I got 1989 sw via OTA 2 days ago. Android Auto worked perfectly for the last 4 years with my Xiaomi 11t pro, and now it's nightmare. It disconnects continuosly, even with wire, not just wireless. I've tried verything to solve it but nothing worked.

I"ll change my phone or sell the car 😂

Hi,

I got my 1989 software update OTA.

Just popped up while I was driving to Birmingham Airport last night.

Doesn’t appear to be that much different.

Not sure if you could do this on previous versions but I can re-arrange the icons on the infotainment system screen.

Again, not sure if this is a new feature or not ?

Can you check if your CarPlay or Android Auto covers the entire screen? For me, there’s a bezel strip at the top, and its irritating. I want a bigger screen, not a smaller one 😠

Is this full screen CarPlay something new with 1989? I’m on 1985 and my CarPlay has a massive border on all four sides of the CarPlay screen.

Just got my 1989 update as OTA in Finland, there seems to be lot of optimisation and stability improvements in patch notes.

Hello everyone,

Do you know how to make sure that the MIB is compatible with OTA updates?

The Skoda website says yes when I enter my car's serial number, and I receive updates for the maps and apps installed on the car (pay to park & fuel, traffication). The Skoda dealer told me it wasn't compatible when I took the car in for its annual service on Monday.

I saved the update on a USB stick just in case, but I haven't installed it yet. I'm waiting to see if it will be pushed to my Octavia sooner or later.

My car was manufactured on 25.02.2020.

Is the Home Button issue happening to all/most/few people?

Just had the message start coming up each day saying I have the update available to download to my car but I’ve cancelled each day so far.

Mine updated to 1989 OTA this morning. Complete mess. System won't leave Android Auto, all buttons freeze including climate hard button. Reboot and it does it again. Worked perfectly with 1985. Nightmare. I really hate this car now, I new I should have bought a Corolla estate.

Holy cow, the update doesn't seem to be working that well if you believe the feedback on skodacommunity.de!

That is correct. Update make Problems by some Users

For some or most, as it seems when reading?

Hello.

I came to this forum to ask if anyone have the same software version to seat cupra,

MOI3_EU_SE_R9890L MU1989.7z

I know is not the correct place to ask, and sorry for that, update files four cupra are very difficult to find. Thanks

To those experiencing the home button issues, did you update via usb? Or receive 1989 OTA? @Djadjo78 @Kgarv

OTA update installed yesterday to 1989. Made the mib screen hang and constantly reboot. Factory reset solved the issues! There is just enough time to press the settings button swipe right, then settings logo then scroll down and hit factory rest before it freezes again. Was thinking it was going to have a trip to Škoda to fix it. Now just need to figure out how to complete the registration that failed to get Škoda connect working again.

I found out today that 1989 has brought back the issue that makes ACC think the car is in Europe so it refuses to overtake on UK motorways. Unbelievable.

Ota. Makes it worse. Skoda have messed up a car that was finally working ok with 1985.

I'm not going to do a factory reset. Car is booked in next week to see whether dealer can get windscreen washer to work. They can look at it then.

Skoda broke it, they can fix it.

Btw, mine seemed ok the day after the OTA update, but it started freezing again today.

For anyone thinking about installing it - don't!

I read on the German forum that some seem to think it could be the OTA update which is causing the issues, but it's unconfirmed. Scary to think an OTA update can screw up your car. I get them now and again with having an active traffication sub, but I'll be extra vigilant with what I agree to download / install in future.

It is not the first time. Back on 1896 there was an OTA coming, which was not even SW version update but something minor, which caused infotainment to reboot all the time.

I wonder if Skoda have pulled the OTA as it started downloading 3 days ago but has disappeared now without installing. Another mess. What testing do the Cariad idiots do?

After udpating to 1989, I cant update to 25.8, stuck on 25.6 (via USB). Previous updates worked fine.

Do you think I need to wait for 26.1, for skoda to make maps compatible with 1989, because 25.8 was released before 1989?

Btw update 1989 works as expected with USB update, I didnt wait for OTA.

Thanks.

Is there a way to stop it asking me if I want to install the 1989 update every time I start the car?

Really not wanting to install 1989 at present and having to press cancel every time I get in the car is a pain.

I've a 2022 mk4 and mine did the ota update to 1989 from 1985 at the weekend.

I'd not really had any issues with 1985, but now I notice when I bring the car to a standstill, even if the engine is still running the infotainment goes to the screen with the clock (just like before you turn the ignition on).

Its not a reboot, but more like it goes into standby. Anyone else experienced that?

If I could turn back time I'd have just stuck with my 25 year old car, because this is bullsh*t.
