Czech Road Trip Information Thread & Countdown

Featured Replies

May I remind you that this forum is for meets/events on the continent and not general chit chat about Czech/Prague trip. Whilst this trip is a big event rfor Briskoda it is not necessary to clog up this forum in this way as most of this should just be added to this thread as most if not all that are coming are subscribed to it!.

Ooooooohhhh :P

omg we're leaving tomorrow and i don't feel like we are at all? It all feels a bit odd

Pack....I have to pack

Will we get chance to stop at a supermarket before the ferry back to stock up on booze? ;)

From what I gather from Stu, the cheapest place to get stuff from is apparently within Germany. But I plan to stop "somewhere" en-route back to Blighty to stock up!

Is anyone else bothering to adjust their headlights, or shall I leave it?

I have a question before start packing:do czech bouncers allowed people wearing trainers in pubs , restaurants? or do I need casual wearing?

I'm not bothering.

I'm gonna bring my work shoes just in case. :) And a pair of "non-jeans" trousers. My clothes is basically

jeans (which I'll wear for the drive)

4 T-shirts

casual trousers

black shoes

short sleeved casual shirt.

And the "essentials" too of course. ;)

Actually, I suppose now might be a good time to start packing. :o All that's in my holdall at the moment is a pair of chargers....

I'm doing my headlights, and I think Roo is too. Jason has done a pikey mod (what else ) to his and put black tape over certain sections of the lights. I'm bringing the instructions from the Briskoda website as to how to do it on the Mk II Octavia and have had a play on my own so I think I know what I'm doing.

OI! :P  I'll have you know I've fitted proper furby beam deflectors to mine. :D

I still maintain that it's not worth the bother changing the headlights but we'll see.

Some of you will be setting off tomorrow morning so please drive safe on you travels, the rest of us will be descending on Dover from around midnight I would guess.

Last year we gathered a few from Clacket Lane service area for a mini convoy to the port, anyone up for it again this year

(I would imaging we'll be passing at around 11pm 'ish)

Clacket Lane @ 11 is good for us. We're leaving Devon around 7.30 and taking a gentle drive up. :) You have mu number and vice versa to liaise.

If you're passing South Mimms on your way between Portsmouth and Dover, Steve, I'm rather worried about your ability to find Prague! :D

Likewise you, Jason.

Anyone coming from T'north a few of us are meeting up on the M2 services just after Gillingham. We will be there until around 23.30.

I assumed South Mimms was the one on the M25 between the end of the M3 and the M20? I can visualise where the services is Steve is talking about though. :D

Gotta be Clackett Lane Services I reckon.

Whoops, wrong service area, which one am I thinking of then on the south side of the M25?

Edit: Is it Clacket Lane?

Edit: Is it Clacket Lane?

 I reckon so. Between J6 & J7. Time to send out another 20 PMs ;)

Ah! That makes more sense :D

South Mimms is at the junction of the M25 and the A1 - at roughly 11 o'clock on the M25.

Clacket Lane is the last services before the M25/M26 junction going East.

I've downloaded the Eastern Europe map for my tomtom PDA and I can't get the bl**dy thing to activate. Can anyone PM me a product code to try?

i was wondering if steve gets paid by the mile ;) south mimms is north of the river and clackett is souff of da manor ;) as any **** from kentville will say

omg packing is soooo stressful!!!!!! What clothes am I to take?? I have 3 nice-ish going out type outfits for the meals and any nice places we may go. I have some jeans and white trousers and various tops, about 12 pairs of knickers and 8 pairs of socks!!! I'm hoping I have enough........

Just charged my camera, will charge phone overnight......

can't decide how much sleep to have tonight, I want to be tired by the time I get to Emily's tomorrow so that I can sleep a bit before going for a drink with David Coulthard!!! (If we're still doing that, Roo??)

omg....I hope I don't forget something vital!!

So far I've packed 4 Ts, short sleeved shirt, and "essentials" - I'm putting my work trousers in for "nice stuff" if needed, and just taking my other pair of jeans (wearing for journey) Will be taking work black shoes too, wearing other pair for driving. Not bothering with jumpers.

Most important thing to remember, PASSPORT. :D

I'd pack something warmer as the evenings out there are looking a bit chilly! BBC Weather - Prague

Loz, TWELVE pairs of knickers!!, is Col really that bad a driver? ;) :P

:rofl::rofl:

Yep... i have a habit of trying to kill her :P

I have a fleece jacket for the cooler nights, but am also tempted to bring my "armani" suede coat as well. Not sure.

Edit: Just seen the forecast. 11 degrees is fairly balmy for evenings. I thought I was going to be seeing sub 5 degC or something. :D Good thing I noticed compared to last year is it's not as windy. That wind certainly gave a nip on the airfield last year.

[adds sunscreen to luggage - has vision of "beetroot" Col again  ]
