Official 60 in 6.88 seconds but still...

Featured Replies

one thing that I don't get - a 1315kg vehicle with 240 bhp should yield much faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile shouldn't it? I plugged the numbers into an ET calculator and got far better figures estimated (ET 14.168)

Is it because it's a diesel or the tyres/traction or what?

*Ahem*

It is possible as i have done a 14.0 @ 99.7mph ;) (still with all the interior in it too and no diff)

Its just down to how you launch really, the terminal speed will all wase be down on the diesels because they dont rev out as well as petrols, but the 60 foot times are amazing because of the torque, 1.996 to 60 foot :D

Looking for a 13 now i have got wider tyres, and i might strip it out too

Indeed. That's why I'm still with the same insurer. Can change anything but the engine CC, and I'm still running an 1896cc TDI motor. Sure I pay a premium to have this policy but as it happens it wouldn't matter if it were a 100bhp engine in it, or a 250bhp engine in it. I pay the premium of having that policy and I'm happy. Peace of mind motoring - and I've even tested the claims procedure once, successfully.

Airbags are deactivated for my own risk only. It's also easier to repair IF I happen to be unfortunate enough to have a bad accident. This is my decision and is not based on any kind of proper logic. (my own crazy logic :D)

The car is never going to be sold on. Why the hell would I get rid of a 250bhp car that can do 600+ miles on a tank of fuel? Plus it owes me plenty back which it will give me over the next few years.

Not much more to say. I don't mind if Welshy wishes to PM me his concerns and I'll clarify my stance and opinions. :) But as soon as anyone implies I'm driving around illegally (i.e. uninsured) I think that's below the belt without any facts.

i havn't been on here that long but have seen a lot of your posts and follow the evolution of your car with great intrest, and i don't think it will ever start paying you back as you will allways take it further, for the greater good imho. The 4x4 comments are interesting tho i wonder.........:thumbup:

Well, back on topic. :D Coming toward the end of this tank of fuel now. Got about 90 miles to it actually being empty, and I'm very close to passing 500 miles on the range so far.

Weird thing is I've not had the 65mpg+ readouts for a while now. It did mid 40s driving up to Dartmoor yesterday and mid 50s on my commute to work this morning. It's almost as if a switch has been flicked which has lost me a load of economy. Probably should do a scan tonight to check for faults, but the car is running perfectly.
