Battery Charger/Condition Recommendations

Featured Replies

Hi All,

At the moment my Octavia is getting very little use, and the journeys it is being used on are pretty short. As a result today when I used the car I got a warning about the 12V battery being low. For the next few months that usage pattern isn't going to change.

I'm thinking I need to get a charger/conditioner on it. Has anyone got any recommendations for a suitable device? Looking on-line the CTEK CT5 and Noco Genius5UK both seem to get consistently good reviews. Would appreciate any first hand experience of chargers/conditioners for the Octavia.

Many Thanks...

CTEK have been my choice for the past 20 years. One died after six years or so but my batteries have been kept in good shape (or maybe I got lucky). Anything approaching 12V on a quick and dirty measure gets the top-up. Can't comment on the NOCO one.

I don’t use my 2021 Octavia much either and use a CTEK - 5 which does a great job charging the battery.
When my car lies still for about a week I get the Auto Handbrake error message.  Charge the battery and all is good!

@OctaSkye - Thanks for this.... do you use the M6 Eyelet connectors or just the clamps when connecting the charger?

James,

My wife has a car that sits for long periods too so I just use the clips.  If we only had the one car I would be using the Eyelet connectors.  Once they have been fitted, it’s a simple case of joining the connectors each time you use it. 👍

+1 for Noco

they're great, mine was circa £100 and works flawlessly about 3 years later
