Can anyone definitively identify these

Recommended Posts

Agree looks like a mouse as tail is short for Rattus Rattus or Rattus Norvegicus.

It looks more like a Bank Vole, short tail, small ears, rounded nose.

My cat has killed a couple of dozen young rats, just recently.

My garden looks like pet cemetry!

This is a young rat, note the long tail.

I did say Bank Vole not Water Vole which is about the size of my fist.

It looks a bit like a field vole to me. I don't think it's something like a wood mouse as they have biggish ears and long back legs (they can jump enormous heights....as I discovered whilst showing one to my mum in her kitchen., it didn't go down well)

Although it might be a bank vole as I can see its ears and field voles have quite hairy ears I think. Definitely not a rat, unless it's been to "Cute School".

Managed to get a clearer shot this evening - Google image search reckons it's a bank vole?

Does that mean red or white wine as an accompaniment...?

Good capture! Imagine this little furry would be super hard to catch still, or even be close enough for the shot :) 10/10 on the cuteness scale

Cheers - the light was fading, so needed a little help from the flash, which strangely enough didn't disturb it!
