i would aorry about it ! indeed consider cancelling your order! read previous !

I don't have a problem with it, its there but only very slightly noticable. If i were to go back in time i'd order it again.

Have done quite a few miles since ' the fix ' and it has been perfect 10/10

I actually enjoy driving it now,a big thankyou to:- Ashmore Green Skoda,Newbury

Folks,

I have been having fortnightly updates from Skoda UK, after reporting the problem to them the week I got my new VRS, now some 4 months ago (after a fault free 54 plate VRS), and they are still telling me that they are investigating the problem and no fix is available. How come some individuals have managed to get their cars fixed already ? I was not requested to take the car into the garage for an ECU download ... but am getting increasingly annoyed that a few people now seem to have 100% resolved issue and mine is not anywhere near being fixed ...

Call them again and let them know!

Thanks to the member giving the updates on the effectiveness of the 'fix'

Can't comment on their sales dept' date=' but the dealings I had with their servicing dept were excellent and they bent over backwards to help me. Probably not much help to you :D

As a matter of interest, will Skoda UK be being represented when you go to court as I'd imagine a spokesman saying the status of the current stutter fix would go a long way!

I would echo the comments by Chris, Winchester Motor Company have serviced our cars for the last few hundred thousand miles & the service has always been excellent, far better than we have had with any other dealer or any other brand. They obviously have their hands tied as its a manufacturers problem but your contract is legally with the dealer, not the manufacturer.

Good Luck

Update for all - I called Newbury skoda and a technician there told me they have an official part number of the EGR gasket (£1.24 + vat) and they could fit it to my car (i assume this is what fixed yours "MAC" above.) He knew of the problem and that this definitely fixes it. Also called LIghtcliffe Huddersfield who have done a trial to one car (apparently with Skoda UK approval, this is the official trial but may result in non EU emmissions as a result, indeed my dealer has said this trial car has been reverted back to original gasket!). Skoda UK are still undertaking investigations and believe it to be more with the engine management system and some modification to this. Apparently Newbury Skoda shouldnt offer the fix (probably wont after today) and indeed today i believe the part number of the gasket (one of three experimented by skoda for the problem) has been withdrawn totally by Skoda UK. Be all and end all is that Skoda accept the problem are trying to fix but havent done after 5 months knowledge. Cars that have been fixed on here will fail emmissions tests (check your warranties are still valid boys!!) and are no longer Euro IV compliant as a result, any fix has to mean the car is still Euro IV compliant, until they find a fix that keeps to this emmission law it will never become an official fix.

There you have it , sit and wait. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im selling mine im sick of it , and i would NOT recommend skoda cars to anyone, indeed my brother is a used car dealer and he wont be recommending them to anyone or buying any! Hes asked me to keep him posted. Stay away from the brand is my advice, love the car apart from this problem. Its back to VW for me or Audi. You get what you pay for!

Expect skoda to drop down the JD power customer service satisfaction results next time around!!

Upset ! :-(

apologies to Newbury Skoda guys, i believe you have had your knuckles rapped by Skoda UK as a result of my phone calls, you were only being

honest with your customers

open with your customers

trying to provide excellent customer service

doing your best to make the customer happy to the very best of your companies ability.

I commend you all for that , its the idiots at Skoda UK who are floundering with EU laws and red tape and seemingly in no rush whatsoever as: a) they have a new fabia vrs ready for release soon with the problem no doubt fixed as this engine is now "ditched". B) we boffoons have already parted with our cash for the old model (current) fabia. My advice is to anyone not to buy a post Oct 05 fabia vrs as it may have this problem. If skoda uk have dozens of unsold unwanted fabia vrs`s in graveyards nationwide then they might try harder to solve the problem!!! Get my point? Im writing to watchdog on the TV today .!!

Whats the part number do you know so I could quote to my local dealer ?

part number is 028131547B, maybe wont be able to get hold of it now though, im trying a 170 bhp remap of the engine management system but having done through skoda dealer, anyone know if this works? ie fixes the stutter.

Revo remap was a 99% stutter fix on mine. I occasionally get the faintest hint of it, but no more than that.

VW and Audi have the same issues with the same engine. Nothing to do with Skoda, infact I know that Audi and VW gave up with a fix, where as skoda seem to be going all out to fix it in whatever way they can.

I have a Fabia VRS with teh BLT engine code and love it to bits, it's the best car I have owned(suppose that might not say much ;) ) but still you are missing out big time. I get a stutter once on a while but doe snot affect my driving at all. I think it's down to each driver on how it affects your driving.

:iagree:

VW/AUDI have said this is a characteristic not a problem

chris newell41 , question , what vw and audi cars have the same engine as the fabia vrs? my dealer told me the engine in the skoda is not a "red eye" diesel like any ever fitted to an audi or vw, its completely different to any vw audi engine. Engine serial numbers are totally different. He said the vw and audi engines were all renowned for being smoothe delivery of power but not the skoda vrs! Full stop.

??

has anyone had a 170 bhp remap done that does NOT invalidate their skoda manufacturer warranty? and ideally HAS fixed the stutter or almost fixed it. Spoke to a dealer and they are not aware that this is possible. I.E you remapp, you lose the warranty from Skoda. Just looking at an 06 reg at IML cars (skoda main dealer) in Plymouth and they are selling a 170 bhp remapped car 06 reg for 12k and they say it does have full 3 years balance warranty left! Beats me !

If you remap then your warrenty is void. IML my cover the warenty themselves but if they go bust then tuff....

you could use a superchips re-map, they will then garuntee the parts affected themselves... (for 12 months...)

Hello guys!

I'm a newbie, wanting a furbie VRS.

If I'm gonna go through with it, I'll get a model year 2007.

Which of the problems in this forum can I still expect?

B'Stard

Everyone, apparently skoda are "very close" to a fix for the stutter. I am holding out i think till it happens, however as its not a safety recall dont expect a phone call from your dealer, keep badgering them , until the fix has been found, and until they have applied the successful fix to your car. Oh another common fault on fabia vrs is steering veering to the left, and rattly gear knobs when accelerating, the latter apparently has no fix yet from skoda uk! and its seriously annoying. Im trying to swap mine with a dealer for an 05 reg car , and mine is 06 reg, where is the sense in that ?

I have recently written a letter formally rejecting the vehicle under the grounds that it has a fault that cannot be fixed. It was only then that I was told there was a mod available at is being fixed next friday.

The gear lever rattle is a knightmare but to my knowledge clears itself after a couple of thousand miles. It only did it from new, as did a mates I know with the identical car.

Seems for every fault my car has been in for, the dearlership will tell any made up story to say its been fixed. Just hope friday's visit isn't the same.

Took mine in yesterday for the stutter and a few minor niggles. Dealer admitted there was a problem and had a form to fill regarding ECU codes, rom revision ETC. Nothing he could do till Skoda UK come up with a legitamate fix. Got the impression this was a major headache for the dealer and he wanted a fix as bad as me. So just sit tight for now.

Mine stutters as well. Had it for 3 weeks now, i guess i had better say something now to get in line for a fix. Also the rear seats are rinckly.

My rear seats are wrinkly too

Have had teh vrs furby just 5 weeks and i give up with it, its gone, to a dealer in part ex for another brand, goodbye all and good luck getting the stutter sorted
