I'll be dang but I found it  next step after installing I want to find ODB11 to enable GEM and try to activate smartlink, not workng now.

I have found the following for my system using mib-helper.com (Software Train:MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0369T) and I have hardware H30. Would there be any advantages to installing the P0480T firmware, and could it cause any problems as it is not the official firmware?

It will not work for you as you have unit without navigation (Bolero).

The question is if you have unit with built-in OEM sat nav (Amundsen) or without (Bolero) - this can be done in both but in Bolero it requires unit to be open, soldered and some files modified in EMMC.

Can anyone (maybe @pab567, who seems to be a gem on these forums) help me out with my infotainment screen on my 2014 5E Octavia?

 

I recently bought one used and just registered on these forums, too. I'd love to firstly see if there is an update available (if so, what changes would it make to apply the update) and secondly, what would be the cheapest option to go for Apple Carplay? I wouldn't be using CD/DVD streaming, DAB, NAV or any other feature. Just Carplay and native Skoda "CAR" section and settings.

So now you have Bolero MIB1, with Bluetooth, without DAB, part number 5E0035819A and fortunately you don't have CANTON sound system (as your Bolero has no MOST).

 

You can install one of four different OEM glove box units:

- MIB2 Bolero
- MIB2 Amundsen
- MIB2 Columbus
- MIB2.5 Columbus

 

You also need to replace display unit:

- for MIB2 Bolero you can use either 6.5" model number 5E0919605H or 8" model number 5E0919605N
- for MIB2 Amundsen and MIB2 Columbus you can use listed above display as well as 6.5" model number 5E0919605J, 8" model number 5E0919606, 8" model number 5E0919605M
- for MIB2.5 Columbus the only display unit that works is 5E0919606D

 

If you woulkd like to use Apple CarPlay then you also have to replace USB port (if you have Media In interface instead of USB then it must be replaced with USB anyway).

 

The question is what is your budget and which of listed below features are "must have":
- Video playback from DVD, USB, SD
- CD playback
- OEM navigation
- displaying OEM maps in Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display).

 

All units support SmartLink (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink), rear view camera, voice command. features that differ them:
- MIB2 Bolero - no OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB
- MIB2 Amundsen - OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)
- MIB2 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, no support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)
- MIB2.5 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

@pab567, thank you so much for the swift reply!

 

To reflect on the query regarding the must haves, I do not need video playback, CD playback, OEM navigation, or OEM maps either, as I do not have the virtual cockpit. The cheapest way to obtain Carplay would be the way to go on this one.

 

As I understand, to get Carplay, I would need: A screen, the glovebox unit and a USB port. I've read somewhere that also CP removal is required. Could you please tell me more about that? Will someone with an OBD11 be able to do it, or will I have to go to a dealer?

 

Also, I wouldn't mind having Mirrorlink instead of Carplay either, as I think that would also allow me to display Google Maps. Would you say that'd be a cheaper route than going with Carplay?

 

EDIT: I think I figured through the MIB website that there is no firmware update for my current setup?

New unit must be patched (hacked) to have new features activated.

MirrorLink is already dead and it worked ONLY with very few Android based phoYes, you already have the latest version MSTD_EU_SK_P6230 (0490)
