British Leyland Mini 1.0l, best fun i ever had till I got the Skoda and the 205 GTi. Had two accidents in it, multi coloured panels, swimming pool in the passenger footwell everytime it rained..........great.

My Mother's Hillman Imp

MG Metro Turbo....proper boy racer stylee!!! Blacked out windows and illuminous green stripes down the sides (the car was black)!

Was a right old tart though...had three engines, one of which was bored out and had powermax pistons in that cost £70 each about ten years ago. That engine was peachy...but I screamed it to death when running it in and shot a piston out through the gear box!!!!:(

Ford Escort XR3i Mk4 in Rosso red bought juust before my 19th Birthday (prior to that a Ford Fiesta 1.1 pop plus)

(the XR3i was only 3years old and was quite cool at the time.......Honest)

Bought and paid for by me (and my own insurance which was quite a feat as it cost me muchos

At eighteen I was running around in a Triumph Dolomite sprint, it had been my Uncle's till he melted the head and sold it to me as a non runner. I got a second hand head for it, and got it running again I had great fun for about 6 weeks and then melted the head myself.

By this time I had found a lot out about the wonderful design, but manufactured from chocolate heads and cooling systems on these cars, so drastic measures were taken.

First launch Engine and box in a skip, then fit 1500TC engine and box, what a job that was, eventually welded in a couple of Ford engine mounts to the subframe to fit the Triumph stuff to , result!, a mite slower perhaps, but a hell of a lot more reliable ( and financially friendly).:D

FIAT uno 0.8l wow it was like a go kart on steroids and ****e handling..... blew a headgasket after friend thought it was a good idea to go over 80mph :(

My first car was a Triumph 1500TC (Twin Carb:thumbup: )

It was the early version of the Dolomite.

Then it was a Mini, surely everyone has (should have) owned a mini.

Then it was the first of two Sunbeam Alpines.

Rebuilt the engine, Holbay head (ported by my good self), Hepolite pistons, High lift cam, S/S 4 branch B/B exhaust. It gave quite a few modern cars a good run for their money.

Then to work and the 'family' cars kicked in.

MG Metro Turbo

Same here.

CDX 50Y was the reg, in the two tone Orangey/Red and black along the bottom.

Had the little LED boost gauge inside the dash cluster ;)

205 GTi 1.9 in '91

i could have had my brother's ...

triumph acclaim at 17

but i failed my driving test, ran out of money

& didnt get behind the wheel again 'til i was 27!

At 18, I was driving an M (306 CCD) reg Nissan Micra Wave powered by a 1.0l-16v lump. Lovely car in metallic blue with such luxuries as metallic paint, tinted glass, radio/cassette player, sunroof, rear wiper and central locking

Who's is that? And do you really have a Roomster already??

The Fabia WRC was driven by Darren Gass, normally seen driving this Fiesta on the BRC/ Irish championship rounds

The Fabia is usually driven by his father.

And no, Haven't got a Roomster, just haven't figured out how to change my profile, I got a Fabia VRS.

Incidentally, at 18 I was a RWD hooligan in a Talbot Sunbeam

I had a Mk1 Astra at 18, it had fallen to pieces after 6 months and got a Nova  instead.

at 18 i had a fiat cinq sporting and then a mk4 ibiza 1.2

I drove a 1.0 Saxo that I got for my 18th.

Yamaha RD350LC.

Passed car test when I was 20. (1988) Driving car number 26, now!

Loving some of the answers - funny enough both that have caught my imagination so far are from the defunct Rootes group. Always fancied an Imp, and had a mate in the Westlands machine shop who had a Holbay Hunter - a good sleeper in its time

My Fabia vRS :thumbup::D

A Fiesta Zetec-S, And the Fabia vRS! Just turned 19 :D

VW Passat B5 1.8 20v. Not quick, although seemed it at the time. Too thirsty though! The car is still in the family and going strong at 90k miles. :)

VW Golf Mk2 1.3L of pure german power;)

Still sitting in the garage gathering dust, just needs a new cylinder head and she'd be fit for the road.

ahhh, how I miss that lack of power steering :D

An aged Hillman Imp in grasshopper green. One of the first cars to have synchro-mesh on first gear...

It had a nasty manual choke and took some real heel/toe magic to keep it going on a winter morning.

Let me down more often than not and got through water pumps faster than the 4 star I had to feed it on.

But I loved it dearly.

My car was Nissan Sunny -87. Fifth gear was broken and there was rust everywhere...

 a 1975 austin allegro. :D not a great car. but roll real well.
