Software failure not so Superb

Featured Replies

I’ve had mine since the end of December. Car was built with the updated software. No major issues. There is an active service campaign to replace the cruise control stalk as it caused issues with many cars. Mines booked in to have it fixed although it’s not been an issue for me.

The auto brakes are frustrating. I’ve learnt to manoeuvre very slowly as that seems to stop it triggering. Not had it go off driving at speed yet.

Hi Cedron, what’s the issue with the cruise control you’re talking about? I use mine a lot particularly in France. Never any problem with it. John

  • 2 weeks later...

Further to my post on 14/06 while I was in France this last week my Cruise control and EBA stopped working. Have been to dealers and they say there is a factory recall for this. Booked in for next week.

Can anyone remember th post about using a Mk3 Superb dipstick in the Mk4 which it is not supplied with. Just a blanking plug on the Mk4 1.5 petrol engine.

Not a Recall or FACTORY RECALL if the Registered Keeper was not told there was a Recall.

So just a TPI and people might get told if at a Dealership, if they use them, like because having an issue.

So a Skoda Secret Service, on a need to know basis, Workshop campaign. 'Recall action' Kidollogy.

You can always look at your own past posts, or others can or a simple search works.

Octo, earlier this year you posted on replacing th blanking plug in th eMk4 1.5 engine with th dipstick from the Mk3 engine. I have spoken to my dealer who said he can order it on the part number. Do you have the part number for it

Dealer has the part number, no idea why he didn't check in the system and asked you to provide it.

Man I spoke to wanted the PIN or reg no of the car to look up the relevant part for it. I will try again with a different man.

As someone about to buy an Ex Demonstrator Superb L&K with 7000mile on the clock I wanted to say thanks to everyone who have taken the time to post on this forum, it has been very useful - if a little worrying.

I took the car for a short test drive with all the assist functions seemingly working fine... at least on warning light. So far so good.

I don't know the month of manufacture but it was registered in Nov 24 and running Sw version 2460. My take away so far from reading various posts is that the Infotainment version does not affect the assistance issues however the screen blanking out Apple CarPlay when using climate controls seems to be resolved by later infotainment Sw versions. Having questioned the dealership on the know Sw issues they say there are no Sw updates for this vehicle. I have limited understanding of these matters and hope someone could help me understand the following:

  • why would Skoda not allow all Mk4 infotainment systems to be updated with the latest Sw if newer versions bring bug fixes / improvements given there should be no major hardware differences given how new the model is.?

  • I noted in a post ChatGPT was integrated with Laura for some users which was not the case in the vehicle I test drove on Saturday, the sales rep had no knowledge of ChatGPT integration. Whilst not a major issue for me in itself it is just an indication that the Sw is not up-to-date.?

  • From reading posts the Sw update addressing the assistance features is clearly a known issue for Skoda , why would this not be applied to all MK4 Superbs with the dealer again stating there is no SW update for this vehicle?

Sorry for my naivety hence the need to ask these questions, on the face of it the Superb is a great car with excellent reviews however there are clearly some issues which I don't want to drive off the forecourt with so any advice would be appreciated.

I would be interested to hear anyones experience of the HUD display too, this car comes with it but I found the speed limit sign small and hard to read, even with my glasses on! No such problem in previous BMW with HUD which was very clear.

Any info gratefully received, thanks.

If you have version 2460, it means your car was manufactured no later than August 2024, because starting around September, version 2565 started to appear.

I’m in the same situation, my car also has version 2460, and my dealer told me that there is currently no available update for the infotainment system.

Regarding the HUD, it’s likely just a settings issue. Check the menu for:

  • HUD position — it might be set too high or too low, so it’s out of your line of sight.

  • Brightness — if it’s too low, you might barely see it during the day.

Hi Rigor,

Thanks for your reply.

I guess my question is why would Skoda not allow infotainment systems with older SW to be updated to newer software I given the hardware should be either identical or very similar? It doesn’t make sense to me but I appreciate I have a lack of knowledge!

So you the CarPlay black screen issue when using climate controls etc

Thanks for your comments on the HUD

👍

Honestly, I’m not exactly sure why Skoda is taking so long with these updates. Considering the hardware is theoretically the same or very similar, it should be technically possible. It probably comes down to stability, internal validation, or other priorities but at some point, they really should release an update for the older software versions.

As for the CarPlay issue, yes, I’m experiencing the same. Sometimes I get a black screen in CarPlay when opening the climate control settings, and other times, when switching to the camera view, the screen stays black and doesn’t come back.

Other than that, everything works fine, but this issue pops up from time to time and can be quite annoying. Hopefully they’ll fix it in a future update.

My car has software 2460, I picked it up in July. It had the terrible software faults, I picked it up on Friday, returned it on Monday, it took 5 months to sort it out. There were 9 major software faults that had to have the software completely rewritten. My theory, no proof, is Skoda knew the faults, they were too major to ignore, but had the British Leyland attitude of sell the car and sort them out after.

That saying the do seem to be sorted, I have had the car back for 8 months and all seems OK.

My main niggles now is the interior lights have a mind of their own. They sometimes come on by them, I turn them off and they come back on. On, off, on off until they decide to work or the system crashes

Hopefully the dealer will sort it at next week's service

I have currently:

Hardware H10

Software 2630

Display unit/control panel hardware H42

Display unit/control panel software 4047

No issues so far.

Android auto rarely does not connect to the phone at the begining but possible issues with AA and various phone manufacturers is typical so cant really point the blame towards the phone or the car.

Front or rear incoming vehicle sensors are sensitive but it happend so far only twice for ~8000km, once for rear and two weeks ago for the front.

AC or driving profile pop up overlay while changing setting in Android Auto or Carplay work flawlessly.

Hi Celli,

Thanks for you reply.

There are Red flags here for me now.

It isn’t acceptable but I kind of get there being bugs when cars are first released, what I don’t get is why they are not updating all cars with 2460 to 2630. The only reason to invert money in software updates is to fix bugs…..

So why leave customers on 2460 with those bugs? I acknowledge the difference between the assistive tech bugs and the lesser 2460 infotainment bugs.

This wouldn’t be acceptable if you were buying something for £500, when the price tags is very much more it is ludicrous. Sorry getting a bit ranty and haven’t even bought the car yet. Feel sorry for you guys who have been through the mill with this.

I suspect the issue is VAG don't want to spend the money. Short term thinking, they had to provide me with a hire car for 5 months snd gave me compensation

VAG was never good with software so don't expect any miracles. MIB 3.5 was perfect example how to make your life miserable for the entire duration it was used in their cars and they fixed it by pretty much abandoning it and moving to new MIB4.

Anyway, assuming they are planning to fix the software in Superb4 from 2024, they are probably trying to release one big service update that will be pushed to the dealers and this takes a lot of time, testing, approvals and distribution. Probably not a simple of the air partial update.

Not sure if 2024 models had also H10 hardware?

Hi Jack,

Thanks for your reply. I certainly hope that is the case for everyone on 2460.

All the best

It's been a while, but here I am - I got an annoying lane-assist/SOS error loop again.
"Fortunately," I was just a few kilometers away from the dealer, so they could read the errors immediately (at this point, I have the latest software installed).
I don't believe that they (Škoda) will fix anything, and it looks like it's the current "standard" to sell cars with crappy software. (not blaming Škoda, but VAG in general).
Only good thing is that it's been almost half year since last dealer visit 😁

Hello all,

(first post here)

Had mine since September 2024, multiple front assist issues. 3 weeks with dealership in January to debug, will check SW versions later, but as of July 2025 still many issues:

The usual ADAS ones:

  • Side assist unavailable

  • Lane assist unavailable

  • Front assist unavailable

  • Travel assist unavailable

  • Protective occupant unavailable

New one this week:

  • e-Sound fault: Please drive more carefully. (Assuming the car was silent to pedestrians ...)

Went away with a couple of restarts.

The ADAS ones are regular, like once every two weeks. Vehicle restart may or may not clear, I am wondering if it's not an actual harness issue to the front radar of front camera.

Also, one thing that drives me nuts is the Front Collision Warning ALL THE FREAKING TIME ... and the emergency braking while reversing because of the light pole in my street, even at low speed. My 2020 Karoq was definitly not so picky.

Another thing: There seems to be an e-drive clutch transition issue at low speed upon first startup. Noisy and harsh "klang" like a clutch drop would do, with a torque jerk. Anyone else experiencing this? Happens usually within 100 m after first driving session.

And finally, especially since the OTA update last week, the infotainment loses all it's tile configuration, loses all my radio memory settings, and Laura self-reactivates. 5 times in past 2 weeks...

Verdict at almost 1 year: Love the car, the handling, the comfort, the silence, the e-drive. HATE the SW bugs.

(will edit the post later with SW versions)

Those 5 ADAS issues you list I also had when my cruise control failed. The dealer replaced the cruise control stalk and updated the software in June this year and all problems fixed. In addition I have the map view in front of driver which had been promised since I bought the car, December 2024, and an extra icon on the main screen to view the energy flow.

Hope tou get as lucky as I have been.

Good to know, I am supposed to drop by the dealership this summer, will bring this up. I am somewhat wondering whether cold/humidity has an impact on the bug. Hence my worry about a cabling issue towards an under-hood sensor (front radar)...

I had these faults when I picked the car up a year ago. I returned it, picked up a hire car which Skoda paid for. Took 5 months for Skoda to rewrite the software. Check you have the updated software, it is to do with the camera.

My problem now is the interior light has a mind of it's own coming and off when it wants. No solution yet.

Any of you heard any good news regarding this update? The car is more than a year old and still having these chlidish bugs around is ****ing me off :(
