How about this item on ebay.....

180164694132

Does even more than the MFD3 for less than a quarter of the price!

Includes 6.2" touch screen, Bluetooth, GPS, TV Tuner, DVD/MP3 playback, rear view camera.......:yummy:

Not sure of quality, but someone at work just got one........

I'll see how his one goes and let you know.

Looks brilliant that Stu!

Steve

Very nice but doesn't retain the OEM look that I like. Would be a good consideration for a Fabia though.

Perhaps you should have a listen to the unit before you go spending any hard earned ££ .

I'm not saying that the OEM speakers are the best money can buy but they do certainly surpise you when connected to this unit.

I totally agree with Stu on this one. Heard it yesterday and thought it sounded great. It's a substantial improvement on the MFD2, even down to the quality of the sampled voice for the sat nav. Sounds much more natural. The DVD image is very impressive as well.

Think I know where my bonus is going now (if they ever paid it on time  )

Yes the VW one works great with the Seat as the button colours match perfectly with the rest of the car. The only down is the VW splash screen, but that only comes up on a cold start anyway. :)

Stu, how much of the 30GB drive is available to your music? I take it the MFD would rip CDs, and also be able to copy tracks from an SD card. Do you know whether there is SDHC support for cards > 2GB?

Looks ace :)

would there be away to flash it to skoda?

Mine looks to have around 18gb free.

It supports up to 4gb SD/MMC cards. Don't know about SDHC.

As far as I know, no, plus the lights are a different colour.

I sense a group buy in the near future... :)

I sense some angry wives, girlfriends and bank managers.

Sadly no GB as they are in very short supply at the moment, I have one and there is one more 'in stock'. Even if they were available it's a little too close to Xmas for many people I think.

thats cool, you can give me yours as an early x mas present

I've had the OEM speakers on the end of a lot more £££'s worth of head unit and amps, and they are easily surpassed by aftermarket cheapies. :P

However, one mans wine etc etc.

The MFD3 does look good though, and hopefully I'll get over to a meet at some stage to have a listen

Where did you source the product from????

It required a pentagram and a goat or something....

Think I'll wait a short while, but as soon as they are a reasonable price and available I'll probably just sacrifice a first born :)

That's probably a better bet than buying one now and sacrificing the chance to ever have a first born.

Ah my other half is understanding. She'd have to be to put up with me.

Stu, on the new VW Tiguan there is an colour rear view cam like an option for Trinax :-) Think about it

Yes VW do lots of nice little options such as Digital TV tuners and the like.

For folks that want to dribble some more :

RNS510

Obviously looks like either an unbranded unit or the VAG model as it is in red. But gives an idea of the interface and setup.

Oh and a video of it working:

It does look fantastic but does anyone know who actually makes it?

I'm struggling here...

It's a 6? inch lcd screen. It lives in your car. It doesn't make it go faster, or drive better. It plays the same satnav discs, but with a "better synthesised voice". It plays music somewhat better than the previous incarnation, or the cheap head unit that normally comes in Skodas. You like the sound better than your home stereo. Do you go and sit in your car to listen to music in the evenings? It plays DVDs. We all know you can't, or shouldn't, or wouldn't want to, watch DVDs in the car while you're driving, which, IMHO, a car is for...

It costs at LEAST 1.5k pounds! Let me tell you, you can buy a pretty nice stereo for the lounge for that money, and you can sit indoors in the warm, with the light on, to listen to the music.

What am I missing... ?
