What size wheels/tyres will fit to Superb III

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Would need some advice what size wheels & tyres to choose for the coming summer to replace original 17". I have couple options in my mind and would really appreciate if someone has the knowledge and can even share some pics of the below options. I have also Eibach -40mm lowering springs in place.

1. 245/35R20 tyre with 20x8,5" ET35

2. 245/40R20 tyre with 19x9,5" ET35

Option 1. will fit for sure but I would prefer the option 2. because of the bad roads here :) Just not sure if that would fit.

Typing error in option 2. It is of course R19

For bad roads you need 17" rims!

HAHA, It's not that bad. But worried about the noise if going for the 20"

Many Superb owners here in Oz have made the switch from 235/40/19 to 245/40/19 with no issues, even with lowering springs.

It's cheaper n a more popular size.

I'll b making the switch too from 235 to 245 once my factory P7s r end of life.

With regards to 20" rims, u can do 255/30/20 on the 280 Superb.

But comfort will b severely compromised.

i used https://tiresize.com/comparison/  to calculate

not listed 225/55/r17 will be better than stock 215/55/r17

pros:
+ 10mm wider
+ 5mm higher
+ closer values to real speed on the speedometer

there are sizes which have been met on different Superb III models

2.0TSI	217hp	Diameter
215/55r17 -	26.3"	0%	****
235/45r18 -	26.3"	0%
235/40r19 -	26.4"	+0.4%
255/35r19 -	26.0"	-1.1%
245/35r20 -	26.8"	+1.9%

255/30r20 -	26.0"	-1.1%
1.4TSI	123hp
215/60r16 -	26.2"	-0.4%
1.4TSI	148hp ACT

235/50r17 -	26.3"	0%
2.0TDI	188hp
235/35r20 -	26.5"	+0.8%

and there are sizes which also fits well

225/55r17 -	26.7"	+1.5%
235/50r17 -	26.3"	0%
240/45r18 -	26.5"	+0.8%

I had a call with wheel sales and they told 9,5" is too wide at least for front. So I'll go with the 19x8,5. And wheels I am planning are these.

245/45R18 on standard 8Jx18 ET44 rims is a good choice for looks and comfort. 245/45R18 is a more popular and economical size than 245/40R19. 245/45 on 8J rims better protect the rims from kerbing damage than 245/40 on 8.5J rims.

Car needs wash&wax.

Whats the width of the rims? Have you lowered your car?

I'm thinking of having 19x8,5 et40 at the front and 19x9,5 et35 on the back.

Just don't know if the back wheels will fit?

Rims are 19x8,5 ET35. I would say it will be quite a tight fit in the back with 9,5" ET35 at least if you try to keep the rim inside the fender. I can take better pics how close these are to give you better view.

Thank you that would be really helpful.

i think 9.5" rims would b too wide with stock suspension.

and if ur planning to lower it, forget it!!

i reckon even 8.5" would rub too, with lowered suspension.

Wanted to share pictures of my new (used) wheels on Superb III with DCC.

They are Brock B36 wheels R19 8.5J ET45 and 235/40 tyres.
Will see in following days difference in comfort and handling. Tyres are used, but should be better compared to winter ones.

Unfortunately outer ring on rims is black, so wheels look smaller than they are.

Nice. I was thinking, those don't look like 40 profile tires :)

Just got a Superb 280 SEL executive with 18s on and looking to get a set of winter wheels / tyres.

Just wondering if 17s fit the 280?

Also is 225/50/17 an ok size on them if they do fit?

Seen some 17s for sale but they have an ET54.

I think current ones are ET41? Is that right?

Anyone know if they'll fit?

17" rims with an ET54 offset aren't correct for the Skoda Superb MK3. What width are they? I have seen OEM alloy rims for the Skoda Octavia MK3 with a 7Jx17 ET54 specification as shown here.

Yeah they are 7jx17 ET54 so guessing from an Octavia. Should be ok or not?

According to wheel-size.com the Superb MK3 uses 215/55R17 tyres fitted to 7Jx17 ET40 rims.

ET54 would push each wheel 14mm towards the centre of the car, so your front and rear track would decrease by 28mm.

I would keep the offset between ET35 and ET49. In other words ET42 plus or minus 7mm.

The front steering on cars is set up to suit a narrow range of offsets, perhaps plus or minus 7mm from some central point. Go outside of this range and you are literally dragging your front tyres sideways across the tarmac when you turn the steering wheel.

its the standard 19" Vega Sportline and 19" Trinity L&K wheels that we get here.

Vega = 8.0J x 19“ ET44

Trinity = 8.0J x 19“ ET44
