"Travel Mode" option disappeared from headlight settings

Featured Replies

I previously had the "Travel Mode" option under my headlight settings, which allowed me to switch between left-hand and right-hand traffic. While I never tested this functionality, I assumed it worked since the option was present.

Recently, I encountered an unrelated issue with the infotainment system—I couldn’t register a new user. To resolve this, the Skoda garage reprogrammed the control unit.

However, now some time later I’ve noticed that the "Travel Mode" option is missing from my headlight settings.

Is this a known issue? How can I verify whether my car is supposed to have the "Travel Mode" feature, or if its presence earlier was a bug?

Any thoughts from the community would be greatly appreciated!

In case it helps, these are the style of headlights I have:

That’s the style of headlight I have on mine; no means of adjusting the left/right hand drive setting for the headlights - only range (up and down).

When I first got the car (nigh on four years ago) I fiddled with the Travel Option in the menus; made no difference. Since then I haven’t looked for that setting so don’t know if it’s there or not.

I believe it was moved to automatic in later software versions. So if dealership upgraded software it's prob gone to version where it should use GPS? To identify where you are and adjust

Interesting, so potentially it could have just been a bug in the first place that I could see that setting.

Would be good to hear if anyone else says the same.

That doesn't seem to be the case for me. I'm in Europe now and the headlight beam still looks the same as back in the UK.

What Software version you on. I believe it was buggy in the earlier ones after they removed manual option. If on 1941 or later it should be working.

I'm on 1985 and still have the manual option and it works fine.

Do you have the Matrix headlights?

Isn’t this a feature that that only comes with the enhanced light package - matrix headlights?  I have standard LED headlights and don’t have this functionality

yes

So I think the Travel Mode applies only to Matrix headlights not the standard LEDs, for which Eurolights et al sell deflectors with fitting guides.

From experience, the Eurolights version is very good - but finding the correct fitting position is critical. Out of five trips I only managed a perfect position for them twice. First attempt looked ok but basically had no effect, moving them about 5mm and they were fine. But moving them kills the adhesive, both flew off on the autoroute 🙄

Thanks for the replies all. It's sounding like it was just a bug that I could originally see the Travel Mode option as I just have the standard LEDs.

It also looks like I'm not the only one as SteveTheElder also has (had?) that option with standard LEDs.

I'm on version 1941.

When I purchased my (used) Octavia the previous owner was still logged on as primary user. As I hadn't yet figured out how to alter that I browsed through all or at least most of the settings in the infotainment system, just to try and get a feel of it.

Then, a day or two later, I discovered how to make myself primary user and so I deleted the current profile and made one for myself. Now I have no proof, as I can't actually remember what went missing, but I would swear that once I'd became primary user a number of the options for the settings disappeared. Whether they were purchased options that were only registered to the previous owner's account or not, I don't know...

But just wondering if something similar could have possibly happened here?
