Just got Annihilated by a Fiesta ST?!

Featured Replies

The one component missing from all of the models you list is an LSD, which the 3MPS has as standard. the reports I've read say it doesn't really suffer from any discernible torque steer.

Although it drives well considering the power being sent to the front wheels, It usually gets marked down for being totally anonymous in the looks department and having vague steering.

I don't remember reading anything about torque steer, just that it's a handful when pushed, as yet I've not had the opportunity to drive one. I guess with that amount of power Mazda had to put an LSD in really, after all power is nothing without control. :)

The only bad thing I can say about the 3MPS is the tax band... :D

Easy answer to this.

You can't drive for toffee.

1. You should be able to pi55 over one even tweeked as from your sig you should have a big advantage over it

2. WTF are you doing driving at those speeds on the roads? :thumbdwn:

People have been prosecuted as a result of such posts before.

Not smart.

Agreed.

People people when will we realise that life aint a movie like Tokyo Drift (or whatever the f*ck its called). Who gives a flying t@ss whether your car can beat my car, it doesn't make you special.

I regularly attend shouts cutting idiots out of cars all because they think they have the right to drive like tw@ts. All too often it's the innocent third parties that end up dead, whilst the tw@ts come away with perhaps a scratch.

Maybe it's an age thing, and all you invincible super talented drivers will eventually one day grow up.

Harsh?.........tough, I make no apologies.

i was doing 250mph the other day on my pushbike!!!! prosecute that :P

Many moons ago, a friend got pulled for doing 40mph on his pushbike.

As this was not, presumably, at a track day I can only presume that you're going to end up either dead or without a licence. Sounds like it'll be pure chance as to which happens first. Stop it.

:) I was racing a Ferrari the other day in my Estelle. My steering started to shake a little at speeds higher than 168 MPH. Can anybody help?

sure! let me know where and when you intend a repeat performance and I'll dope the ferrari driver with chloroform, he won't make it off the start line LOL

(oh, and before post police kill me, um, I think it's obvious I wouldn't do this in real life)

well said. I've seen too many mangled bodies in Pathology due to careless drivers. How would you feel if one of your loved ones was killed by an idiot trying to prove a point behind the wheel? At that point, torque and BHP would become quite irrelevant.

Tracks are ther for a reason.

Sure, everyone puts their foot down now and again, but there seems to be a prevailing attitude of 'my car will kill your car' on this thread - distinctly different to the regular attitude of users of this forum.

The beauty of a car is much like that of a lady. We all have our loves, but we don't compare them by specifications, because it is all about how the car makes us feel, just like a partner.

If you define your liking for your car by it's ability to thrash others, then you're missing out.

I drive a w124 E280 and a 1.8 Freelander in the uk, a 120 Estelle in Cz, and I am preparing a 136 Rapid. I borrow my cousin's E46 330ci when we go out, and all of these cars are VERY different, but I like all of them in different ways.

Nobody deserves a battering for driving/liking a certain car, that's almost like racism. As a brown guy studying in a relatively small Czech town where skinheads wait for a chance to batter me, I know how it feels to be hated because of one characteristic of mine.

I don't see why some users here are getting angry. We all drive, we all like cars, so if one person likes a Fabia and another likes a Fiesta ST and another likes a CTR and another likes a Rapid(you and me Dave!:)) then that's it.

By the way, I read this whole thread, and I think the question at the beginning was, HOW CAN THE ST BE MADE TO GO FAST?

Well did anyone think of nitrous? And no, I am not some teenager who only knows about nitrous from fast and furious :).

From what I've read the 3MPS is a bit of a handful and like the VXR struggles to put it's power down... The other thing is it's a band G road tax :thumbdwn:

As much as I like the 3MPS I think your better off getting a LCR, GTi, vRS, ST, VXR and remapping it.. you get about the same power (or more) and lower road tax.

Really the law should be changed so that any modification to the engine/exhaust which increases CO2 could result in higher VED.

It might be worth lobbying your local MP to cut down on these CHVAS who are doing this for financial gain while damaging the Environment

LOL. He's back! And controversial as ever..... :D

I thought your Fiat had been remapped?

My car is old and yes well well before the new VED bandings came in so not applicable.

So that makes it ok? Sorry, not sure what the difference is between paying the set VED for pre emissions based taxation and then remapping the car, or getting a car that is banded and re-mapping it. Both mean you're effectvely diddling the system and polluting the atmosphere more than if the car were standard.

Dont agree banding is based upon age of the car if my car had to be banded and was std then it would be Band G thats £400. Never will any VED be backdated, how about all those US Muscle cars 10ltrs V8's from the 60's band Z anyone yet they are VED free like the Polo Blue motion.

VED and Emissions - All of this assumes you believe CO2 damages the environment - it's still only a theory - and that the man made CO2 is significant enough compared with naturally produced CO2.

Now there's an argument. :D

Using your logic, if it's wrong for people to 'abuse' the emissions banding system through mapping then it's equally as wrong for people to buy an old car and map that though surely?

This is what makes me think that both are equally as 'wrong' as each other (levels of wrong-ness open to interpretation). The fact that pre 2001 cars will not be banded makes no difference.

Hell, whilst you're at it lobbying your local MP, why not ask for all pre 2001 cars to be banned as there's no guarantee as to how much CO2 they produce? Oh, wait a minute...there's the MOT that applies the same levels to all cars, banded or not.

And even if it is due to CO2, you then get into the realms of whether man made amounts have any effect. The oceans produce by far the most CO2 (as it's water soluble) and if you look at ice sheets etc they can tell that CO2 levels have been rising and falling at similar rates to present times many times in the past, way before we were driving round in our brum brums.

In actual fact the worst 'greenhouse gas' is actually water vapour, which accounts for far more warming of the earth that CO2. And what's made of water vapour? Clouds.......

Fiesta ST's may hav a normally aspirated lump however the 2.0 duratec proves most responsive to modifications. A friend gained 7 horses from just a filter and induction kit, and the Dyno operator where we got the car tested said he'd seen another Fiesta ST with just a few modifcations pull 170bhp.

Even Ford themselves have announced a retrofittable upgrade for both the Focus ST and the Fiesta ST, the latter of which gives 185bhp... and that only costs £1,500ish.

i remember pumaspeed raving about the miltek manifold adding near on 20bhp to the st when it fist came out :)
