Help!!!!!

Featured Replies

I desperately need help/advice.

In February 2004 I gave up driving VW & purchased a 5 month old Octavia Vrs from Alex Lawrie Skoda Liverpool with 3000 miles on the clock. Yesterday whilst driving to Sheffield to see a mate my clutch buggered up. This has now been recovered to a Skoda dealer near to my home town. They have looked at it & stated that it is due to wear n tear, not covered by warranty & will cost me

Wear and tear with that low mileage, who are they trying to kid. Mine has had a lot of abuse and at 40k miles still drives like new.

I guess you need to find out exactly what has failed and post on here and then take it up with skoda cs.

I think shouting and threats are called for

Gash,

Which dealer?

I'm guessing 2 possibilities, one of which i would expect this from, the other i would most certainly not expect it from..

I know, but how would I go about it.................. The dealer that the car is at now said, i quote "...BECAUSE ITS IS SUCH AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM, WE ARE GOING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH SKODA UK & SEE IF THEY WILL REPAIR IT ON WARRANTY..."

As mentioned before, there is no way that i could have caused this damage in 3000 miles & the female accountant at Alex Lawrie Skoda who used it before me must have been towing a HGV with it or she was deaf & couldnt have heard the noise as the engine must have been squeeling!

Geoff.........It wasnt Turners, try the BORO!

Slacks?

Well slap me daft with a banana !!

I'm surprised at them, if this is their new "Corporate attitude" i'll be looking elsewhere.

Time i stopped recommending them i think. :grumpy:

Gash, also bear in mind they supply your "company" cars. Might be a useful bit of leverage ;)

One other point.

I'm sure there have been cases on Briskoda where clutches have failed prematurely and been replaced under warranty.

3000 miles is NOT wear & tear by any stretch of the imagination.

do you think that if i spoke to skoda uk id get fobbed off? i dont think anyone will want to admitt responsibility...............................is

Gash ,

Some words to throw at Skoda Uk CS (yes, call them, you never know..)

Solicitor, Watchdog, Citizens Advice Bureau, Newspapers.

Mention your job too, and that the "works" RS's are well & truly driven and don't suffer from this (talk to the guys who look after them & get reports if need be)

My clutch has coped with a Jabba remap from 5000 miles (now almost 11500) and is still fine.

By the way, what's the exact current mileage?

gash,

sounds like nonsense and some jobsworth can't see sense - the clutch should not be failing at that low mileage.

as geoff has said above, mention the right words, get angry (you have every right to be) and do not for even a nanosecond let them be in any doubt what a dim view you take of all this.

makes me seethe but i am positive it will be sorted out in your favour.

all the best.

I'm calling into Slacks tomorrow if i get time, i might just make them aware that this isn't going to go away quietly ;)

you need to find out the exact fault there is one obvious sign if centre plate has burnt out on the pressure plate than that's down to missuse if it's burnt out on flywheel side then thats a manufacturing prob.btw i replaced a clutch on a fabia which had done 1600 miles due to poor driving. hope this helps big.k

sorry it should read burnt out on flywheel side = driver abuse

iv'e just had a flywheel and new clutch replaced on my furby vrs 12k miles under warranty. and there's still a noise so there investigating again.

Tom.
