Just got Annihilated by a Fiesta ST?!

Featured Replies

Housemate of mine had an XUD with knackered spheres....bounced down the road like a lowrider. Really funny. :D

The XUTD could be fiddled so easily though. Upping the boost and fuelling was a doddle....just fiddle with screws and the wastegate. ;)

Plenty of room for a 2.1 XUDT from a Xantia under there too and the mounts were IIRC the same too :)

The only thing is those BX's don't fly very well. Ask Mr P next time you see him ;):D

Oh dear, did he have one and try and launch it, thereby trying to literally fly it.

The best part about your post, is that you truly believe a Fabia would not get near your super CTR. Trust me when I say this........yes they can. Some would leave you crying.....

My car is faster than your car :D

Jesus, what have I started? Something good has come of this thread. I'm getting a bigger turbo, bigger than the VT2 anyway. Then people on other forums might post threads titled:

'Just got mullered by a skoda TDi brick?!'

:)

and? an ST170 would take your Fabia like a king... ;):)

If you go back to the beginning of the thread, a certain special someone's reply to the question what had been done the Fiesta? was "You can't drive for toffee" and "You should be able to pi55 over one even tweeked" simply because a highly modded ST is a somewhat rare beast. Yet if someone dares to even suggest that a Fabia vRS isn't is as quick as a CTR...? it's kicking time  **** like that is the reason threads like this turn out like they do :thumbdwn:

This is getting a bit circular! The thread was only meant to be a bit of fun, a casual discussion about what someone could possibly have done to a fiesta to make go like a missile.

Whoever has the best power to weight ratio and traction in whatever car will usually be the fastest in a line?

I'm sure there are Fabias out there that would dominate the Honda (devonutopia?). I am surethere are other Hondas which go faster than that too. Equally, I am sure there are fiat pandas out there that can thrash skylines off the mark.

There was that Nova clip on utube a while back, drag racing a skyline, now that was a good example of not taking things too seriously....

This is getting stupid.

We all know paper stats aren't 100% accurate, but do allow you to reflect and do add some emprical evidence to the argument.

Lets for the sake of it, assume that BOTH cars have EXACTLY the same drivers (the stig?)

In my opinion.... if both cars were in standard form... the ST would probably beat the VRS by a decent amount in a 0-60 off the line dash.

In a 30-80 "off the roundabout" or "rolling start", I still think the ST would win, but not by a lot. For a start, it would get around the roundabout due to its superior handling and the lard arsed Fabia wouldnt keep up. However, its paltry torque output (which, lets be honest, is awful for a 2.0 engine) would see the Fabia gain good ground but not win IMO.

I have raced my mates Puma 1.7 in a 30-80 dash, and it was EXACTLY even until 60mph... when my extra torque allowed me to pull up behind and overtake.

Both cars were standard.

The Fiesta ST and the Fabia VRS are both good cars in their own right.

If you want a well kitted little car, that looks good, handles well and has a fair amount of power then the ST is for you.

The VRS is a well built little car, which is also fairly well kitted, though not as well as the Fiesta. It's diesel engine makes it ideal for motorway journeys and its huge torque makes for a fun but also comfortable and relaxing drive for those times you just want to cruise in comfort.

Personally, I think the ST is a cracking little car, but where it falls down is on running costs. It isn't THAT quick considering insurance costs (I was quoted £1600 MORE for an ST than VRS). The 2.0 drinks fuel and needs to be revved to make it move anywhere due to the lack of a turbo and torque.

The VRS on the other hand... is a far better all rounder. It is reliable, cheaper to tax and insure, but it does fall down a little on handling, the Fiesta's chassis is far more capable.

There is also the tuning aspect.... £425 spent on the Fabia VRS will see what? 180bhp? And more torque than The Big Show? That's enough to eat standard Fiesta ST's for breakfast... as well as other quicker cars I will not mention.

What will £425 see you on the Fiesta? 155, maybe 160bhp? And about as much torque as Michael Parkinson's fart?

Its a case of horses for courses. The ST looks better and handles better, but IMO its running costs are far too much for the performance it puts out.

The Fabia VRS is SLOWER in standard form, but where it falls down in handling it makes up for in practicality, value for money and "surprise factor"

Everyone expects an ST to be quick... with its chavvy stripes and "look at me" spoilers etc.

But nobody really, unless they are quite clued up, expects that little diesel Skoda to pull out into the outside lane and pass them by, let alone put a fight ;)

a well balenced sensible post joel,it will do no good in this thread:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Wrong again :)

Wrong again :)

depends on the ST170, your talking about your car as if it was standard. he is talking about an ST170 with a gt28 running around 300bhp.

But nobody really, unless they are quite clued up, expects that little diesel Skoda to pull out into the outside lane and pass them by, let alone put a fight ;)

And embarrass a couple of Audi TTs (older) in the bargain :D:D:D

My car will **** on your car blah blah blah, my Fabia vRS can take anything blah blah, fact is Fiesta ST has 130bhp per ton and also weighs 150kg less, so in thoery it will go round corners quicker, but that fact is lost on some people seeing as they think thier Fabia is the quickest thing since the Jet plane!

Just go to santa pod and race one and stop posting bragging posts about how quick something is. Only way to put your money where your mouth is is to race an ST at the pod.

..Well said mate! That just made me think about when they raced the Mini cooper against the Fabia. Fabia didnt take the corners as well as the mini but on those straights it really pulled. Should say something about the vRS vs ST argument too (ish)

Ok something i really really have to point out as it is bugging me.

A fabia VRS standard is insurance group 9, however due to repair costs a group 9 VAG can be more than a group 9 ford.

Also once modified the insurance group means practically nothing as can be seen by the quotes people are getting on modified fabia, with some even unable to get a quote.

Not taking any side just pointing out a fact as if you modify the car then you have to declare to insurance and costs will go up.

so your standard(apart from the mod) car made 10% more power at the wheels than the manufacturer claims at the fly?

That's nothing.

My PD100 turns out to have a W8 under the bonnet and 4wd! Also machineguns in the headlights and a saucy robot french maid in the boot.

I think Skoda are consistently understating their cars' specifications.
