RE: 2006 vrS OWNERS STUTTER - SKODA UK FIX

Featured Replies

Can't comment on their sales dept, but the dealings I had with their servicing dept were excellent and they bent over backwards to help me. Probably not much help to you :D

As a matter of interest, will Skoda UK be being represented when you go to court as I'd imagine a spokesman saying the status of the current stutter fix would go a long way!

Recieved the following in a letter from Winchester Motor Company today:-

"I wish to inform you that Skoda UK has provided us with a remedy to the slight hesitation you are experiencing with your Skoda VRS.

We have received the new part from Skoda UK and we would like to book a mutually convenient time so that we can fit this part to your vehicle."

I called Skoda UK today and spoke to Jenny who said there is definitely no official Skoda UK fix for this problem' date=' they are working on it and have tested a number of options, but definitely no fix as yet.

No idea what to make of this![/quote']

I wrote back to the dealer asking a few questions and received this reply:-

" The 'fix' is a smaller diameter gasket in between the EGR valve and the exhaust manifold. There are no detrimental effects to the three cars that have been fitted with the gasket so far and I am pleased to say that the drivers are pleased with the results. On the 'fixed' cars I can also say that the emissions warning lights do not come on meaning that the fix is within the euro emissions parameters."

Any comments?

I liked the salesman, but found the service guys useless; just the way it goes I guess!

Skoda UK are not involved in the court action, but I do have a letter from them dated 7th July stating the following:-

"I can confirm that the factory has been made aware of some reports concerning your Fabia's engine, where a "flat spot" is being experienced at certain revolutions.

I can advise that the factory is addressing this characteristic and will advise us further once their investigations have been concluded.

I can assure you that as soon as we have received a response, we will be advising our retailer network."

If the stutter goes and you don't get the CEL light then what more can anyone ask for?...

Well, if the fix works, there's no side effects and he can get it in writing off SUK that it won't effect the warrenty then i'd go for it! ;)

Interesting that this is being tested by Skoda now - this fix was released by VW at least 9 months ago as it was carried out on my passat last autumn.

The good news is that the stutter was much improved in my case. The bad news is that it was not fixed. I drove around for a week or so thinking it was cured but then started to experience the stutter again.

Disconnecting the EGR was the only thing that cured mine.

I take it my local Skoda dealer would refuse to turn the EGR right down using their Diagnostic equipment, although i have never asked i am not hopefull.

Just get someon with VAG-COM to do it. ;)

I suspect not as I believe turning the EGR down will result in higher temperatures in the cylinder and they won't want to be held responsible for anything that breaks as a result of that.....

Shirley cylinder temps would reduce with the reduction in hot air coming in?? Also doesn't the EGR only work at low revs i.e round about where the stutter is so under normal driving the EGR isn't on constant??;)

My vRS was in at the dealers today for its 1st lube service....yup 10k miles since 3rd April :(

Asked the service people what was happening with the stutter issue...was told he believed that some factory personnel were due in the uk this week.

This is my last posting as i do not have a Skoda anymore and owners forums are for owners!

I have successfully rejected my car, the money is in the bank (full refund) and the furby is no more!

Kerry i have sent you a PM, i will send you my letter which says everything you need to legally say.

Don't stand for faulty goods, if they are not older than 6 months you can reject them.

Bye everyone.

Hi All.had a call from Customer Svs today, stating a few vehicles' are with Dealers who are carrying out a mod. I will receive a call next week with an update and with a view to the work being c/o

Hi All

Parts are now available for the "intermediate fix" of the 06 BLT engine stuttering, according to Skoda Customer Services.

As some of us suspected (though not me) it is a modified gasket for the EGR valve to the exhaust.

Viewers of earlier posts will know my car was booked in with Lightcliffe at Huddesfield for 2/8/2006 and then the appointment was retracted.

The work will, all things being equal, go ahead on 25/8/2006. However, it was stressed to me that this IS NOT THE OFFICIAL FIX.

But if it stops it stuttering what more fixes can they bring out?
