Software failure not so Superb

Thanks all, I think I’m going to try and reject it as I’m within the first 30 days so hoping it might be more straightforward (I’m sure it won’t be)

It’s frustrating as I like the car and there aren’t many options in this bracket offering the same value.

  • Hello from Latvia! I also bought a Škoda Superb L&K 2.0TSI 4x4 (delivered in May 2024). Everything was fine until October 2024 (I drove around 5000 km at that point). I got 7 warnings related to

  • My wife's Superb was updated a week ago on 2nd December and there have been no problems since. She drove 320 miles at the weekend and all was well.   She's finally starting to enjoy the car

  • I got my car back yesterday,  33 miles on, no problems.  I know that is not far, but went wrong after 10 miles when I got it . So, let's hope,  fingers crossed!

Here's the info I've been relying on. As your within 30 days your rejection should be much easier. I agree it's hard to find something similar.

That was the issues for use since we always used cars from VAG as company cars, and last year we tried to switch but really there was nothing much better on the market for our needs.

We drive only VW cars, mostly Passats and we are used to bugs with software and we don't even report them to VW service.

Unless it's a critical fault like not working radar with ACC or parking sensor.

Cars are leased and always returned to VW after 3 year's so we don't really care and having a car stuck in service for 1-2 months is a total waste of time.

From my side I have not had any warning messages (touch wood) since the one time since the update (which all cleared within a few minutes).

Maybe I'm lucky, as I only have seen this error a few times, and before the car was called in, I just assumed it was the camera sensor being dirty (as I have experionced the same on previous cars). Yellow warnings (that eventually clears itself) I'd like to think is something you have to accept with modern car these days.  Is anyone experiencing anything more than yellow warnings?

The Superb's assistance systems is rather sophisticated.  The Travel Assistant Plus works impressively well, although would take a while before I fully trust it.  What I have learned is that I have to turn it off, unless I really want it on as the car wants to place the car a little different to how I would want to do it.

And it has stopped the car a couple of times waiting in roundabouts.  It really does not like you rolling slowly towards a roundabout when cars are coming...And oh my it STOPS.

Unfortunately I have the warnings, but also cannot enable any of the assistance systems - ACC, Speed Limit, assistance etc. I get a yellow warning and a message when trying to enable along the lines of ‘functionality not available’

I see... Now that is a little more of an issue.

Yes when I have the assist warnings I also lose ACC etc which is annoying as it’s always at a time I could do with it.

My update in the beginning of December seems to have sorted out the problems.  The car is permanently online,  Skoda have a server in Germany, the cars talk t that. There are updates on line but this update is very large affecting various safety systems and has to be done at the dealers.

I have had no problems with doors.

Mysoftware version is 2460 it was one of the the first cars apparently, the software update doesn't seem to alter the software version number

Hope that helps

I also just got this update from our local dealer. My problems were: assistance failures, tire pressure failure, 12V low alerts. I can live with that but suddenly car "bricked" after two days of not operating. I needed a booster to switch in on. My dealer said that update need to be ready back in 2024 December. So I went to service and did update. What is interesting that in my case, the car's power steering has become more sensitive, requiring less force to turn the wheel (this is especially noticeable when stationary). I still don't know if it is due to new software or service did some change :)

I seem to have had the December update without any message that I noted.  I now have ChatGPT attached to Laura and I can ask her virtually anything now. Using Laura now needs to be more precise, I recently wanted navigating to a certain village and she replied with a wealth of information and history of that village but without directing me to it. Screen shot of my system details.

HI, is this version supposed to fix the assist errors? As I had them for most of my journeys today, maybe for only the second time and it's been months since I last had them. My car is running these versions. Never saw an update message.

The error was front sensor obscured or words to that effect. 5 errors.

Assistance problems is fixed by Škoda service partner system update. This is not an update that customer can do themselves :)

I suggest you to visit a service center while a car is usable because in my case it was bricked after 2 days of not operating (the update service partner said should solve assistance failures, tire pressure indication and not starting engine )

If the error is 'front sensor obscured', it was probably a genuine error: I've had it the past weeks a few times when it has been cold and there is frost blocking the sensor windows. For me, the error went away when I cleaned the sensor area at the top of the windscreen and on the front grille (radar box cover/grille camera). Hope it helps.

(Outside these genuine error messages, I have not had the assist errors in the last ~3 months - software appears stable since my dealer did an update mid December. The update did not change the software version though - same as others are reporting. I am on 'still' on 2565).

Thanks, that version is still higher than mine, which is 2460. Is there a list of what the higher version fixes / updates and if the issue I have persists after cleaning, what should I be asking the dealer to update?

No, as far as I know this is all quite obscure. Going back over posts on this forum, it appears that the dealer software updates don't change the software version you see on your display. That software version seems 'locked' to the car and related to the production date, is my guess.

Having said this, I was getting all the assist errors just after the car was delivered by the dealer (early December). They then did a reset -not sure what that was- and since then no errors. So the reset seems to have done the job.

I think i may have found the problem, condensation under the glass near the sensor... will need to check if this remains

Yes, then it is likely a 'true' error.

The “reset” apparently is removing a fuse, waiting and reinserting it. My dealer called it a temporary fix.

Yes, in my case the reset process was 'disconnect the battery, wait 20 mins, reconnect the battery' :-)

Just a quick update from me.
After the car's software update from the dealer, I no longer had issues with 5+ errors appearing on the dashboard. However...
A few times, the car got stuck in an error loop—'Emergency Assist not available (SOS),' followed by 'Lane Assist not available.' The errors would clear out after 30-60 seconds but then reappear again, continuing for the entire trip. (as mentioned in post above - my case is not related to camera condensation issues, I reported this case with video to delear)
Also a few times 360* camera connection was not available (front camera not available and side cameras not available).. so.. even though I enjoy this car.. these bugs are quite annoying :)
IMHO - software is still quite shi**y. :) and there is nothing we can do.

Hello, I am also planning to buy the new L&K 2025 model this week. Has anyone recently purchased it and experienced any issues? After the update, has anyone encountered a collision prevention error? Did the vehicle stop while driving?

I purchased a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately all driver assist functions aren’t available. According to my local garage there isn’t a software update available to fix the issues. I’ve started the rejection process.

So another update. My car had been into my local dealer since October. Three attempts at resolving the assist errors. I then had to arrange for it to go into the retailing dealer 35 miles away to give them an opportunity to try and resolve the issue before rejecting the car. They had it just short of three weeks. The advice they had from Skoda was to take apart each assist component and reinstall and recalibrate. Had the car back two days and all the errors are back. Now going to have to reject the car.

The car required an software update, based on the message displayed on the media. I enable it. So good so far.

I drove around 120 kilometres. Put it on the parking spot, and after 6 hours surprise. Line assistance and SOS module not available. check the user guide.

Multiple times, i tried to switch off and switch on the engine, lo luck. Drove another 120 kilometres with these warnings on the odo screen.
On the next day, these messages were disappeared. No warnings, nothing. Like they were never before.

Welcome to modern VAG cars. Unless you want and have option to return the car, you will have to live with it.

We stopped reporting sos and infotainment issues to the service because it was a waste of time unless real crucial feature was missing or malfunctioning.
