Not me but I did the same route on the first lap, only got one sighting lap and I was doing about 2mph there for some reason, so never really sussed it. Then on my own sighting lap, don't know saw cones ahead and a turn board (okay I kind of missed the distance boards)...just turned next to marshall, I know I was not alone...other than that course layout was fine and of course the rest of the laps I did not aim for the marshall :D

As ChrisH will no doubt confirm, i also did it....on each of my first 2 "hot" laps. For some reason it just looked like the right place to turn in... :D

Yeah Ffelan - wot happened? How was it that your red one was always behind those darned Supra's up the main straight and I 'did' both of them in my little Jabba stage one?

To be fair the Black Supra was done fair and square and the white one copped out and let me through - but they both behind at the end - tee hee................

Bill...... cheers for the loan of the fuel can!

;)

No worries.. I know these beasts are thirsty on track... Need x3 cans really... 2 did'nt last the day for me, including arriving 3/4 full.

Gallons per mile me thinks

Ah yes, fuel consumption, arrived with about 5/8 of a tank, left after lunch to refuel for the afternoon sessions. Reset my trip computer for one of the morning session to find it reading average of 7.5mpg on my return :D

Great day out and respect to all drivers, no stupidity on display

Lee

Who was that nutter in the yellow Favia (I think) or was it the Seat Cupra - he was embarassing Spike in his Black Supra ! (Ahem and me lol !)

It was a Seat Ibiza... and me

Your top speed is faster tho... a lot faster...

340-360bhp Ibiza and around 1100Kg

Your motors sounded lovely tho.... howling... Nice. :o

Badger Bill u are a nutter :)

That little rocket of yours shifts well m8.

Thankyou. ~Needs better brake fluid I can't boil after 5 laps tho... GULP! Made for some inetresting entries to corners...

erm we had a few teething troubles with the set up... running too rich at the top end... but will sort for next time..... got past them myself round the outside at the double 90:cool:

Ffelan - I am so impressed with my RS in stage one Jabba - that I reckon with adjustable shocks, real brakes (plus maybe next turbo size up) I'd be almost untouchable!

Only got passed by 3 all day - inc nutter Cupra and a TT and something else. Smokin' day.

Who was the other Black RS that helped me get my black flag - and went through the cones instead of doing the far side chicane? Marshall thought I was going to try for a wrong side overtake - which was garbage - I was looking for the white knuckles on the other driver then slotted back in well in time. Must have looked dodgy from behind that's all I can think. (your Honour!)

ROFL.

I took them aswell..oh hang on we were doing 80 after T1 since we just left the pits and everything was cold. How many people 'did' me..loads :D but I know when I'm pootling they didn't :D

No octy out there could pass the supra's fairly on a straight if they were being equally driven as hard. And if I owned one I would not want anybody behind me; that way I can play with the backend safe in the knowledge some octy trying it's hardest would not punt me off mid corner.

Pauls is far quicker than mine, similar software; yet Paul never passed me?

Nor did you AFAIK, James did, Bill did, who didn't he pass. I caught up a Ford RS Turbo, but could not overtake him, unless he let me pass...nothing is relative out there.

erm only got passed by bill.... i know james was quick be we never ended up on same bit of track at the same time.....

As Liverpool Victoria Insurance told me two weeks ago "as long as there's no racing or time trials we'll cover you on a track day"..................................... I think racing might be less risky!

Mind you they said there's no charge for the Jabba chip either........................

ps I have to say that my Michelin slicks must have added about 50 bhp equivalent to my cornering speeds - had as many blisters as Vanessa Feltz' butt after Liposuction!!

Quite possibly, certainly every one is out there to win! Of course you'd have a season to proove yourself in and overcome technical issues of a day or gain experince of your car on a track/airfield. Who knows maybe a BAR can beat a Maclaren or Williams next.

Liverpool Victoria is a good insurance company. Out of interest did it change the way you approached the day, willing to take more risks?

Got passed by Jon, who was making very brave moves on cold tyres, but then re-passed him once tyres warm.

..but likewise when I passed the APR TT, who was outdriving himself on cold tyres, once warm he then passed me.

Also sorted a couple of troublesome lotus's, the exige was a fun one to sit with for a couple of laps - didn't push him as was on my first session, but passed without too much issue, same for the RS escort - very quick in a straight line but slowed for the bends.

Paul only passed me after I went off - no other octavia's got close :D

..but thats not what it's about, was just good exploring a car's limits in relative safety.

I got passed by everything :(

But I had to keep stopping to pick up fares :D

;)

Indeed Ian, you had the extra horsey's on the striaght and less weight ;) for the white RS turbo. Kept catching on braking and cornering, but straights we were very evenly matched and the 3-4seconds head start meant corners were the only option, but I didn't chase him into a bend; no point; lift let him go and recommence the fun at the exit onto the main straight :D

Great to follow and burn the flys onto my paint work aswell :D Huge flames :D

I prefer to see people in front and watch there style :D Shame I was not behind supras more; saw a few tail end out momements in my mirrors...

no maximum attack..... as mansell used to say.... when the red mist comes down...;)

Ian, my tyres were up to temp within about 30 metres :D By the time they had done 2 laps they were overheated :( At least they are now dead and can be replaced by something a little more grippy that may actually stand being driven. The ones it comes with are hot to the touch just commuting to work  Noticed the P Zero Cs took a good few laps to warm up.

Certainly didn't change my approach, i always drive like that

Mixtures of driver ability, tyres, etc. all lead to confusing "results". Studioman you said the TT was one of only a few to come by you, yet Paul passed it easily. Who knows what the difference in circumstances were between those two occasions ... everybody had fun, that's what matters

I do...:D

1. Driver A: American Racing Driver.

2. Driver B: Ex bike racer, still discovering cars.

Well thats one variable :D

Thanks everyone.. A good day.... Nice to meet Ian again.. Also to put faces to names etc... BUT as this was the first event I've attended it would have helped if we had our login names on the car windows... a few did this but just a suggestion...

Also thanks to the guy with the standard silver Fab vRS ( who works at Npower ) Who had me as a lardy passenger for a couple of laps.. impressively nimble and felt quick enough even though he wasn't pushing it to its limits.. I NEED A TEST DRIVE!!!

Sorry can't remember your name!!..

Thanks to Jim ( Awesome ) for the chat and the demo of the APR product..

Pitty he couldnt do the free trail.... The TT looked the biz and went well..

attracting attention even on the trailer on the way back...

Interesting to judge the pace of the standard octavia vRS vs the standard Fabia vRS.. did'nt seem to much in it. I wonder how they would compare on a circuit like Knockhill? Nice to see Bill's Ibiza seemingly passing everything.

I went over and had a nose at the assorted collection of old jets.. which was an ideal location to watch some oversteering moments comming out of the last corner... ...

Finally.. being slightly thin on the hair front.. I was well prepared and was lotioned up!! so no sunburn ....

I did take some pictures.. I will post them when I pull them from the camera..

Cheers

Dazz

these things are so subjective... i have and ian has too... scalped a GT3 at anglesey but having driven my c2 on track on sat would have to sat the GT3 driver must have been scared/ inept cos i would have murdered anything round brunters in a manual stiffer and slightly more powerful 911.....

I always did one gentle lap to get everything circulating, then one "warm" lap where I'd start to lean on tyres, then start to commit properly. Was all about discovering the balance of something very alien to me. Before saturday, I hated 911's, thought paul's was nice for posing but not a sports car, engine is simply in the wrong place!

Since saturday, well, found myself lustfully looking at a couple of 993's on sunday..... am hooked.... is just delightful to drive, can really play with the balance under braking and under power, very communicative.

Just one question... from a yella Ibiza...

why do I seem to have got a 'nutter' prefix by peeps :rotz: :eyecrazy: :huep:

Confused...
