Thanks Jeff. Navman is a little limited as when I did an address search I put in Gunderath, and it found 0 of 0 addresses before I'd even tried anything else.

Weather forecast for Koln which is kind of nearby, although the Eifel area sounds a lot like Dartmoor. If you don't like thw weather, wait a minute. :D

I had trouble at first but used the post/zip code to find the towns in the locale and notice gunderath and managed to find the street from there.

I'm thinking I might sleep for this journey cos it's gonna take a long time...I'm actually getting a bit scared now :o I've never been so far away from home on my own, and Ive only ever left the country once, when I was five. I'm scared of flying, so my holidays have alreays been in England......

and in a month's time you're going twice as far again! :P :D

Yeah thanks Jase, thats really helping!

WUSS! :P :P Think how much fun it will be! I cannot wait for this weekend or the one in the middle of Sept.

I'll prob be OK once we're there, but it doesnt really help that shifty has been scaring me and now I think I'm gonna come back dead :thumbdwn: has anyone got a helmet I can borrow? might make me feel better! :o:rofl:

If I'm not doing laps as well, my helmet is available for anyone who's not got their own. Somehow I feel I'm going to get all childish and addicted and use all 15 laps in one day. :o

lol!! Well if you're not on and I am I may nick your helmet a couple of times, not that it will make much difference!

ooh, if you use all your laps in one day you can come see the castle with me when you've used them all!!! :D

If I use all my laps I'm gonna be a lazy sod and spend a day in the pool and sauna. :D

aww, please :( I wanna see the castle!!

UPDATE 15th August 2006 9:15am

Hey everyone,

this is just a quick one to remind you all to make sure you have got all your documents and all the items needed in your car for driving in Europe.

Also please take a jumper/fleece/coat/umbrella's as the weather is very changable.

One minute the sun is out the next it is raining so just be prepared.

Also don't for get your swimming outfits!!!!!

Only a few days to go now, i know alot of you are getting excited, obviously i am one of them as its such an awesome place.

But please all be aware that getting there and back in one piece is the most important part of this trip.

So all please don't think of it as a race, its not.

RESPECT the circuit, it can and will bite at any moment, i have seen it and unfortunately experienced it.

Looking forward to meeting you all in Belgium.

29 laps :D with at least 18 in the wet. Scary, but addictive.

On my first lap, there was a Jaguar XK8 buried in a barrier. It was a mess.

He "learnt" the track on the PS2 apparently it later transpired.

Question for those who know - What is the octane rating of the super unleaded at the petrol station nearest to the ring? I didny pay attention last time as I was using diesel fuel.

Have a look at the prices for recovery and repairs while you are checking out Ben Lovejoy's site. That may stop you getting carried away. :D

Dave....you wont kill me will you?.....

Nope :D

It will be the impact that kills you

At the ED station on the B256 with (a excellent model car shop) next to the snack place(that has outstanding coffee), it is Super-95 and Super Plus-98.

Thank you very much for that. Yes, the model shop is very good indeed, and a potential hazard for any wallet

And the currywurst with fries and a dollop of mayo is also nice from the snack bar :)

I already have destroyed my wallet at that shop. I have been looking at this everytime I go up.

Yup, the food is good as well, and watching the vehicles drive past is also entertaining.

That reminds me, those of you travelling in petrol powered cars, keep an eye out when you fill up in germany. Germany sells 3 grades of unleaded fuel, the usual 98 and 95, but they also do a much lower grade which is something like 92 ron or less IIRC. So check that you have the correct nozzle.

 Your experience was mentioned by a certain "Taxi" driver just the other day. thanks for the tip
