I'll leave you to do the Cente Parcs update....however if he's a union rep he'll probably have the place closed down over some petty Health & Safety issue.

So is it OK then?

Or am i going to get loads of complaints?

Please put me out of my misery...................

Alex

I understand your concern..........I used to organise many european & Ring trips and you do end up feeling responsible when things go wrong or not quite to plan.

I've even been blamed for the weather!!

I'm sure you'll be okay and that CP will be great.......even though I'm not joining you, I fully understand how much effort is involved in getting such a thing going...I tilt my hat to you.

My buddies are going tomorrow..........I'll know how good/bad by Friday and will advise. I'm very confident though that you have nothing to fret about.

Cheers Lance,

it is a headache as your already aware but ultimately i hope its worth it if some more people get to experience one of the best places for petrolheads!!!!

I am trying to get a little info pack together aswell, directions etc and a few tips from my limited knowledge of the Ring and surrounding area.

it won't be a master piece but it may help.

Alex

Are you going the E40 route via Brussels & Leige (Luik), the Spa/St Vith etc. If so this route is very simple to follow, providing people stay alert on the approach to Brussels.

It may be worth including that Leige is known as Luik locally.

I've done the Ring about 25-30 times (seperate trips), if I can help just let me know.

Good luck!!

My 3 trips last year i went via the Leige but off the E40 at Eupen and down from there.

That the only way i've been as Ben Lovejoy's site recommeded it.

Usually takes approx 4-5 hours maximum.

Would you recommend the other route as its easy to get to the Accomodation?

Thanks again.

I've been twice this year, the first time in March via the Eupen route. The road from Eupen into Germany (the bumpiest in the world) was up for miles and the diversion was extreme to say the least. It was just about passable in places, however if you have any lowered cars your likely to get sump/bodywork damage. Due to the scale of the work on this stretch of road, I'd be surprised if it's fixed by August.

In all honesty, the route I suggested is far easier and quicker as you spend more time at higher speeds due to more motorway. All you need to do is change direction near Leige, following St Vith/SPA/Verviers, then Gerolstein followed by Kelberg. The CP site is signposted from Kelberg.

Cheers Lance,

that sounds like a good idea, and if they are improving the suspension testing road then all the better.

If your route is as easy as it sounds then i'll go that way.

I gather its easy to get to the Ring from the CP.

As its open from 5pm on the Friday and i'm going to want to get a couple of laps in that evening!!!

I'm one person that falls into the "don't like bumpy/broken roads" category. :)

Undulating is OK. Would prefer super smooth though, like I remember most of the German roads were last time I was over there.

Alex

I've not been to CP, however from Kelberg the Ring is about 10mins tops and clearly signposted, bringing you in from the opposite end of Nurburg from the Ring car park. Will be able to give you a time from CP once I speak to my pals that are going this weekend.

Devon

Once off the motorway and heading to Gerolstein/Kelburg, the roads are mostly smooth and entertaining in many places.

So you would come in on the main road where the petrol station is and turn off before the station, under the bridge and follow the road next to the circuit up to the roundabout at the entrance(Not the Hotel end/GP circuit end)

So when we head to the CP we will go past the Ring anyway.

As its only 10mins drive away i'd head straight to the CP and check in and get the keys to our villas as i'm sure they like you to collect the keys before 7pm.

OK Shifty has just been scaring me, saying that we're going to die and I should write a will :( I think I might just stay at centre parcs and play in the pool...:o

Please put me out of my misery...................

Well you decided to move to Northumberland Park:P

Heil the great Bob Crow.

My mate at work may have a different experience to your friend (sods law being they are in the same party) so still put down what your mate thinks

What makes you think it will happen at the ring? You could drown in the Centre Parcs pool.

Possible, but unlikely, I'm a good swimmer and I have lifesaving qualifications, so if any of you decide to drown you'd be as well doing it near me!!

A bit of mouth to mouth action going on here then......................

looks like i won't need to bring that big bowl now!!!!

Alex

Sorry about the slow response.

Yep, you arrive on the petrol station straight........up the road a bit though, almost opposite the Dorint Hotel, you'd be best off going through Nurburg.

CP is nearer to Kelberg, not in the direction, nor the other side of the Ring.

Please note that Kelberg is approx 10mins from the Ring, I'm unsure how far CP is on from there.

If you imagine Kberg is Stansted, CP is Bish Stort and the Ring is Harlow, that's roughly where they are in relation to each other. (hope you know those areas). You'd be coming in from the direction of Dunmow.

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers Lance i know all those areas far to well!!!!

so the distances aren't to bad at all.

look forward to hearing what your friends say about the CP and the drive etc.

thanks again

Alex

Yep me too. I'm in Ongar frequently.

Lance

10 min drive sounds good to get the car nice and warn ready for some action anyway :D

I can't wait. I'm so excited, that a bit of wee keeps coming out. :o

;)

Alex & co

Just spoke to my mate, who is waiting at CP to check in, sitting in the sun drinking a cold beer. He has had a wander around the site and says that it all looks very nice and is very clean. Chalets look nice and will advise later what they are like inside.

More good news is that CP is within 10 miles from where I know it's about 10 minutes to the Ring. So, no more than a 20 minute drive to and from the track (along good roads I hasten to add).

Sorry to maybe lower the tone...but you know about the mile high club right......just wondering if there is a 'ring club :D
