Hi everyone, so I am dropping the info here, Škoda was very quiet about this.

They were supposed to unveil the Škoda Superb RS in Geneva but as it got canceled. I am sure they will do a digital premier soon.

If it’s happening and it improves in key areas of the Sportline, suspension/ride/handling then I think it could be a winner. A higher output, 310+ PS tune and/or an ABT pack or similar would be a bonus too.

Danger is that it becomes another trim level with engines/spec that is available elsewhere in the range.  IMO it should be the halo model.

Only reservation is pricing....it would surely cost ~£45k, maybe more. That’s in the firing line of some pretty competent, proven performance cars.

A Superb RS would be very nice, but in the VAG perspective Skoda cannot bother Audi, and a Superb RS would do it, IMHO.
In any case, it would be my dream a EA855 Superb, but I believe they will never produce it.

Is any car maker really going to highlight a planet killer - think of the children...

and that assumes none of us catch soft lads flu/man flu(!)/trollitis from the keyboard 😉

That would be annoying as someone who just placed an order on a sportline

I’m unconvinced by this rumour.

Unlikely to impress me because fitting bigger wheels won't help the ride and it won't be as cheap as my rocket launcher. It will be as big a failure as the £43,000 Kodiaq RS.

Apparently for the proper launch it's having a set of virus filters added, and also virus detectors so no-one gets sick, or seemingly deliberately spreads any illnesses by going to the doctors or work.

VAG is sometime surprising...

Why did they give green lights for Ateca Cupra then... Not so far from an Audi RSQ3 MK1 in the end. And... Wayyyy cheaper! ;)

Because they already had the Leon Cupra. SEAT was always the sportiest brand out of the 3 'normal' (i.e. not Audi) brands. Tiguan R will have the same powertrain. There's never been an AWD petrol Octavia RS, and you think there's a reasonable chance we're getting a Superb RS?

Superb RS?!?!?! :D

my my my - looks like the coronavirus is now affecting the rumour mill big time!!

They cant (or dont) weant to make Octavia RS with a proper engine (golf R), what are they going to do with Superb?

Unless it's going to be a very fast hybrid, I can't see a Superb RS (vRS) arriving anytime soon.  Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see one... I'm monitoring the Octavia vRS iV myself...that may be the replacement for the Superb (Mrs has a 20-plate Fabia SE on the way - so don't need the big barge as often...).

Superb RS with an inline-5 turbocharged engine? Proper race mode for gearbox and exhaust with a flap? With a revised suspension: lower stance, stiffer shocks, stiffer anti-sway bars? Different bumpers and wider fenders front and rear and a bigger spoiler, for more downforce and road presence and cooling in the right areas? Wider wheels in 18, 19 and 20 inch options? Racing seats, green seatbelts, alcantara steering wheel with a center bar?

I don't think this is ever going to happen.

Someone did, somewhat, make it happen, kind off.....

.....by hacking together the bottom half of Z4 bumper with top half of a Superb bumper!!!

Personally I like it.  Wish whoever made this could make another one for me......

Looks more like a 4 Series M Sport front bumper to me.

A "Superb RS" would be a much appreciated addition. It's the only thing that keeps giving me second thoughts of switching from my 272 Sportline to a more "traditionally sporty" sedan. Main reason is the Sportline, apart from few cosmetic changes and a tad firmer suspension when DCC , does not differentiate the car enough from the L&K to turn it into a proper sport variant.

I would not care about increased power output at all. 265, 272, 280, 290, 300, 310 are all different outputs with which the same gen3 2.0 TSI unit has come out in the guises of Cupra, GTI Clubsport, Golf R, S3 in order to create the fake, but necessary marketing gap between them. It's common knowledge that at the end of the day, all those cars map to exactly the same Stage 1 numbers so if the problem of approving a Superb RS is the output on paper, they might as well give it 250bhp if they want, as long as it keeps the same engine it's irrelevant where the factory maps settles.

What a RS would really need if it came out would be suspension and chassis improvements. A DCC and springs at the firmness levels of a GTI Clubsport, upgraded bushes and anti roll bars, and a pair of true bucket seats that can keep you in place, other than the ones Skoda fits to their current Octavia RS and Superb Sportline and dares calling them sports seats. Better brakes would not hurt either, but that is not going to happen of-course so I am limiting the upgrades to items that are already available from the other MQB siblings. Those upgrades are not radical and as they are items that exist already within  the group it is more a matter of studying the choice of components than actually doing bespoke design so it should also keep the cost reasonable. There would be visual upgrades of-course but that's secondary.

To be honest I don't think there's many chances of such a project anyway but I'd certainly be glad if these rumours came true and even more if the car followed more or less the above wishes/suggestions.

I don't believe anything.

Just say that VAG can surprise us. Don't mind which brand and model ;) ...
