Technically if i stick to the speed limit ill get 60mpg :D

Has anyone got any ideas where I can pull over and sleep for about an hour just before the ferry at Dover??? I will be driving along the M20 A20

Just sleep on the boat will. After all its a 2hr crossing;) .

I dont think 2hours is gonna be enough

I dont think 2hours is gonna be enough

But you said you only wanted to sleep for an hour in the first bit about it... I would leave work early and catch some ZZZZs before going. The earlier you try and leave for the ferry, the longer it will take to get there, meaning less nap time. I would leave work at 4, catch some Zs until 8, then make a move for the ferry and catch some ZZZs on the ferry.

OR, do the sensible thing and get someone else going as a named driver on your policy to drive for a bit... :P :D

For me

I've got one you can have!!

got no one to add on the insurance I want to drive it all anyways. I never said I wanted to sleep for just one hour I am sleeping on the ferry anyways and one hour or more before.

I think I only had about 30mins sleep last time as couldn't sleep because I was trying to sleep too early.

Soo back to the original Question.

Does anyone know anywhere I can kip? or il just pull up in the last layby on A20 looks like best option at the mo.

I cant get out of work early cant leave centre of bristol until 5:30pm so wont get home from work until 6:30pm

Therefore with packing, dinner and stuff I see me leaving at around 7:30pm (fingers crossed) and should hopefully be a bit clear on the roads at that time.

Cheers Barry - would be cool, ta

Will - When you descend into Dover (depending on which direction) there's a wide area with the DOVER sign on the left. On the ring trip last year I was 2 hours early too, so pulled over there and caught some ZZZs. If you're coming from Maidstone way, there might be somewhere as well.

Cheers I got a few other places I could try i'll keep that one in mind.

Jason do you know all the layby's round there quite well ;)

I was thinking of the last Layby on the A20 just before Dover. That way anyone of you lot that drive past can wake me up. Or if its you Jason just boot your Spitfire as you go past that should wake me up

Nothing like a spot of dogging to help you sleep better. :P

How does walking a Dog help you sleep  also I don't like dogs in my car they make it smell funny.

Will, If you use the M2 just after J4 there are services "welcome Break"

You can still use M25/M26/M20 then go up the A229 onto the M2 head for Dover,

I will wake you at 11.30 pm on my way

Just out of Interest, is anyone filling up with fuel at Dover? So we can all start with a full tank.

I'm doing the opposite. Turning up at Dover with hopefully around 100 miles worth of fuel, then brimming it at the Texaco just after the Belgian border (which is not far at all from Dunkerque from memory. ) - Saves me a few pennies per litre anyway. ;)

I will be doing the m4/m25/m20 tuesday after lunch and hope to sleep few hours in the ferry car park :) if I can

I'm planing to join the que for diesel in Belgium !

Belgium is the cheapest fuel on the trip from memory. Even cheaper than it was in Czech (although the currency value increase this year might make it the cheapest)

Just done a "Czech" ;) on the AA EU fuel price calc - For countries we use:

(Unleaded price first, then diesel)

Czech Republic Czech Koruna 29.2 27.4 - I make that about 75p a litre.

Belgium Euro - - 1.41 1.09

Germany Euro - - 1.37 1.35 (I'm going to try and do all of Germany on the same fuel....)

Luxembourg Euro - - 1.18 0.92 - Will be worthing brimming fuel tanks here!!!

Netherlands Euro - - 1.51 1.08
