I'd been thinking about that since i posted and i thought i'd got it wrong!!!!

And yes his 520i is very fast indeed!!!!!;)

what is everybody doing about roadside assistance for the trip ? does the Skoda assist cover the car for european driving ? i had AA option 400 cover but i had this suspended due to being covered by the AA with the Skoda and the previous Fiat i had , i don't think the option400 covers european driving anyway , can't check as i've no paperwork anymore

Well, I think I am ready for the trip now. Just over 1 week to go, and everything booked.

Flight, check.

Hotel, check,

Rental car, check.

So hopefully you will all be checking over your cars and making sure they are ready for the drive to Nurburg. I am not arriving until Saturday morning, via cologne airport. It will make a change having a 1hr flight instead of a long drive.

I'm about ready, but have done sweet F.A prep. my car's still got the PAS issue, and it looks like thanks to the backlog at Skoda I'll be doing the trip with no PAS at all, or at least "dodgy" PAS. Shouldn't be an issue on track though as it's still fine. Its just doing 3 point turns and tight corners at slow speeds which is a PITA.

So looking forward to it,

Are we all going to be meeting somewhere just before the ferry at say 4.30? Some laybe in Dover on the approach to the port?

i wasn't intending getting to Dover till 06.00 , but if you want a mini meet at a services beforehand , i can get down earlier , which would probably be better anyway , i cant wait either

I won't be leaving my house until 5 as we don't need to be at the ferry port until 7.

On another note.

For those coming from t'north on the day before:

AVOID THE AREA AROUND J24-26 OF THE M25!

They are doing 18 months worth of roadworks at J25 and the tailbacks can go for miles both ways during the day.

From the North West the best way would be

M6 to the end' date=' then join the A14. Just before Cambridge join the M11 and get to the M25 after Harlow.

From the [u']North East[/u], Join the A14 from the A1 after Peterborough when it is A1(M) then same as North West

If you are coming down early in the morning you should be ok, just remember they have the distance speed camereas at the roadworks site

Plus, for those that don't know, from the nothern half of the M25 you will have to pay a £1 toll at the Dartford bridge going and the same for the tunnel coming back.

Hang on! Am I getting my Czech ferries and Nurburgring Ferries mixed up? :o

Its a 7.30 leaving time on the Friday morning right? I thought it was 5.30 or something daft.

I'll be coming A303 / M3 so don't think I'll hit any roadworks.

got my euros today! 425 of them! You can tell I never leave the country, the woman in the post office must have thought I was mad haha!

The Ferry for the ring leaves Dover 8am, they want you there 1 hour early

RE: route, it depends what way the sat nav recommends, if it decides to take you north of the M25 ( which it may well do if it is shorter), you will hit the aforementioned roadworks, although at 5am it should not matter.

On another note, I've heard a rumour that you are with me big boy.

On another note' date=' I've heard a rumour that you are with me big boy.[/quote']

hes with you where?

hes with you where?

I should think we're room-mates for the weekend then! Nowt more! :P :P

Oh, I heard brothels were legal in germany now, as well as in Czech Republic. Very tenuous link to topic, but with me tenuous is enough. :D

As an aside, does anyone recommend taking hard currency as opposed to using VISA? Its just I would struggle to spend 425 euos I think. Thats £300 odd and its only a 3 days trip really. :D

Edit: Just phoned my bank to get the lowdown on charges on VISA, and its quite a bit. So in order to pay for food and drink AND the laps + fuel, it looks like £300 is about right.

Just an add on and let people know, I spoke to Alex to see if this was still ok....

I would imagine that if we take some airbeds incase some other people just come along and tag along.

I know of at least one fellow Briskodian who might be doind this.

But the people who do this buy the drinks!!!!!!

.... As someone from work was eager to come along, especially after hearing me and my union rep (who goes over quite often on his bike) talking about the places to go and the center parcs.

He said it was ok with him as long as theres not too many people, but the same rule applies and he sleeps on the couch.

So £50 worth of euros will be added to the alcohol fund and I'll have a passenger along with me to help me get lost (when in France a few months ago for the day, we took a wrong turn, even with the sat nav and had to go 10 miles the wrong way down the Autoroute so we could turn off and go back) and look like a disshelved tramp in the mornings.
