. And again making it a bit more my own.

So one of the visual modifications I've made was on the interior specifically the driver footwell. I have been tempted to buy rubber mats because the carpet gets so dirty quickly. Anyways due to the vrs being a dsg auto there's a foot resting plate for your left foot which is plastic. Found this online and as well as being better for durability being metal I feel it adds to the look of the pedals and the door sill metal. If anyone's interested in where I got it I'll post a link.

Hi Lew145, I think the green is a spot on colour, I had a test drive at my local Skoda dealer when these came out new and thought it was quite quick but prefer a manual cog stirrer, and wifey wasn't keen.

Looking good.

Martin
