cars that blokes just dont look right driving!!

Featured Replies

Would also have a Honda S2000 whereas some folk think they are girly too.

People who say that, again clearly haven't driven one (and definitely haven't tried to drive one down a country road in the rain!).

I personally don't like them (hate the v-tec power delivery) but they ain't no girls car!

I can't believe no one's included the MX5?

Someone had exempted it, but it's all wrong!

Oy You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbdwn: (see siggie)

there may be a lot of girls drive them but they definitely ain't a girls car! (at least the Mk1 isn't ... Mk 3 maybe....)

The term 'Poor man's Porsche' used to justify a Boxter being girlie.. irony?

It's all relative, but I certainly can't match up a £34k list price and the use of the word poor.

Back on thread...

Had a KA for a while and whilst definately a little girlie, was great fun to drive. Mazda MX5 is pretty much universally accepted as being one of the finest 'driving' experiences of any modern car - even Mr Clarkson admits this. It's a shame it's got a "girlie" reputation really.

How about the Suzuki Cappucino? You couldn't call that a man's car, unless he had one for each foot.

Cheers

Stu

Em, if the MX-5 isn't made for girlies, how comez my right arm rubs on the door skin from shoulder to elbow if I try and drive one, and what is that gear **** about?

Steve is right, anyone who mentions it's a poor man's Porsche HAS never driven one.

Simplest thing to do, on any internet forum is just repeat the words from Clarkson.

Ever driven a Series One Land rover? Pretty manly machines those, but not kind on elbows! ;)

Yes - the Gospel of Clarkson is far too widely preached.

Off topic""

I'd quite like to hear a review on a standard Fabia vRS comparisons to a standard 330D, when you have time. :)

Done- put it in it's own thread Here so as not to drag this one off topic.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I wouldn't mind trying one, though. I think that my masculinity will come out of it unscatched. :D If only I'm not forced to drive a pink'un

I was going to say, any car with the paint option of pink is definately not a man's car :D

Re the door skin - 'cos it's a small, compact, lightweight sportscar (have you ever seen a Mk1 next to something modern like an Octavia? - they look tiny!

Re the gear**** - OK yes it is somewhat phallic but is easily changed (for a nice alloy ball in my case ...just read that again and maybe not the best way of putting it...:o)

I agree with steveraith and steve h. but there again I own a Boxster and it is certainly no girlie car. I have been told it's a hairdresser car but thats only jealousy.

IMHO they are the Ducks Nuts to drive. When you boot it in second gear the sound is sublime.

It goes well with my Octy VRS!!

S2000 has been sportscar of the year a number of times!

I don't like any French cars and Fiats. They are all girlie motors.

I know I can't afford a 911 but I could afford a Porsche Boxster at a push. So What?

I'm guessing the vast majority of Boxster owners get a Boxster because it drives extremely well for the money, and they can't afford a 911. Big Deal. Just like the majority of VW Golf GTI owners buy a GTI because they can't afford a Bugatti Veyron.

The Boxster supplies demand in it's own sector, just like every car that sells does. Using Clarkson's quote is completely irrelevant and quite pompous.

And also, MX-5's are very manly cars with hairy chests and beards, especially the MK 3 2.0 Sport!

I hold my breath as I write this and wait for the onslaught of comments and laughter

Meet my summer / weekend motor, is it manly enough ?

Argh, any technical people wanna help me out - i've tried to attach a picture and although it says it's already loaded up it clearly isn't there.

Well I wouldn't buy a Porsche, 'cos I can't afford one. Boxster or otherwise. Anyway, there's not enough room in it for carrying all those things that real men need to carry from time to time, like new fridges, big televisions etc.

(I actually put a fridge in a Corsa boot one time, but that's a different story.)

Other Girly cars:

Vauxhall Corsa - when it's got the twin exhaust, tinted window and silver wheel **** upgrade. Complete with Recaro seats. I mean, it's a Corsa for crying out loud.

Suzuki - are there any manly Suzukis? Even the name is one step away from Susie.

Jags - definitely a man's car, even if they are cross dressed Mondeo:D

Any FRENCH car

Suzuki X90 :thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

If I had enough money, I wouldn't buy a Boxter.

It will be interesting to know just what it is about a certain car that makes it supposedly not a blokes car. Mr P just didn't ever look right driving my Velma and I suppose my vrs to some extent.

Lot of references to 'hairdressers cars'

My brother is a business partner in a hairdressing salon chain and I provide list of cars

he and his business partner drive/have driven:

Porsche Boxter

Audi TT

Mini one (convertable)

VW Golf Driver

Ford fiesta x2!

Citroen Picasso

Don't know how this list fits with peoples preconceptions about 'hairdressers cars' but the

first three must be 'on the money'

For the record they're both spot on individuals, one of which would still have the

much lauded porsche boxter, had the (London) dealership, upon carrying out its first

service not

a) Reversed a car transporter into it

B) Given it back to him (post service and repairs) with NO oil in it :eek:

Fiat Cinquento

Bloke I used to work with drove one, despite not being a 'blokes car' he was also rather tall and fat which made watching him get in it a comedy sketch!!

In its day deffo the suzuki vitara.....

a man cannot drive any convertable, simple fact they are all for women:D

Chrysler PT Cruiser - 50s styling for women born then.

form the original post, I wouldn't say the Reault Megane is girly, but I do own one... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/Devildude/IMG_1409-1.jpg

And about the mx-5's. Mk3's maybe a bit girly yer (they can look good with a few touches though), but mk1's are brilliant! I would love to have one if it weren't for the (lack of) practicality. When I can afford to run a second car I will definately have one, 1.6 supercharged on throttle bodies, Hard Dog rollcage and door bars, few body tweaks... I have it all planned out.

And also, MX-5's are very manly cars with hairy chests and Nicky Clarke straighteners , especially the MK 3 2.0 Sport!

:D:P
